Rating: Summary: Making All the Difference Review: This book stands as a true watershed--finally, there exists a resource for women who want to find a balance between Eastern and Western medicine, between their bodies and their minds, between their power as women and their place as humans. I highly recommend this book for anyone (not just women!) struggling to find health and healing in a manner that goes beyond the traditional boundaries of medical convention. I also recommend that it be read cover to cover, as each chapter offers insight into the profound processes of the body and its care. Dr. Northrup truly makes all the difference for women everywhere with her remarkable synthesis and insight into women's bodies and wisdom!
Rating: Summary: I was frankly disappointed in this book. Review: I know I'm in the minority, but I was very disappointed in this book, and wasn't surprised to see Doctor- gurus like Deepak Chopra and Bernie Siegel heartily recommending it. Dr. Northrup seems to mesh gynelogical information with a lot of New Age philosophy. You are what you eat, you got fibroids because your mindset's wrong, and you can't get pregnant because you don't really want to. She also has good things to say for Shamans, members of Wicca, and Tarot cards. In short, I really don't think I'd consult this woman if I needed to see a gynecologist.
Rating: Summary: Yes you should buy and read this book Review: At my age in life I don't buy many self help books. But this book has been such an inspiration to me. I bought two more copies for both of my daughters who have children in college. They told me it was the best gift I had ever given them. It is my source book for ideas and inspiration. My daughter's use Neurosync MIME to set and achieve goals and say they have felt this book empowers them to positive thinking about life and to never stop trying to improve and change for the positive.

Rating: Summary: Dr. Northrup just makes good sense. Review: I bought this book for myself, and for my two sisters for our birthdays this year. After we saw Dr. Northrup in her Public Television specials, I had to follow up and purchase the books. It's excellent - written in a very matter-of-fact style, with lots of thought provoking information. A great reference work, we'll refer to it again and again, I'm sure.
Rating: Summary: I was taken aback! Review: Parts of this book were wonderful, however, I cannot recommend it for infertile women. I am not infertile because "deep down I know my husband is the wrong man to get pregnant with." I am infertile because I have a diagnosed medical condition which makes all my pregnancies ectopic. I believe in the mind/body connection, but this is pushing it. If women miscarry because they are ambiguous or unsure of motherhood, how does the author explain all the emotionally distraught, pregnant teenagers who have healthy babies? I don't think this book is a positive source of information for infertile women.
Rating: Summary: A WONDERFUL BOOK OF HEALING AND SELF LOVE Review: I read Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom after having a myomectomy. The most important thing I learned is the affect of self love and self respect on one's mental and physical health. How can you go wrong with that? I have given this as a gift to several friends and family members with the following suggestion: "Take from this book what works for you." Even if you find some of the personal stories and points of view a bit "out there", (I did) you will undoubtedly benefit from reading this book. Every woman I know who has read this gives it a glowing review and has recommended it to someone else. I think even the most conservative woman will find Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom well worth the read. I hope Dr. Northrup finds a male audience as well.
Rating: Summary: Every woman should have this book! Review: I can not imagine how I lived these many years without such accurate and vital information concerning our(women's) health. This book is truly a "God-send" and I am forever grateful to Dr. Northtrup for caring enough to enlighten so many of us who were starving for understanding and truth.P.S After reading this book, I purchased one for my teenaged daughter and one for my pregnant daughter-in-law.
Rating: Summary: Everyone should read this book, very empowering, informative Review: This book is a very important book for woman and men to read. It's empowering and full of wisdom. A must read.
Rating: Summary: This book put Holistic Women's Health Care on the map! Review: As a holistic OB/GYN medical doctor, I have found Dr. Northrup's excellent and unique book very useful professionally, and often recommend it to my patients. It can help women heal deeply, not just mask symptoms. Her newsletter, Health Wisdom for Women, is also very practical and useful, although unfortunately it has been corrupted at times by monetary and commercial interest. The new edition of the classic Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom, as well as her many tapes, are highly recommended to any woman interested in taking charge of her own health.
