Rating: Summary: 72 Names Review: A remarkable book. It presents, in this simple and concise, yet hip and modern guide, the origins of each name and, more importantly, how to apply in the struggles of everyday life. In finding a soul mate, to bring financial prosperity & to alleviate depression and illness.
Rating: Summary: Uplift your Spirit Review: After all this negative propaganda about Kabbalah I decided to write my own review about this book!
Kabbalah ain't about religion, it's pure spirituality!
... and I have to say: I love this book!
It's modern, it's colorful and on an advanced level! If you are new into Kabbalah you shouldn't start with this one, because The 72 Names Of God is much more about meditation and not about basic knowledge. If you read The Power of Kabbalah and you want to go one step ahead take this book. Forget about the negative press, get your own point of you. It can change your life.
Rating: Summary: Beware All Christians Review: As a born-again, Spirit filled believer, I made the mistake of buying this book. Because the book was a new release, there wasn't any reviews. If you think this book is about the different Hebrew Names for Jehovah, God, forget about it. I thought, I had missed many of the Hebrew Names for God. Not being a scholar of traditional Hebrew, I felt I could learn something I'd missed in previous Old Testament Survey studies on the Names of God. Wrong, Thanks God, I did not pay the TV price! All the advertising on this book is deceiving. Especially, if you're not familiar with the philosophy of Kabbalism. Kabbalah is Hebrew meaning, "received tradition", generically, Jewish mysticism in all its forms. A body of mystical teachings of rabbinical origin, often based on an esoteric (intended for or understood by only a particular group, an esoteric cult) interpretation of the Hebrew Scriptures. Specifically, the esoteric theosophy (or speculation about the nature of the soul based on mystical insight into the nature of God) designation for any religiophilosophical system claiming to provide knowledge of God. Also, of the universe relating to God, with direct mystical intuition, philosophical inquiry, or both. Kabbalah crystallized in 13th-century Spain and Provence, France, around Sefer ha-zohar (The Book of Splendor), referred to as the Zohar, which produced all later mystical movements in Judaism. If you're a Christian, this theory or philosophical understand contradicts everything the Bible teaches on the Old Testament.
Rating: Summary: Faux Kabbalah Review: As a student of the Kabbalah, I have seen how the Kabbalah Centre (lead by this book's author) has been distilling Kabbalistic wisdom and selling it to the mass market. The way in which this books uses the 72 names of God, as described in the Bahir, is little more than a self-help meditation.THIS IS NOT KABBALAH. But it may help you if you are looking for just another self help exercise.
Rating: Summary: The Cutting Edge of Self Help! Review: Celebrate Yehuda Berg's The 72 Names of God! It is an exciting privilege at this time to learn to use the technology of the Hebrew letters that are the DNA of creation and our soul. These are the keys to open the doors to achieving mind over matter and truly creating miracles in our lives and in others. When meditating on the 72 Names we can use the power of our soul, mind and unseen forces of the universe to achieve higher consciousness, so that we can remove our egos, share with others and achieve genuine sustenance, peace and fulfillment within and way beyond this physical world! The tools in this book have given me the conviction and confidence to see real changes in my life. For example, when I scan on the Hebrew letter combination for Certainty, I truly see a difference in my life that removes doubt. It is amazing!
Rating: Summary: Some things to consider Review: First I do agree with the one review that the 72 Names existed before this in various printed material. But getting past that, a very good modern rendition. Made very accessible to modern minds and will work if used correctly.
That being said, you can take this book on the surface and say they are nice affirmations. But anyone who is worth their salt in occultism knows how to use these things to transform their lives and consciousness; daily meditation and ritual. Consistent practice and usage (daily 15 minutes a day for a year, hey you get out what you put in, like anything else) will active the powers of the names once the sub-consciousness has been thoroughly impressed with them. Just reading them every once in a while or browsing the book will have little effect if any. Say you want to learn guitar, to play well you must practice, practice, practice! Same thing with transforming your consciousness. So this can be a nice coffee table book or you can choose to put some time and effort into it and
transform your life, the choice is yours, as it always is! "God" has given these names to those that have "eyes" to "see", for the rest, as I said, its just a nice coffee table book.
Rating: Summary: :-( Review: First of all, as one of the reviewers mentioned, this book has nothing to do with kabala. Second, there are no explanations regarding why the 72 three-letter combinations mean what the writer says they do, you just have to take his word for it. Third, they do not appear to work at all, and I gave it an honest open-minded try. Finally, when at the end of the book pronunciations of the letter combinations are given, some letters have numerous pronunciations, which further diminishes credibility of his whole theory.
Rating: Summary: Truely a must read! Review: I am just beginning my journey to a better life. In my search for enlightenment, I have come across books which tell you what you need to achieve this fullment you so desperately want to find, but this is the first book I have read which lays it out so simply and makes it so easy to understand. It is very well written. I highly recommend it along with Every Day Karma.
Rating: Summary: Pleasantly Surprised...! Review: I consider myself a rational, thinking, well-read individual. I've read a lot of self-helpish, new agey books, but I'm also quite experienced in the ancient, old world wisdoms as well. After reading the introductory pages ..., I was so impressed, astonished and moved that I had to buy this book. What I discovered in this book was an amazing revelation, and while it took three or four read-throughs before it really sunk in, no other book as so powerfully changed my life. Slowly but surely I am reversing the negative effects of time, stress, regret and ego on my life, and its all thanks to Yehuda Berg and his ability to share this wisdom.
Rating: Summary: Pretty good stuff!! Review: I didn't know what I was getting myself into but this is an excellent book.
