Rating: Summary: SUPERB, WELL-ROUNDED REFERENCE! Review: Although the book is somewhat light on homoerotic and autoerotic issues, and graphic references lean toward "conventional" male-female pairing, women with and without partners, of either or both sexes, will find new information about themselves and their bodies in this book. It is truly illuminating. Boca Bea, Boca Raton, Florida
Rating: Summary: For Women Only Review: An excellent book. You do not have to have a sexual dysfunction to benefit from this book. Many women, let alone men, do not understand a woman's sexual anatomy and it's normal sexual function. This information as well as sexual dysfunction is discussed an easy to read, clear, and concise manner. Women and men both can improve their sex lives with the information from this book.
Rating: Summary: Breakthrough Information for all Review: As a Healthcare profesional, I ordered this book to keep on top of trends in the marketplace. When I read it I was impressed by how insiteful and straight forward the authors are in addressing a subject that has been so inadequately discussed to date. The information is presented in a format that will help not only women and their partners, but healthcare providers alike. Thank god there is finally a resource for those in need!
Rating: Summary: Wonderfully Broad Fact-Filled Read! Review: As a psychologist, I am grateful to the Bermans for creating a reference that I can easily share with any of my patients regardless of their sex, sexual orientation, age or sexual activity level. In fact, 3 generations of women in my own family have pored over this book! What makes it so special is its unbiased presentation of a large array of medical treatment options beyond those which are traditionally available to my specialty. I expect that this long needed approach will significantly increase the cooperation between physicians and therapists in helping to resolve womens'sexual health problems. Although the Bermans'studies of female sexuality evidently started with the introduction of Viagra (for men), the thrust of their book goes way beyond Viagra, including many other options, both current and in the research pipelines. Nonetheless, non- medical advice and therapies are addressed comprehensively. I am looking forward to future updates from the Bermans as this exciting field develops.
Rating: Summary: Berman's are the Best Review: As women, we're getting bombared with self help sex books for women. This is the best one out there by far. I've read them all. Don't waste your time reading anything else.
Rating: Summary: MERELY WONDERFUL! Review: Enjoyed it so much, we just ordered ten copies for College Graduation gifts. Look forward to more from this dynamic duo.
Rating: Summary: For Women Only Review: For Women Only is not for women only! What an eye opener! There is something for everyone even remotely sexual to be found in every chapter. My wife and I have found its content catalytic to our relationship. Finally, a resource exists to give women comfort and information that so many desperately need.
Rating: Summary: Mediocre, bland, and sometimes inaccurate Review: Given that this book was written by a urologist (Jennifer) and a sex therapist (Laura), I thought it would be highly informative. I've read worse books, but this one was far from the best. My primary complaint is that its scope of coverage was too limited. Secondly, there were some shocking errors in it. Here's one: "Testosterone is also available over the counter in the form of DHEA ..." WRONG! I'm a doctor and an endocrinologist who feels that any "doctor" making such a statement needs to return to medical school! Here are the facts: (1) DHEA is one of the precursors to testosterone. (2) DHEA may or may not be converted into testosterone in the body. (3) DHEA may also be converted into estrogen, which can oppose the effects of testosterone. Therefore, it is inaccurate (and grossly misleading) to imply that DHEA is a form of testosterone. I also didn't like the monotonous, too-detached tone of this book. Perhaps that's the way the Bermans attempted to project an air of professionalism, but rather than coming off as professional, the book just seemed to lack vibrance. Therefore, it wasn't enjoyable to read. Its insipid nature would have been tolerable if there weren't those glaring factual errors -- I apologize for harping about them, but such mistakes are (or should be) an embarrassment to the authors.
Rating: Summary: For Women Only Review: Groundbreaking subject matter presented in an easy-to-read format that is right on target for women of all ages. One suspects that it will be appealing to the full spectrum of womanhood: from pubescent to postpartum; from prostitutes to professors, hoping to enlighten their students with its highly instructive content.
Rating: Summary: Life changing work Review: I am both a gynecologist and a woman with my share of difficulties in the bedroom. Not only do I think this will change my own life with my husband, but after having read this book, I am seriously considering someday pursuing sub-specializing in the field of female sexual dysfunction. What ground-breaking material these women have written! I've already recommended it to at least ten patients this week alone, and am anxious to see what the ongoing research in this field turns up. This book is sure to be required reading for all gynecologists in training, as up until now it's been one of those complaints you can sympathize with, but not do a whole lot about as a doctor. Bravo to the Bermans and their collegues for pioneering this long overdue research and treatment of the whole woman patient.
