Summary: Great Portable Handbook for Weight Training!
Review: A friend gave me this book which I really liked. It's easy to use with lots of photos and very simple instructions. As a beginner, it's something I can take with me to the gym. It's a handy size which makes it much more practical than a Dummies book. I think that people will find weight training to be much easier with the help of this book. I highly recommend it as a vital edition to Tony Robbins' Physical Mastery Program.

Summary: Next best thing to a personal trainer.
Review: Everything you need to get started on a good weight training program (or get out of a circuit rut)...should be in your gym bag at all times (except when you're using it).

Summary: Good book to get you into weight training
Review: The book is well structured into a program of 12 weeks of 3 rutines per week. Everything is layout for you, the types of exercises, the weight to lift, the number of repetions, and the rest time between sets. After the first week the author varies the types of exercises and each week also there is a different type of training method. The author uses the "take you by your hand" approach which is very effective for those who need guidance or motivation to start with a training program. I wish the author would have included more exercises types per muscle group, for example there is only one exercise for tricep, and 2 for biceps. Also the muscle groups at the back of the book should have been organized in a more logical fashion for an easier search.

Summary: An excellent book for novice weight training
Review: After I finished reading this book, one can see this book is very easy to understand and follow. In fact, it is too basic for me. I don't claim to know everything there is to know about weight training. James Orvis does a great job telling you what you should be doing like he were talking to youpersonally. There are workout logsheets where you can record how much weight you used, reps, etc.which are very useful in monitoringyour progress. If you are an advanced weight trainer, avoid thisbook altogether, buy it if you arejust starting out. Definitely a must for begginers.

Summary: 7 Weeks Into The Workouts, and I'm Proof This Book Works!
Review: I have been following "Weight Training Workouts that Work" for 7 weeks and I'm seeing muscles I never new I had. I thought I new how to workout in high school and college but I wasn't scratching the surface compared to the workouts in this book. This is no nonsense and no hype. Follow the simple workouts and you will see your whole body transformed. As the book says, "Don't watch other people because they're probably doing it wrong....". Just believe in yourself, trust yourself to learn and follow through. You will not be disappointed!!

Summary: I am no longer intimidated!!!
Review: I am a 40 year old woman, I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthrtis in February of this year, and put on steroids to avoid deformity in my hands. The doctors had mentioned that exercise was no longer an option, but a "must do". Being a novice to the gym, and knowing absolutely nothing about weight training, I felt very intimidated just watching everyone. I would try to copy what people were doing, but I soon found out that with arthritis you have some "bad days", and you are limited to certain exercises. When I approached a trainer to ask questions, they told me to sign up for 10 sessions for $650.00. Well not everyone can do that these days. I became depressed, I went online in search of the perfect video, or book, anything that would help. I stumbled on a review of this book, and the price was not going to break the bank!! I ordered it and 10 days into my work out, I am no longer uncomfortable at the gym, I know what to do! I don't have to ask around. I take the book to the gym with me, it is user friendly, I understand the terminology, and James Orvis writes it so there is no guessing involved!! Like the Nike commercial saids, "JUST DO IT!!" It gives you such a confidence high!!

I still have rheumathoid arthritis, but I have a stronger body now, and on thoes bad days, I mentally feel good! Order this book you will not regret it!! I emailed James, and he took the time out to respond, and he gave me the inspiration to keep up the good work, I do feel like I have a personal trainer!
