Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A must for anyone interested in sexology and law !
Review: A reference book for both sexologists and criminologists, or anyone interested in human sciences with basic understanding of the DSM-III-R / DSM -IV psychiatric terminology. Contains interesting analysis of incest laws and their cultural backgrounds, fine description of pedophilia and other paraphilias, prostitution and sexual harassment and transsexualism (with regard to sex reassignment and law). The second part of the book deals with the identification and case management of sex offenses, among which the allegations of satanism and ritual sex abuse, the manufacture of sexual abuse "memories", the alleged child victim and real victims of sexual abuse. Part three offers some views on paraphilic prevention and its social and legal implications, i.e. the social tolerance versus criminalization debate. Further contributions include: the alleged link between pornography and violence, the psychiatric complications of AIDS, and forensic sexology in China and Russia. A must on the bookshelves of academics and professionals in human sciences !
