Review: I have read Dianetics and used the information in it to help others; I have watched people's lives turn around completely with this stuff! Amazing, wonderful changes in people as they address the basic things in their lives that are holding them back. I recommend it for anyone!

Summary: Nutty Unresearched Dull Psychobabble
Review: This book has nothing to commend it. It fails as psychology, it fails as a good read, and I have trouble imagining someone mindless enough to be helped by this claptrap.

Save your money.

Summary: If it's a science, then where's the research data?
Review: Isn't it strange that within the 500+ pages of this work of so-called "modern science," there isn't a single piece of scientific data to back it up? If L. Ron Hubbard really did all of that "research" into the human mind, then where are his research notes? Who did he do this with? Exactly when and where did this research take place? Did he use control subjects? What were his failures when he researched the field? If you ask these questions at any so-called "church" of Scientology, you will not get a single straight answer. I know, I tried...and the only answer they could ever give me was "buy the books, take the courses." Give them money, money, money. Critics say this book was written on a typewriter over the course of about three weeks, and an image of the cover of the original science fiction magazine where Dianetics first appeared -- the May 1950 issue of "Astounding Science Fiction" -- is available on the Internet. Just because Scientology calls this a "science" doesn't make it one. Do your own research and read newsgroups like ..., and see for yourself.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A "must-read" if you are interested in self-improvement
Review: The book gave me insight into how the mind works, why people go "out of control," and how and why unwanted emotions kick in.

That information alone would have been worth the time and money invested in reading Dianetics. But additionally, the book contains the procedure to actually handle the cause of unwanted emotion. I read the book, I applied the procedure, and IT WORKS!

Summary: A handbook on how your mind works.
Review: The concept of the "reactive mind," detailed herein, is something you HAVE to know about--but only if you're human. It's a simple idea that somebody should have discovered long, long before this. Here is the reason behind every one of your problems. If you're like me, you'll wonder why you didn't think of it. "If it were a snake...." The writing style is rather scholarly, but there is a terrific glossary, with every ten-dollar word defined at the bottom of the page.

Summary: This book saved my life
Review: The data on the mind and how it affects the body is between the two covers of this book. I was captivated from start to finish. While reading I could see how things in my life had stopped me. Using the techniques I was able to handle many areasof my life that had held me down. At the back of the book you learn the techniques of dianetics so you can apply them at home with your friends and family. This is the best insight to the mind I have ever read. It comes with a full glossary so you can undrestand all the uncommon words.

Summary: Revolutionary.
Review: The book has to be read to truly do it justice. I believe one does not really believe anything until he, or she, sees it for himself. This book makes current mental practices, psychiatry and psychology, look like ............ barbarism!

I did not read all of the 3rd part of the book that gets into the fine procedural details (who needs to study surgical procedure to know that surgery works?) but soon after I read the book I saw a Dianetic practitioner and the truth in the text that I read was borne out. This stuff like the bomb!

Why does the current mental health establishment feel so threatened by something that will really make a difference in a world in so much need of a change for the spirit of Man! Could it be that there really is such a thing as a spirit? And psychiatry and psychology have chosen to overlook, and COMPLETELY neglect it?
