Rating: Summary: Better named: Randomly Abridged Power of Now Review: This book is about packaging a poorly abridged version of a truly great spiritual guide. I am not a reader of "spiritual" guides but found the original "Power of Now" to be a deep, rich, and incredibly clear book of a Truth about life that nothing in me can refute. It has become a truly important experience for me - life changing. I have purchased many copies for friends and they in turn have done the same. This book "Practicing the Power of Now" is a watered down version of the original and in my reading of it, much less powerful. I have read the original twice and it remains strong for me, but this book is very, very abridged, strangely formatted, and does not feel to contain the essence of the original. The words that are in it are EXACTLY the same as those in the original and although I am sure there are exceptions, I confirmed this by choosing four pages at random and then found the text in the original. Much is left out and the formatting is distracting. Tolle and the publishers can be very, very proud of the original, but frankly, they should be deeply ashamed of this book. Although there is a need for a book that is to be used as a tool for practice by readers of the first, this book is most certainly not it. I will be seeking a refund and I hope that others do as well.
Rating: Summary: Wait! Don't buy this if you have THE POWER OF NOW Review: This book is exerpts from The Power of Now. I can't say anything that would do justice to The Power of Now but if you have it do NOT buy this book!
Rating: Summary: A Handy Primer of Teachings from The Power of Now Review: This book is never to far from me. I carry it with me constantly. One of the suggestions he makes in the introduction is how it can be used for meditative reading. He makes it clear that meditative reading isn't done to gain new information but rather to enter a different state of consciousness. He goes on to state that this approach allows one to gain fresh insights upon reading the same material. I think that's an important point for anyone considering the purchase of this book. No, it's not new material. But it does present his teachings in an accessible format that can inspire. I simply pick it up and turn to a page at random and begin reading. It can be a powerful experience when you do that in a state of present moment awareness. Often when we find a spiritual teaching that resonates with us, we keep searching for more and more of it-- new books, tapes, resources as if what we've initially encountered needs upgrading. However, this teaching is full and complete. We may find some of the additional works help to clarify things but the real task is to move in the direction that The Power of Now points to and that is to be in the Now. Reading only points to it, we have to put the books down at some point and simply be.
Rating: Summary: LIVING IN THE MOMENT! Review: This book makes an excellent companion to "The Power of Now." The exercises found among these pages causes one to do some deep soul searching to determine what is important in life and what is truly insignificant. Even if you have not read Eckhart Tolle's "The Power of Now", which I strongly recommend readers do, this thought-provoking workbook can be used as a stand-alone book. Tolle has a way of giving meaning to life by using exercises, meditations and essential teachings (many based on Buddhist philosophies) to bring peace, balance and harmony into our lives. The goal is to be able to bring about and sustain an enlightened state of consciousness in our daily lives. Tolle has a way of making the reader do some deep soul searching and reveal many truths about themselves that they might not otherwise do. In essence, the book causes one to "lighten the load" and follow a path of peace and harmony. This is truly a spiritual journey to a more enriched and meaningful life. The book is highly recommended and highly deserving of a five-star plus rating.

Rating: Summary: 5 stars for content but it's all excerpts from 1st book. Review: This is a beautiful little book but it is mainly, if not all, excerpts from Eckhart's excellent first book, "The Power of Now" which I didn't realize when I purchased it. Oh well, it's still good to have around. Check out his CDs: "The Realization of Being"
Rating: Summary: Not the oak tree, but the acorn, the essential essence. Review: This is a deeply wonderful book. It is not what I (or apparently other readers) thought, but so what! Most things aren't what I think they are. If you were nourished by Eckhart's THE POWER OF NOW, then this is the essence and core of that book, without the questions that are in the previous book. Somehow it speaks to me even more strongly and more deeply now, after having read The Power of Now 2-3 times. I was ready for a more concentrated version of these teachings - and here they are, in a compact book. I live in New England, so its like taking a gallon of maple sap and simmering it down until you have a couple of ounces of maple syrup. Don't miss it. (...)
Rating: Summary: Get it "Now" Review: This is a wonderful companion piece to "The Power of Now". Meditation is a great stress reliever. And not worrying about where you came from or where you are going is the key to enjoying the present moment. great book. I also recommend the book I Talked To God And He Wants To Talk To You. It's another spiritual inspiration.
Rating: Summary: Excellent for Quick Reference Review: This is basically part three of Tolle's first book, The Power of Now. It is an easy reference to the basic "how to" stuff we need every day. It is small, easy to carry around in a purse or backpack, tuck into a desk drawer etc. I would recommend you first read The Power of Now and then go to this book. Others have gone straight to Practicing without the first book, and I think they are missing something in the overall philosophy. Overall, and excellent resource and well worth buying when you want to get right to the heart of his philosophy.
Rating: Summary: Practicing the Power of Now Review: This is the best book that I have read in a long time. I orginally purchased the Power of Now and heard about this book from a friend. I enjoyed the book so much that I purchased 3 more books for friends. This book gives you the tools in which to work with and showing you a way to a peaceful life. A must for everyone.
