Rating: Summary: Reaching or Dumbing Down? Review: I question Gail Hudson's suggestion of Dyer dumbing down. Reaching a large audience is worth praising. While some might prefer his more elevated writing, there are those of us who value message over form.
Rating: Summary: a great book that truly helps you know peace... Review: I really respect Wayne Dyer's works and it has made a tremendous impact in my personal life. Unlike many other self help authers, I respect the fact that Wayne Dyer doesn't seem to be worried about what others think. Rather, he truly states what he feels from the heart and he is definitely a man who is independent of the good opinion of others. This is definitely a profound book and I especially like the overall summary of the book. It basically explains to the reader that in essence, we are spiritual beings having this tiny human experience. Thus, those so called "problems" that we become worried about is nothing more than just an illusion created by the ego and when we go into silence and meditate, we no longer become caught up by these problems but rather experience true blissful peace from the soul. So beginning from today, let's all choose peace. Peace is what you are seeking. You are a spirit and the only thing a spirit seeks with intention is peace. Let's all choose peace.
Rating: Summary: Best Book Anybody In Search Of Meaning Could Read!!! Review: I was upset to see that the ratings could only go up to 5...1,000 words could never truly express to you how much this book has influenced my life. Dr. Dyer captures the lessons and messages that our great minds and hearts through history dedicated their lives to teaching. He unites our world's greatest teachers from all different cultures and time periods, making this book suitable for anybody, no matter their sex, colour, religion, age. Dyer presents the reader with truth, enlightenment, and hope. He does sugar coat the bad things in life, like many self help books do, but rather let's the reader know that while times may be tough, we can conquer our trials, but the conquership begins within ourselves...While reading this book you feel yourself becoming each individual person quoted, as Dyer expands on their teaching and relates it to our own lives...If you do infact buy this book don't expect it stay in mint condition...My copy is already highlightena dn dogeared beyond recognition...if you open your heart, this book will truly transform yourself as it has mine...
Rating: Summary: Cathy Review: If you pick one book this year to read this is the one. While I have read almost all of Wayne's books, this one is by far the favorite of the pack. It should be required reading for all people who share our planet earth!
Rating: Summary: i see an error Review: in one of the texts, he used E.E. CUMMINGS, instead of e.e. cummings. what a fool. plus he does advertise more of his works in the book which take away from the original meaning. I find many parts of this book to have irrelevant entries in it. I could have written better information than this wise@55.
Rating: Summary: I didn't like it, maybe you do?! Review: It depends if you are interested in reading about important people from the past and what they have teached the world. I just ignored that, because I wanted to know Dyer his ideas, although it was the main reason of writing this book for Dyer. Anywayz I consider it's a summary and/or rehash of all his ealier books and/ or ideas. Next to it almost every page is about God this and God that and I'm not that religious, so it quite bothered me. The main thing in this book is: mediate, do yoga or something like that, don't be afraid to be yourself and do not let anyone manipulate you etc. Just borrow it from someone like I did and get the info you want and need....
Rating: Summary: This book was so beautiful that I wept tears of gratitude . Review: It is said that beauty is the splendor of truth. That's how I felt about this book. I kept crying with joy and gratitude for the beautiful ideas and I plan to propose use of this book in various groups I'm engaged with that we all light the lamp of wisdom within everyone of us. If there is anything we need urgently in these times, it is wisdom. Thank you.
Rating: Summary: ILLUMINATING AND INSPIRING ! Review: Mr. Dyer shows a profound respect, recognition, and understanding of the subtle mystical truths expressed by the many quotes he has used from so many renowned souls. There were many good ideas expressed from important sources, as far ranging as Cicero to Paramahansa Yogananda, a most recent world prophet of the 20th century. I believe this book will be very useful to anyone wishing to go beyond the popular and limited orthodox thinking in to-days world to experience a more meaningful life. It is also a well-written brief commentary on the many wonderful individuals quoted therein. Also recommended: AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF A YOGI .. by Paramahansa Yogananda,............... God Talks With Arjuna(Bhagavad Gita)............... Man's Eternal Quest.......... Finding the Joy Within You...........A World in Transition
Rating: Summary: A powerful message. Review: Our world today moves at a breath-taking speed. Dyer allows you to slow down and enjoy life for what life is. I also recommend "Life and Death on the Internet" by Keith A. Schroeder to focus these principles in our Internet connected world.
Rating: Summary: so far wrong it borders on evil Review: The kinds of ideas put forth by this guy and his peers--Chopra, Wilber, etc.-- are so misleading...The thing called "enlightenmet" is immediate, or it isn't the real thing. There is no such thing as a 60-day program to "enlightenment", and anyone who says that there is is probably only trying to get into your pocketbook and can lead you only to total chaos. I don't think writers like this start out to intentionally to bilk people, but their incredibly phony and grandiose ideas about themselves inevitably lead down that road. Please go read something by Krishnamurti or some such before you fall victim to this kind of madness.
