Rating: Summary: You can't "Reclaim" Something that was Never There. Review: I fear that this book will only compound the problem it attempts to cure .....which, primarily, is a societal misunderstanding about the sexuality of women. To understand my reasoning, you may want to consider a very useful (if too scholarly for some) book: "The Social Dimension of Sex." Upon reading the above noted book, one will(may?) come to the conclusion that there is nothing wrong with most women's sexuality - women ARE "built" differently than men! There is NO mention of this ongoing debate in the "For Women Only" book. Let's stop putting pressure on women to be the sexual beings that(most) are NOT, and figure out ways that can meet the different sexual needs of both sexes in a typical (...meaning average) hetro relationship. This is your typical(...whatever you want that to mean...) "let's hype a problem" self-help book that does more harm than good for most...... that is, unless you're the authors.
Rating: Summary: A MUST READ FOR ANY WOMAN! Review: I found the mind/body approach of "For Women Only" insightful and easy to understand. Whether you're trying to tackle sexual problems or just hone your game, this book covers the gamut of issues related to finding sexual well being. Rating: Summary: finally some answers Review: I had actually lost hope... until I found this book. I actually saw the doctors Berman on their Discovery Health talk show first. The book outlines all areas of female sexual function and dysfucntion as well as the cutting edge potential therapies. I took it to my doctor who is now recommending it to all his patients. A must read for all women of any age
Rating: Summary: Two Sisters Capitalizing on Media Hype? Review: I had high expectations for this book as female sexual dysfunction is a subject that does warrant attention. But this title was very disappointing to me; it lacks real substance, is poorly written, and extols the virtues of "the little blue pill." I should have been forewarned when I discovered the credentials of these supposed experts include appearances in "Cosmopolitan" and "Glamour" magazine.
Rating: Summary: Good Start! Review: I think this book has been great. It doesn't only tote Viagra. It discusses other options for people that can't take hormones or afford the little blue pill. It has opened up a whole new area for exploration into where to start to rectify any problems you may be having. I think that if you're looking for a place to start finding the solutions to your problems, this is the book for you.
Rating: Summary: Anti-doctor, Anti-men Review: I was really looking forward to this book. I was very disappointed. I feel that all they did was bash doctors, bash men, and extoll the virtues of Viagra.
Rating: Summary: one big advertisement Review: I was VERY disappointed in this book. I felt it had very little information about female sexual dysfunction, and TONS of information about the Berman sisters' clinic. It seemed like every other sentance started with "At our clinic..." Also, to make matters worse, these so-called experts on women's sexual health spelled vulvodynia wrong throughout the entire book!!! I recommend "for each other" by Lonnie Barbach, or a book on your specific condition, like "The Vulvodynia Survival Guide".
Rating: Summary: Thank God for These Two Women Review: If it weren't for Jennifer and Laura Berman I'd be divorced and definatley would be suicidal. This book and these two women have helped me to regain my sex life and save my marriage and my life. I watch their show every night on Discovery Health and have also been a patient of theirs. Any woman who is experiencing changes in her sexuality should buy this book. It's also a great reference to know what to expect when we get old, after surgery, as a result of medications etc. God bless them!!
Rating: Summary: better than cosmo! Review: Like many guys, I get way to much of my information on a women's perspective on sex by browsing cosmopolitan magazine in airport terminals. this book is a true gem. from the case histories which many couples can relate to, to the historical perspective of the role of sex in women's lives, to the emotional and physical factors that effect how a woman feels about sex, this book is informative and really readable.the message is great for women (and their partners!). almost any problem can be dealt with if the source of the difficulty is pin pointed. i loved this book. now i can go back to reading sports illustrated!
