Rating: Summary: articulate and is useful book Review: this is a good book! it lets me understand my addiction to my ex is not totally incurable, and being human doesn't mean that we have to suffer the loss of love so long! so there are definitely ways to stop and rebuild ourselves. read it and it gives you a lot of useful suggestions to lesson and stop your pain.
Rating: Summary: I haven't actually read it yet Review: This is more of a question than a comment. I just bought this book after a break up with my boyfriend of four years. However, my situation is a little bit different than the book talks about. We are kind of in the limbo phase where he needs to grow as a person outside of the relationship but we both still love each other. But in order to do that, I think we both need to move onto the relationship and then come back to it (there was no fight before we broke up, we still communicate). For anyone that has read it, do you think that this is an appropriate book for trying to move on from a love even though there is a possiblity of getting back together? Also, would you recommend reading the whole book at once and then working on each skill week by week or should I just read each chapter as the weeks pass? I would appreciate any imput. Thanks a lot!
Rating: Summary: Very helpful... but not if your ex is a pilot... Review: Throughout the book, the fear of flying is referenced as a comparison to various breakup emotions. Of course, since my ex is a pilot, that made it harder for me to read the book. But I still am getting a lot out of it!
Rating: Summary: Good Advice but WAY too clinical for most Review: While the advice in the book is good overall - It's written so clinically that the average reader has to take more time than they should to put it in to practice -
As always the oldest adage is best - Time heals all wounds...
Rating: Summary: This book is the closest you will get to "the cure" Review: Years ago I read this book after the break up with my first girlfriend. I was able to let go and move on with my life in a couple months. Then I had another girlfriend and broke up, but did not read the book or apply the techniques. I thought about her for years. Now I am reading the book again after the break up of a 7 year relationship. I feel so much better after following the advice in Letting Go. This book is the closest thing to a cure for a broken heart. Thanks Dr. Tracy and Dr. Wanderer!
