Rating: Summary: A real stinker! Review: I am baffled by the positive reviews on this work. Yes, I'm a Wayne Dyer fan. Yes, I have purchased nearly everything the man has created. Nevertheless: Can this possibly be the humorous, lively, exciting, self-improvement expert that razzled and dazzled us in YOUR ERRONEOUS ZONES and YOU'LL SEE IT WHEN YOU BELIEVE IT? Well frankly, my dear reader, it is hard to believe. Dyer presents his material in the book and on the tape as if you are attending a funeral. If there is one iota of enthusiasm . . . well believe me, I missed it. Moreover, what is this thing about staring at the poet's picture and then getting the true spiritual message or whatever. If this is the case then Dyer needs to be explicit; to explain the process and much importantly to provide us with specific examples where everyday people are using this and other techniques he is proposing. If we look at the aforementioned classic Wayne Dyer materials we are immediately struck by his excellent anecdotes that are conspicuously missing from nearly ALL his recent dry, boring, humorousless tomes and tapes, including the present one. As a self help author myself I firmly believe that an author lacking a big name would never have secured a publisher or an agent to peddle the present work.Dr. Dyer has implied that he has grown since those previous works. I for one don't buy it. If the old bubbly old Wayne Dyer of the 70's resurfaces I'll be the first on my block to buy his books and tape; but please spare us the meditation and the music.
Rating: Summary: Wisdom of the Ages - 60 Days to Enlightment Review: I am so glad that you are here Wayne W. Dyer to write with such wisdom to share. It helps to realize again how beautiful my world is.
Rating: Summary: This is a different Wayne Dyer Review: I attended a lecture last year given by Dr. Dyer; and, I have to say that I was impressed. I had read some of his early self-help books. While they were okay for what they were, I found them lacking depth. This was a clearly deeper and more spiritual man. So, I bought the book. It was likewise deeper and more spiritual than those early works. Dyer presents topics and relevant quotes from sages of the ages. He then presents his ideas, observations, and sometimes examples from his own life as they relate to a given topic. The book is thoughtful and well written. It didn't change my life. I'd already done that. I did, however, find the book delightful and spirit confirming.
Rating: Summary: Great Listening - Enjoyable, Succint, Practical Review: I bought the audio version of Wisdom of the Ages so that I could listen to it on the way to and from work, and I enjoyed it immensely. The audio version is great for commutes! And Dyer's voice is rich and soothing. Some of the chapters do contradict. For example, he points out the need to keep your dreams to yourself, but then describes the process of how he communicated his dream of creating "Wisdom of the Ages" to his publisher and the production staff in order to make it happen. All things considered, this is a great work. It is full of great advice, it is very enjoyable, and I came away with useful tidbits that I can and will use in my own life. I feel fully confident in recommending this to anyone.
Rating: Summary: An Enjoyable Read! Review: I go back to this book from time to time because of the way it names its chapters. For instance, my girlfriend just broke up with me and I'm so angry I never want to speak to her again - I would go to the chapter "Forgiveness" and it really helps to calm me down. Some bad points are the poems; do people really understand them? I don't! I just jump right to the discussion part. The summary at the end of each chapter don't really summarize the chapter and sometimes adds new thoughts from the author! I am also not satisfied with the spiritual or god explanation because I'm not religious. For anyone thinking of buying this book, definitely get the hard cover, I did, and happily, I was able to remove the cheesy cover and have just a nice plain blue cover.

Rating: Summary: Wisdom of the Ages-A Refence Manual Review: I have read and listened to Wayne Dyer for about 5 years now. This book for me is like a 'reference manual'for the different situations in my life. Rather than reading it from cover to cover, I go to it for guidance. If I'm experiencing a lack of patience or some type of grief has entered my life, I turn to the appropriate section and see if it pertains to my situation and perhaps I can get a perspective on it. It's like,"What does Wayne have to say about this." I have a great respect for Wayne Dyer. His teachings have helped me in some of the most tramatic times in my life. He seems to help me make sense of it all,the positive and the negative.
Rating: Summary: beautiful collection of some of most inspiring words ever Review: I love this man. I have every one of his books. It's amazing how I gain a new perspective each time I read a particular passage from his books. What's interesting ,though, is that there are so many parallels between Dr. Dyers writings and the writings of the Baha'i Faith, yet it always amazes me that he never referres to the works of this unifying world faith. The Baha'i Faith is profoundly rich with writings on spiritual truths.. and it was all revealed over 150 years ago. Nevertheless, I especially enjoyed this book of all his books (well actually Manifest Your Destiny was awesome too!).. I'll always be a Dyer junkie!
Rating: Summary: Great to Study with Friends Along the Journey Review: I picked up this book early last year for my friend and I to go through together and discuss our insights and lessons learned from the readings. We have not been disappointed. Some of the readings appear to have been written in a hurry, with less deep thought.... But for the most part the readings are high quality, thought evoking, and focus on fairly familiar passages from wise people from across belief systems and traveling through time. It was my first time realizing there really WAS an "Omar the Tentmaker" (I thought my brothers made him up to taunt me!) and I enjoyed remembering and reading Dyer's perspectives on St. Francis of Assisi, Patanjali, William Blake, Rumi and many others we admire in common. I also suggest reading this title with at least one friend if not more. It is a great conversation starter and can easily drive an intentional, spiritual growth oriented discussion.
