Summary: Why Are People So Reactive?
Review: People want to know if Dianetics works or not and my own personal experience is the best review I could give for Dianetics.When attended a Dianetics seminar in Tennessee, I saw a police officer, fully conscious, fully recall a major surgery. He said everything that the doctors and nurses said around him while he was unconscious and he described it in living color. When he was finished he looked obviously relieved. Then I got to "audit" (to listen) someone. This woman's son had died in a car accident and I was sure that there was no way she could ever become cheerful about that (read the book to understand it all)! I simply followed the instructions per Dianetics and stuck with it even though I had no hope for this woman. I told her to go to an earlier incident and she did and she found that it was related to the incident of her son's death and she was very relieved. Now that I saw that it worked for others I wanted to try it for myself. At my next Dianetics Seminar I grabbed a partner and made her audit me regarding an unpleasant incident with my boyfriend. She had never done this before and was nervous but I knew it worked and I was determined. Of course it worked on me too! Now I am training to be a professional practicing Dianetics Counselor safe in the knowledge that, true to the Hippocratic oath, the worst that I can do is "no harm".

Summary: Do Actually READ the Book! Great stuff.... Buy it, Use it!
Review: I found the statement following as untrue: "...L. Ron Hubbard was asked about his millions of novels in print and the money he made off of them. He reponse was that we did very well from his books, but the real money to be made was in forming your own religion." This is actually a quote from the famous author George Orwell. If you're tired of false reviews and opinions and want a real science of the mind, then this book is definitely for you. Buy it, Use it!

Summary: The most important book ever written for mankind.
Review: This is the most important book you could ever read about you. There is nothing but workable techniques in this book, that if you truly use it and apply it, you will find out for yourself. Anyone who would write a critical review of this book never really read it and understood it, much less applied it correctly. Hubbard was a very educated individual with an incredible vocabulary, but his intellect and skill in presenting these revolutionary new discoveries about the human mind are delivered with finesse and sincerity. If you simply read this book, and apply the techniques, you will see that it works. I believe that was all Hubbard ever intended to demonstrate with this text. The techniques in this book will help you find out about yourself. When I those who would suggest you not to read any book that seeks to help man discover more about who he really is, what are they afraid of us finding out about? Could it be that we might begin to more self determined and actually prosper in life? Perhaps even achieve more freedom as an individual? I can see how that might be a scary thought to those who wish to control man and offer a solution of drugs and mental institutions. Could you imagine an individual on the street might actually be able to buy a book and find a solution that does not include the slavery of drugs as a solution? The shock and horror! Investers in these companies would lose money! Oh my! I praise Hubbard for offering a solution to man that does not harm, and actually improves man's condition, and enables the able individual on the street to regain control of their lives again. This book is a masterpiece. I read it, and actually sat down and applied the exact techniques Hubbard developed and achieved the incredible! I saw another person change markedly with joyous laughter. That person has never again been troubled by the problem we ran out with Dianetics techniques. This amazed me, and convinced me. It works. Read it. Apply it as he says, and you will get the same results. You owe it to yourself, and it's the only way you will really know.

Summary: The Most Contoversial Book of the Century!
Review: This book is a piece of work! Scientologist swear by it, critics and Scientists loath it. In this book you will read about the views of L. Ron Hubbard's on how the mind works. To L. Ron Hubbard the mind is similar to a computer, if a person receives bad input, called engrams, then this will cause them to have problems such as fear, doubt and other other ailments that will affect their lives. His belief was that these engrams could be erased by using a discussion with a person trained in Dianetics counseling that are called auditors. He believed that engrams had a charge and with a e-meter you could discharge the engram by going over the incident until the e-meter showed that it was discharged. This is very similar to what other counselors do in that they discuss bad experinces with their subjects. It is diffucult to read, but if you want to know about L. Ron Hubbard and Scientology then this book will give great insight about the subject.

Review: Someone in this forum badly misquoted L. Ron Hubbard. Here are the actual quotes from Dianetics: On nitrous oxide: "...the most vicious anesthetic ever invented, as it is actually not anesthetic but a hypnotic...." page 166 (paperback) "Ether, chloroform and nitrous oxide, the "anesthetics," place the patient in a deep hypnotic trance.... Of the three, nitrous oxide is easily the worst, being no anesthetic which would dull pain at all but a first-class hypnotic." page 503 (paperback) Some of the author's comments on drugs: "The sources of organic mental alteration are as follows:... 3. Alteration of the nervous system by drugs or poisons." page 510 (paperback) "In fact, alcohol is rarely an assist to anyone. A depressant, classifiable at best as a poison, alcohol has the single virtue of being highly taxable." page 505 (paperback) "Dianetics wakes people up; it does not try to drug them or hypnotize them. Hence, the hypnotic drug is worthless...." page 502 (paperback) About the goal of Dianetics: "Man is good. Summary: breakthrough in understanding human behaviour
Review: Reading this book alone has changed my life to the better. I haven't found this information anywhere else and recommend it highly to anybody who wants to understand life and himself better. Read it and judge for yourself!

Summary: NOT a Must Read!!!
Review: Having read BARE FACED MESSIAH by Russell Miller, I eagerly read Dianetics... searching for the truth behind Dianetics, and in the end, I did not find any mental enlightenment, only fatigue from trying unsuccessfully to follow the sentence structure. It didn't come off as an insightful, thoughtful work of science, more the writings of a rambling author that loses the reader from the first page. A severe disappointment.

Summary: I was really confused until Dianetics
Review: Dianetics helps you see that all beings, by their nature, share a theta energy that can take on and lick the universe using no more than our common tongue. Through auditing, one knows what one knows not, though not permanently. And one knows that this is a truth. Scientology is not science, or an 'ology', it is the base or inner spiral that is in the universe wherever there are beings.

Summary: Great Book.
Review: This book explains how our evolutionary history has left behind frailities in the operation of human mind and suggests a therapy for removing these frailities. It claims that if it's techniques are applied brutality will never again be needed to regulate human affairs, and mitigates specifically against operations upon the human brain which was widely used by psychiatry at the time of its publication and electrocution of the human brain which, sadly, is still widely used. Unsurprisingly it is a fairly hard study, but if you want to change the world that's exactly what you should expect.
