Rating: Summary: The Best Thing to Happen to Us Review: I didn't have any idea what a difference The Voucher System would make with my strong willed child and other children. Not only did I have a kit complete with colorful vouchers, points sheets and other useful tools, but the free Newsletter and personal consultation with the author supplied me with a veriety of information I could use. This Voucher System is the best this to happen to us in a long while. I highly recomend this program for parent with a high maintence child. It works well with all of our children! Additopnally, I am a school bus driver and use the vouchers with my special needs kids. They respond very well. One student in particlar, was fascinated by the vouchers and worked exceptionally hard to earn them. Before we started the voucher system he was out of control and unable to stay buckled in his seat for any length of time. That all changed in the first week and he remained one of our best behaved kids the rest of the year!
Rating: Summary: What a difference! Review: I just started the voucher system last week while my husband was out of town. What a nice surprise awaited him. The kids were so excited and wanted to keep it a surprise and see if he noticed a difference. He did! The vouchers offer the motivation they needed. They are learning better time management, the advantage of planning ahead, and economics. The first day I started The Voucher System, I actually got the giggles as I sat in the chair nursing my new baby while the other four kids raced around doing work and begging me for more things to do so they could earn points. Things they had completely taken for granted were suddenly important. Instead of nagging or getting upset, I simply give deductions for whatever they have done wrong and my kids accept it gracefully and we move on. It amazes me how quickly it has turned around negative behavior by focusing on positive behavior. This system has taken a lot of the frustration away and given our home a wonderful calm that I never want to give back. The kids are every bit as happy as I am! We are having more fun and free time as a family. I heartily recommend it to any family! I'm grateful to Gail for The Voucher System and the willingness to help me get started, both on the phone and via e-mail. I thank the Lord for my friend who recommended this program to me!
Rating: Summary: A simple, manageable solution! Review: My ADHD son and I just started using the voucher system. I was skeptical at first, especially after reading you should give your child 500 vouchers at the start which he can pick out himself. Once you explain the system to him, he is supposed to be excited to begin putting it into practice. I wondered how my oh-so-logical son would react to having to use vouchers to 'buy' things he had gotten fairly easily before (i.e. tv time) and to having points deducted for poor behavior (he was only used to being rewarded for good behavior - a practice which hasn't been too successful!). I was amazed when I explained the system to him and he spent ages reading the Kids Info Sheet and going through the vouchers, deciding which ones to start with. He was really enthusiastic about beginning the system and showing me that he could earn points. He didn't even squeek when I made his first deduction, he simply accepted it. If this system continues as well as it started, I will be one happy mom - with one happy kid!
Rating: Summary: Worthy of Praise Review: My husband and I had lost the "joy" of parenting, but this valuable system has brought it back. We are very pleased with the results, and the speed to which we have seen them. The biggest help this program has been is the fact that it holds everyone in the family accountable. The parents first because we are remaining consistent (Yeah!) and enjoying not nagging, loosing our cool, etc. Second, the kids are motivated big time, and have really enjoyed earning privileges, rather than just expecting them. Like the book says it solves the "entitlement" issue. Our kids are only 6, 5, and 4 (with no "behavior" issues like ADD, etc.) and within 3 weeks we are a different household, the peace has returned! If you are like us and have a hard time sticking to what you say or remaining consistent, this program will help you restore the joy parenting should be!!!
Rating: Summary: Outstanding System-covers a wide range of behavior problems Review: Thanks so much for The Voucher System. Our 6 year old daughter is VERY strong-willed. We couldn't believe we had no control over her...what would we do when she became a teenager? She had no concept of the word no, would accept no responsibility, and we fought all the time. Since we've been using the system things are gradually changing for the better. She still challenges us not to use the system, but then will continue wanting to earn points and her friends are right there beside her encouraging her to behave so she can earn points for a play date. I feel I have found a system that works for all of us. She is finally learning that no means no. What we needed and had been missing for years, was a constant set of guidelines to keep us consistent. I can't thank you enough for writing the book and for your support.! -Diana King
Rating: Summary: EVERY HOUSEHOLD SHOULD HAVE ONE Review: This program has made all the difference in how we handle things. We're more patient, consistent, relaxed and confident in our parenting. My daughter loves it! It's easy to use and comes with everything, even a complete set of directions and really nice vouchers. My child was out of control before we began The Voucher System. Now she knows there will be consequences and rewards for her actions. I find it pretty easy to be consistent with this program and easier to plan things because of the vouchers. Things I had tried in the past either didn't last or she didn't enjoy them the way I did. This makes parenting easier on my husband and I since she is not always trying to get out of doing it. My daughter's teachers have noticed a difference in her behavior at school just by us using it at home. I'm thinking of getting the school version for them to use with her; they agreed to try it. I am so glad we found The Voucher System! Our home is a much happier place. I can't say enough about this program. Every household should have one!
Rating: Summary: The Voucher System with Special Needs Children Review: We have been using the voucher system for well over two years with our three children. We have one child with ADHD, one with autism and one typical child who is quite strong willed. The voucher system has taken the difficulty out of parenting behavior issues! We have a hands on style... we exchange vouchers in hand for everything, and it works perfectly to motivate our children. I highly recommend the voucher system to all parents, not just those wtih special needs children! It is worth every penny it costs, and more!

Rating: Summary: SO FAR, SO GOOD! Review: We started the voucher system on sunday after church, after much prep on my part and also prepping the kids. (read it all) I cannot believe the difference. I have caring, sharing, helpful, respectful (most of the time) children. My son does tell me he is not even part of the system when it suits him, but he is working just as hard as the other 2. Also, they have been sooooooo loving to me, and me with them. So far it seems that this is a program that I can deal with. I seem to be able mean what I say without letting my kids change my mind and all without yelling or nagging. Praise God for Gail Brewster.
