Summary: Change yourself, change the world
Review: In Promethues Rising, Robert Anton Wilson tells you how to alter your brain in a positive fashion. He teaches you to see the world differently, though not neccasarily his way. What he has done is written a book which demonstrates how the human miund can be either used for freedom or slavery. The choice is up to us.

Using Leary's model of the Eight Circuit nervous system Wilson explain such things as patriotism, brainwashing, and morality. He then systematically shows you how to brainwash yourself for fun and profit. The exercises are the main benefit of the book. This is taking into account all the uselful information he provides on each circuit, along with corespondences to the Tarot and James Joyce.

Wilson's hopeful outlook and crazy sense of humor keep the book moving through material that could, in the hands of a less skillfull writer, be hard to wade through. The only danger is that some readers might mistake his light hearted approach as a sign that he can't be taken seriously.

Really, the world has gone through enough blunders and attempt to change it "for the better". The answer is to change yourself first, then reach out to others. This book is one way of beginning that process.

Summary: Fun read
Review: This is a wonderful book that will titilate your brain cells and make them buzz with glee at its intelligence and wit.

Summary: Sorry I missed the 70s
Review: Although I enjoyed some mind-altering experiences in my youth, I can't say I reached the same plane of understanding as Wilson apparently did -- I don't see a conspiracy of people who won't give credibility to my writing. In other words, I understand why the so-called "liberal press" would not review this book -- it borders on the pit of personal drivel and hopefully someone will push it in...

On a positive note, I agree that we may reach immortality in that more of us will be able to leave records of our lives using the Internet or other mass media for the next generation to see.

Summary: What a wonderful world...
Review: ... it would be if you could strap everyone down and force them to read this book! I've given away almost a dozen copies through the years, and every recipient has enjoyed it immensely. It touches so many subjects -- quantum mechanics, shamanism, psychology, politics and sex, just to name a few. Get a copy and re-read it every couple of years. It's the one book I can truly say will change you . You will see the world with new eyes.

Summary: Prometheus Rising
Review: A must read for anyone interested in engaging their potential and exceeding it... Robert Anton Wilson combines pieces of Crowley's magical experiments, mixed with general semantics, quantum physics, Timothy Leary and too many other references to list... This man is brilliant...

Summary: A User's Manual for Your Brain
Review: This is absolutely my number one pick for trying to make sense of him/herself and all the other monkeys around. This book will change your life. I know that someone probably tried to sell you a Book of Mormon or Dianetics that way, but this is the real deal. Find out for yourself.

Summary: I'm still amazed
Review: The best thing about this book is it's ability to prove itself right. I'm not just amazed at the book though: I'm also amazed at

1) how people can misread facts
2) how people can not bother to read what is written
3) how little people can learn from such a wise book

I've now read this book three times and would still admit to having fully grasped only half it's treasures. It is as many others have said, "a manual for the brain". It's the book I always wanted to write (or read). I'm not going to summarize it's content here though, because it will spoil it. That's about the highest praise I can think of giving a NON-Fiction book. I urge you to get it at the earliest oppertunity, then read it, slowly and carefully...
Thankyou Bob!

Summary: Not like other stuff
Review: If you've read some of Wilson's other stuff, I found this one a bit over the top. It's a bit boring. Left me feeling like a moron for not having anything good to say about it, really. But if you've read the Illuminatus Triology, it's certainly not like those stories! If I'm missing the boat, I'll put my dunce cap on and go sit in the corner. Judging by other reviews, some people got it.

Summary: silly non serious crap
Review: I read this book a few days ago (the german translation indeed) the book is filled with non scientific and not proofable conlusions and theories, a mélange out of not really understood catch phrases ( i mean it seems as if the author had not understood the meaning of them ) and speculatory conjunctions of different scientific theories. For example the quantum mechanics and clairvoyance. No one with a little bit of an enlightened and critically education is able to believe more 10% of the content.

Summary: for the love of yourself, read this book!!!!!
Review: after poring over tons of crowley, pope pete's chaos theorems, castaneda, and a host of general new age rubbish, this is the one book that really blew my mind and presented a valid way to empower myself in ways that would never have occured to me two weeks before - even Austin Osman Spare has some hefty competition here... do what you have to, this is It.
