Summary: Fake Customer Reviews?
Review: This is the first and only negative review I've ever written even though I generally order and read more than 15 books each month. (But this is the first get-organized type of books I read.) I'm very disappointed with this book. I bought the book right away after reading the several dozen super-positive reviews about this book. However, the more I finished reading the book, the more I got disappointed and upset. Yes -- UPSET -- because the book contains a lot common sense statments and there are 50+ rewiews claiming that it is the best book they've ever got to save them and I feel being cheated! For example, the writer writes common sense things such as "buy one more hanging rod if your closet runs out of space", "get more shelves if you need more space", "put the cutting board, knives, seasoning, etc, near the area you cut and prepare food", "get a L-shaped or U-shaped desk for an office", "group t-shirts together and group trousers together in the closet"... many many this kind of everyone-should-already-have-known "advices". The author tends to write many general so-called advices without really teaching disorganized people a system to solve the real mess. (I gave the book to my husband to read and he holds the same kind of comments on the book.) I have two questions: (1) Are all those super-positive reviews real or fake? (2) How can someone writes something like this and still sell? In my (humble) opinion, it is a waste of time and money to buy and read this books. Moreover, if you try to get this book after reading those over-positive reviews, like me, you will be even more disappointed and upset with the book.

Summary: A truly wonderful book.
Review: This is a great book with Real solutions for those of us who want to get organized, for good. It's excellent for anyone who has tried to get organized and it didn't last. On top of that it's not the typical, boring "always - put - this - here - and -that - there" book. (thank goodness!) THAT is the writing anyone could do. She makes it interesting & work according You, the individual :) Have a great read!

Summary: Two years later I'm still using this book!
Review: I bought this book two years ago and have used it for everything from organizing my closet to cleaning out my garage. It's written so that you read the first portion of it, mull it over and then as you decide to organize something you can refer to that particular section in the book. You don't have to read it from beginning to end - which is good for someone who is disorganized. When the spirit moves you to get things organized it does not want to read for hours on end.

I'm a relatively organized person but tended to let things go from time to time and it helped me figure out ways to set my areas up so they were easier to maintain. She also speaks from a position of acceptance and understanding that what works today may not work down the road and that it's ok if you have to change your system. In other words, you're ok if a year from now your garage is starting to get out of control again. Instead of letting it get as bad as it may have been before you can now tackle it a little more proactively and make those small changes.

The last thing that I really loved about this book was it forced me to think a ton about what it was I was launching into. It made me do things like plan time on my calendar so I couldn't blow it off. It helped me set my expectations as to how long it would take. By the time my husband and I started we already had a very clear vision of what it would be like when we were done and how long we would have to work on it. It also made the sort/purge more managable.

To me the true test of a resource type book like this is whether you ever crack it open after you first get it. Two years after first buying it, I'm still referring to it for all my ongoing organizing needs.

Summary: A Great Resource to Organize Your Home & Your Life!
Review: The timing of my reading this book could not have been better. My husbad & I recently moved into a new home and I have used this wonderful book in organizing our new living space. Many people have used Ms. Morgenstern's system to successfully organize their existing home and/or office, while I have used it to create order in our new home, office, laundry room, etc. In setting up our home using Ms. Morgenstern's system, I have also gained more self confidence. I can quickly locate items I need, where in our previous home, I would have had to look for them and ultimately second guess where I had placed them before finding my keys, notes, cell phone.

Another book I highly recommend that has facilitated a greater sense of self confidence in me, is called 'Working On Yourself Doesn't Work" by Ariel and Shya Kane. This book is similar to Ms. Morgenstern's system where the basis of transformation in your living space is not based on "problem solution" but in seeing what is true for how you work or live in your office or home and seeing what works and doesn't work for you without judging what you find. In that sense you are able to create lasting ease in your life as well as in your office. I highly recommend reading these insightful books for anyone interested in creating an easy, satisfying and efficient life for themselves.

Review: This book refreshes a lot of things that you already knew but never really put into action, and it gave you new ways to look at things. I highly recommend it!

Summary: This is the One I've Been Looking For!
Review: This book is fantastic! I've read and re-read it for all the great ideas that it contains. Julie's "kindergarten model of organization" is so obvious, that few of us would ever think of it I'm sure, but it works like a charm. Julie's methods and ideas prevent you from wasting a lot of time and money, and help you wind up with something that you can not only live with, but easily maintain. If you're "organizationally challenged" or even if you think you're pretty organized right now, but would like to get better, this is the book to read! I highly recommend it!

Summary: This book truly changed my life.
Review: This book is different from all other organizing books I tried in the past. This one teaches you to work AROUND bad habits, learn to accommodate them and create an organized household based on YOUR habits. My husband can now find things! It also convinced me to get rid of old reading materials I was "saving" for when I had time. Well, whoever gets so much free time they can read magazines that are months, even years old? I tossed so much and felt a little sick about it, but now I'm glad. I still have a ways to go, but this book is just wonderful. I would recommend this organizing book over all others. Julie Morgenstern is a goddess.

Summary: Home Organization is Elementary!
Review: I admit it, I'm addicted to organization books, even though my house is usually in shambles -- a cry for help, I guess. Although most of them just sit on my shelves, "Organizing from the Inside Out" is packed with helpful info that I actually used.

Morgenstern's best advice -- organize each room in sections according to their usage, like a kindergarden classrom does -- was worth the price of the book alone.

Armed with her book and a free afternoon, I transformed my kitchen into an efficient work center. Instead of a random mishmash of dishes and pans, I now have well-thought-out areas like my beverage center (where I store my coffee maker, tea pot, mugs, teas, Vita Mix, etc...). It's so much easier when like things are grouped together!

My home still has a ways to go, but I feel like the goal is now in sight thanks to this book.

Summary: Be prepared to work....
Review: I'd like to start off saying that this book is very practical and makes a lot of sense. It makes me keep saying to myself "Now why didn't I think of that?". After using the plan for a while, I have found that my thinking is more hopeful and logical.

Be prepared to work and give yourself plenty of time. One of the statements in the book says it can take up to 12 hours to sort each item in a room (and that's only one room). And that's only one part of the process! This is true but that's a lot of tedious work. Pace yourself and set realistic goals to finish. I've only done one room so far. Keep in mind also to budget if you have to buy containers for each room you tackle.

I've only done one room and I can see that it will take a while to get through the whole house. I'm now starting my second room. The first room is a real motivator because I thought it was hopeless.

It's a great book and lots of luck. I think it's worth the effort.

Summary: It Changed My Life!
Review: I am already organized and in no need of this book. I bought the first copy for my mom and just "dipped in" before I gave it to her. Whoa! It helped me organize a few areas of my life I was just ignoring! I then started passing out copies like candy to my friends. No fewer than three told me "Thanx! It changed my life!" Julia's approach is much better than those endless lists of what to buy or what to do. She helps you figure out what is unique to your life and how to organize it! Great book. (Unfortunately my mom didn't read it!)
