Summary: Changes your insight about the "mystries" of life.
Review: "What the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve". We have heard that many a times over. Now I got to know through this book, how and why what the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve. It's a must for anybody in any profession for self development towards success.

Summary: "Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't...
Review: ...you're right!" -- Henry Ford

Have you ever known someone who constantly thinks doom and gloom, and seems to find it at every turn? Have you ever known someone who expects the best of every situation and always seems to get it? That, according to author Claude Bristol, is the Magic of Believing.

The Magic of Believing works because Bristol was himself a skeptic at first. He presents this controversial topic with complete objectivity, addressing and overcoming objections throughout, and creates an excellent case for the power of belief.

Bristol reminds us that "...whatever we fix our thoughts upon or steadily focus our imaginations upon, that is what we attract." He doesn't assume that thought alone will bring success, but also encourages the reader to develop a plan of action, and gives simple steps to help make it a reality.

I can personally vouch for the validity of this material. The unconscious application of these principles has taken me to international acclaim as an author, when three years ago my only resources were a written affirmation statement and a strong belief.

Here's the funny part...it only works if you believe that it will work! If you don't, it won't. Do yourself a favor -- hang on to that naive belief long enough to see it work for you. This book could be where it all starts.

Summary: Good book
Review: A good book. I believe this book was originally written in the late 1940's. Since then a lot of other books have come into being, books by Ernest Holmes, Joseph Murphy and U.S. Andersen which explained why there is magic in believing. For the layman, this is very good indeed.

Mr Bristol, however, still has not completely shaken himself off from traditional beliefs. He advised readers not to us this power for evil purposes. This is a dubious thing. How do you define 'evil purposes' ? If, in using this power of believing, a person gets what he wants and triumphs over other people, it can be construed that he uses it for an evil purpose.

The other thing that he mentioned is 'don't try to use it for betting and gambling'. If the power is available and a person uses it in gambling and betting with complete faith and singleness of purpose and succeeds, what is really wrong ? This brings him back to the traditional belief that hard work must be involved in any undertaking.

Summary: The First Step
Review: A Positive Attitude is essential for success. Without a positive attitude, you won't put forth an effort. This is like a car. If the car has no gas, it will not go. And if you don't even try, you will not "go" either--that is, you will not achieve anything and are guaranteed to fail! If you have a positive attitude , you will keep trying and trying. Therefore, knowing the importance of a positive attitude is the very first and most important step to success.

Once you know this, however, there isn't much this book can tell you. You already have the key to success. A book telling you what you already know won't do you much good. That's my main complaint about this book. Sure, its overblown in some parts. But the main criticism is that it just told me what I already knew. Maybe if you lack common sense or aren't very well-read, this book will be informative.

Summary: It truly changed my life
Review: About 50 years ago, things were getting difficult. Trying to build a business, but was getting nowhere. My wife bought me the book, but I was too stubborn to read it.

Finally one day I relented, picked it up and read it. Everything turned around almost immediately.

It is a book that stirs your emotions, makes you realize what you can be, if you know what you want to be. It really works.

I am reordering another copy now as I cannot find my old copy.

looking forward to rereading it again

Summary: The book presents a practical way to achieve solutions.
Review: Although written more than 50 years ago, this book is even more relevant today than it was then. It presents in an easy-to-understand logical manner a way to focus on and reach a solution to a problem or achieve a goal. It is presented in a practical, not a "preachy" way, and my late husband and I lived by its words for many years. It truly is inspirational, and I have given many copies to others who needed help with coping with life.

Summary: Great Book about The Power of Beliefs
Review: Being a very positive type of person, I really liked this book. In order to be successful you have to think positive, you got to believe in yourself.

What makes this book remarkable is that it was written way back in the early 1900's, way before the surge of motivational and positive thinking era that we live in today.

Being a life coach, it amazes me how many people easily believe that they will fail, and that they have no chance of being successful. This is baloney. You can succeed. You can improve your life and well-being. You too can achieve greatness. Books like this one show you exactly how to do just that. Read it and apply it today!

Summary: RIDICULOUS
Review: Believing only increases your chances for succes by giving you the enthusiasm to try and try again correcting and perfecting each try til you succeed. But the CRAZY ideas in this book about what believing can do like growing limbs and creating events with no ACTION are just absurd! (...)
