Summary: ON TARGET AND AN EXCELLENT LIFE TOOL
Review: As a numerologist and psyche consultant, I use Mr. Millman's book in my daily work. I take over 300 calls a month from people who are looking for answers and "The Life You Were Born To Live" assists me in providing them. My path is that of a 34/7 who has learned to "trust, be open and have faith in the spiritual process." I'm committed to service and supporting others in finding their highest good. I recommend this book to my clients as a tool for developing better coping skills in life. I wish it were required reading in high schools.

Summary: Why I wrote this book.
Review: Clearly, The Life You Were Born to Live is my most controversial book -- most readers find it extemely accurate -- a few, for reasons I can't begin to explain, find it personally offensive. Let's deal with the core issue: How can adding up the numbers in one's date of birth (on the Gregorian calendar) to determine your "birth number" possibly give valid, reliable, accurate information about your life purpose, potential, and the core issues of your life? It makes no sense. And I can't explain in any kind of scientific or even logical way how it works. AND it is an amazingly accurate method. All I can do is point to the mystery and mechanics of this universe. I was trained in the basics over a decade ago by an unusual man. I worked with individuals for nine years before teaching the system to therapists and others; finally, I wrote the book.

I wrote it to help my readers develop a deeper compassion for themselves and for others -- to convey how we ea! ch and all have our own mountain to climb.

It is not based on the commonly-known "oracle effect" where one gives general information and the reader somehow makes it fit his or her situation--most people agree it hits the nail pretty much on the head.

You are not a number -- you are a unique human being, not exactly alike any one else on the planet. But just as no individual tree is exactly like any other tree on earth, we can accurately observe qualities of oak trees that are different from pines, or aspens, or maples. Just so, those working one of the 37 life paths (for this century), even though their outer lives, careers, etc may appear quite different, do have issues and qualities in common.

It's good to read my book(s) or any books with healthy skepticism, but also with an open mind. Those who glance at it (without much self-reflection or insight) and shrug it off as "numerology" are missing the point, and missing the boat. I've never had muc! h interest in numerology -- it seemed a bit vague to me. T! hen I met this man, learned the system, worked with it, and found it extremely useful as a tool of self-knowledge. There you have it. I challenge anyone who read page four, find out how to derive your birth number, and then read the first few paragraphs of the section about your life path. Have a good journey. . .

Summary: Free at last!
Review: Dan Millman's book on Life Purpose is a terrific complement to the SLA readings Dan used to do. I love this book, and my friends love it. In fact, my friends love it so much that whenever they visit me, the book mysteriously disappears. They just don't seem able to leave it alone. So far I've gone through 6 copies of the book, and I'm considering using my bicycle chain to chain my latest copy to my bookshelf. Either that, or I'll have to start choosing my friends more carefully.

Summary: A "twinkie book": cream filled, NO value or substance at all
Review: For a man who wrote so poignantly in Peaceful Warrior, this book is a terrible ghost. It is a ghost because it summarily lacks "SUBSTAMCE" of ANY type. This so called work is a tragic mockery to an authors potential talents. Upon reflection, the question becomes, was this author the same person who wrote Peaceful Warrior? Let's certainly hope not. Uggggh.....

Summary: Best Book I've ever read!
Review: Hello, When I stumbled across this book, I was desperatlyseeking solutions to my life's downfalls. With the guidance and advice from this book, I've come to realize all of my downfalls have been my fault. This has been a revalation to me. If you are searching for spiritual guidance and answers to your problems in life, this book is for you. It has also been a guide to understanding my family. Now that I know their lifes purpose I can stop asking myself why they act the way they do. It has brought me and my family closer together with it's accuracy to our personalities. There's no other book like this one. It has also helped in my relationships with men. The first thing I do before I date someone is find out their lifes purpose, and see if they are living in the negative or the positive. This book has alot of useful information on What jobs will suit your type, whether your living your life in the negative or the positive, what universal laws to use inorder to live a fulfilled life, and if you have a spouse or mate, it will tell you the negative and positive of your relationship by adding you and your mates birthdays together.. I forgot to mention all you have to do is add your birthday to find your lifes purpose..It's so easy and accurate.. Everyone I show this book to can't believe the accuracy, except those in denial of their own faults.

Summary: Surprisingly accurate
Review: I bought this book five years ago after coming to a major crossroads in my life (and consequential crisis). I found many of the meditations inspiritational then. It also helped me to better understand myself and even those immediately involved in my life. I have looked over this book quite a number of times these past five years, mainly out of curiosity, to see the accuracy of determining the life path of certain people. It is surprisingly accurate. A number of friends of mine who have seen the book in my house and have looked it over (the title certainly calls one's attention!) have later bought copies for themselves. I highly recommend it.

Summary: Absolutely Fascinating & Moving!
Review: I don't know how he created this number system, but it is uncanningly accurate to some degree for every person I've looked up in it! And I've looked up every family member and friend whose exact birthday I know. (Well over 50 people!)

It is absolutely amazing! The results are so moving, that a person can't possibly deny the existence of some truthful meaning in numbers.

Dan Millman doesn't try to convince you of his system, nor does he try to describe the reader, or attempt to convince you he beholds psychic or supernatural powers. He simply offers his very intriguing theory of certain traits and inherited gifts that our birth numbers can signify. And his main goal is just as the book title suggests "The Life You Were Born to Live" -- this book will help you to accept and improve upon your weaknesses, and bring awareness to your inner strengths, gifts, talents, and true feelings. By exploring these sides to your individuality, this book will help you "live the life you were born to live."

I recommend this book for everyone! It has transformed my life by helping me accept who I am & overcome my fears, self-doubt, lack of self-discipline, and tendency to self-sabotage. This book has truly changed my life! And it's definitely worth checking out! I can't see anyone being disappointed with this book! It's awesome!

Summary: Only junk when one denies life as it comes - ignorant!
Review: I got this book 3 years ago during a time when I did not want to see many home truths that were blatantly obvious to all but myself. I read it then and almost threw it out the back door. However, I am mighty pleased with myself for keeping it. I now realise how ignorant I was then.

After much growth and acceptance of my past and present personal experiences, I have read this book again and have seen the messages in a different light.

It was not easy to see the truths of myself but I have no doubt that I am here to learn lessons in this lifetime. For all the things that has happened to me, I have jumped tremendous hurdles in my 25 years so far. I work with many people who lack clarity of direction in life now and I see a trend in what the theories in this book offer.

I thoroughly recommend this book to one and all, however I hope that we all know well enough that there is nothing on earth that gives us all the answers. There is no black and white, only shades of gray. Be wary of taking this in place of a bible cos, that would be a dishonour to the author. See it for what it is and take the coloured glasses off. Perhaps then we can have a better view of where we are and why we are here.

This book does not make the whole equation. The balance come from us knowing who we are appreciating ourselves for being us. We are who we make ourselves to be. It is our destiny to use the tools given to us to help us be who we are meant to be. Everyone is given different tools. It is up to us to decide if whe make us of it. It will become clear if we open ourselves without judgement.

Summary: Very Insightful
Review: I have always been interested in numerology and astrology. This book has provides the best information I have read on the subject. The descriptions of my life thus were very accurate. It can be unsettling to look at ourselves, but this is necessary for growth. If you are interested in growing as a person-- spiritually, professionally, etc. This is the book for you. You will not be disappointed.
