Rating: Summary: Simple, yet powerful! Review: Simple yet powerful, fun, but effective is how I found the book "Working on Yourself Doesn't Work" by Ariel & Shya Kane. The book was a very easy fast read. It was amazing how much I learned reading this book. The chapter that touched me the most was the one titled "IDA." I really learned how true it is that one of the best gifts you can give is that of forgiveness. It frees you and allows you to live your life, as the other person might not even know about the transgression you are holding against them, so the only one who gets hurt when you are holding a grudge is you. This was very freeing for me. I strongly recommend this book for anyone who is searching for a more fulfilling and satisfying life.
Rating: Summary: Living From Your Own Truth Review: I enjoyed this book very much. The writing is clear and the explanations of the author's "3 Principles of Transformation" has enabled me to separates many truths from false ideas I once believed to be true. After reading this book I have found the freedom in which to live my life the way I want and not a life I think I should be living from outside influences. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in living from their truth and experiencing all the magic of their life moment to moment.
Rating: Summary: Shallow and not much value Review: I was hoping the authours were on to somthing NEW as they say they were.Do not worry, There not. Everything in this book includind the term INSTINTANIOUS TRANSFORMATION has been used in many courses They just registerd it. If you have read any self help books you will find this book has taken from the best and rewrote it in a large print double spaced with only the tone being what sets this book apart from the others. in the double spacing has left the reader to lack the depth of what is being suggested. The book is helpfull to those who think they are reading somthing new and profound but please don't kid yourself this is still about working on yourself. The technique in the burn chapter is Taken from the seminare "THE TRAINING" (est, forum)and has been around for over 30 years. in the chapterthe principles of transformation the principiles have been around for ever. Like-anything you resist persists and no two things can occupy the same space at the same time. Please read this only to realize there is nothing NEW here and this is an attempt to simplify and maybe show people there is somthing in the books by the authors who wrote on this stuff first. listen read it for whatever reason you want it wont hurt. It may be helpfull to you. To me it was basics simply retold.
Rating: Summary: A Way Beyond The Fear Review: A good friend of mine recommended this book by Ariel and Shya Kane called "Working On Yourself Doesn't Work" to me and I really love him for giving me this great gift! This book saved my life! I used to be so burnt out and full of fear about my future. I wanted to change my work situation but wasn't able to do it, because I had too much fear about it. After reading this book I became aware of the source of my fears and in turn they lost their power over me. I started to live my life in the moment, and began to notice how much I worked on myself and as I began to notice this without judging what I saw, I felt a sense of expansion and peace. My work has become much easier and the feeling of being burned out has disappeared. This book contains so much positive power. It's magic! I'm so excited about the concept of "Instantaneous Transformation" that I made my way from Germany to New York to attend a seminar of theirs. The seminar was full of wonder and one of the best experiences of my life. I'm very excited to be going to New York again in January to attend another of the Kane's seminars. During the time I'm here in Germany this book has been a big, big help for me to have a happy, fulfilled life. It has also enabled me to have as exciting change of my work situation. I have much less fear about the future, and a lot more fun and with my new lovely friends on my side. With warm regards from Germany and the hope of a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year for everyone.
Rating: Summary: Simply Refreshing!!! Review: I highly reccomend "Working on Yourself Doesn't Work" by Ariel & Shya Kane. It is an easy, yet powerful read. Once I picked up the book, I couldn't put it down. What I really loved was there were no systems or rules to follow. This approach is very refreshing to me, as many self-help books give a system to live by, which doesn't necessarily feel right to me. Things are so much easier for me since reading the book. I notice that I have stopped second guessing myself. I have discovered, to have a great life all I need to do is be myself "in the moment". What a relief to discover that I couldn't have lived my life any other way then I have, and that all the choices I have made up until now, were the right choices for me.
Rating: Summary: Reading this book doesn't work either! Review: 0 I purchased this book due to the rave reviews but was very disappointed. The authors claim to have developed a new 'technology' called "Instantaneous Transformation" which is about a change of states, shifting of realities. The concept is to accept and be aware without judgement. This according to the Kanes can lead to a quantum shift in your life by teaching you how to remain centered, be increasingly satisfied, develop better relationships etc. As I read through the book it all seemed so familiar. These concepts were very wonderfully presented over 15 years ago by Baba Ram Dass in a book called "Be Here Now". It was also written with wide spacing and simple sentences like this book. The concepts of "Instantaneous Transformation" are also used in many other philosophies. .... The book has little meat and many of the stories did seem to be judgemental. A characteristic they are opposed to. I also disagree with the premise of becoming one with your feelings. That is, if you are sad embrace it. There is much you can do to uplift your mood and why not be joyous if you can be! I find that I really can help determine my happiness. Yes sometimes I am down but there is much I can do to brighten my day and why not do it instead of surrendering to gloom. The Kane's also state that being with someone close to death can be a rich experience and feel wonderful. This saddens me. I personally found no joy and delight in this book. ....
Rating: Summary: This book is From The Heart! Review: This book is inspirational! I love the way they write - It's real ... I am looking forward to attending one of The Kanes Seminars. It's nice to know there people out there who really care - from the heart! I found the chapter on Ida to be especially touching- Thanks for writing such a great book!
Rating: Summary: enjoy it for what it is Review: A nice easy to read feel good book. A modest investment for the pleasure it can provide. It gets you thinking in ways you may not have experienced before. Sometimes just one small idea or different way of looking at things, can have a profound positive effect. For those wanting books packed with "how to" tools and techniques to manage your life, check out books such as "Unlimited Power" and "Anatomy of Success."
Rating: Summary: a must read. Review: Simple, concise, poignant, funny, eye-opening, and life altering. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: A modern approach to spirituality Review: Lately I have read many spiritual or New Age books. What does it mean to be spiritual in a material world? Does it mean renouncing the material to embrace asceticism, or to practice out of bodies experiences, vision quests and talking to spirits? While I am sure some of those practices have value, my approach to life is much more grounded in the day to day reality. I believe that we are on this earth to experience it fully, in all its physicality. Reading this book has been a breath of fresh air to me. Ariel and Shya Kane point out that we are generally governed by our mind, which is a collection of rules and regulations that vary according to the cultures we have been brought up in. This on board computer talks to us, warns us and guides us to avoid physical dangers for example, via the voice we all hear in our head. Our real self on the other hand is quiet and listens to that voice. Living in the moment as the authors guide us to, allows us to detach from our mind and allows our true core - our real self, our spirit to shine through. They are not talking about a spirituality that seeks to reach another world, a disembodied state of being, but rather about a very real and down to earth way of living your day to day life that nurtures our spirit - a spirituality for the modern world. I recommend this book with all my heart, body and soul!
