Summary: This book works!
Review: To those who have read the negative reviews and might be persuaded into not buying this book: drop your expections. No this book is not The Power of Now. This book takes a different approach and has no need to explain or convince. This book is indeed short and concise. But Tolle's words are powerful. If you just keep reading a chapter a night before bed - say over 15-20 minutes, pausing to reflect between passages, you will remember his words during the day and find yourself in stillness more and more. It has worked for me.

Review: This is simply brilliant! Eckhart Tolle has indeed done a modern version of the 'Sutras' of Ancient India, and here is a book where less is more. Providing what we need most today - breathing space! For those familiar with The Power of Now, this book provides a deepening of the teaching. Thank you Eckhart. You have proved that we don't need tomes of heavy spiritual literature to get pointers to the Truth. Your book roars with Stillness.

Summary: a better choice
Review: I loved the power of now, but this new book was very difficult for me to really get anything from. I understood that I needed to experience what the words were pointing to. But, it just didn't happen. For those new to Eckharts work, The Power of Now is very worth while reading.

Summary: Very Disappointing
Review: Like many, I was eagerly awaiting this book. It wasn't worth the wait. If you have read The Power Of Now, read or listened to other materials by the author, or have even a passing familiarity with advaita/nonduality/awakening/presence, etc. etc. etc., then you've taken in everything that is in this book many times over. It has the feel of something that was quickly slapped together by the author and/or publisher to cash in on the success of The Power of Now. And as such, it lacks the very thing that made that book so fantastic (and an outright publishing phenomenon)..........the sense of Presence! You could feel it flowing from every page of T.P.O.N., but it is nowhere to be found in this small volume. And even taking into consideration the outrageous increase in the cost of books, 17 dollars for this one is way too much. I love Eckhart Tolle and feel that he is an absolutely incredible teacher/author. But you'd never know it by this book. I realize that this type of subject matter doesn't lend itself well to being expressed verbally or through the written word and this book certainly attests to that if nothing else. But Mr. Tolle did a terrific job of writing about this topic in his first book (as have many others), so we know it's possible. He doesn't pull off the same thing in Stillness Speaks. He repeatedly makes the point that stillness and silence are what are important, but unfortunately you end up paying 17 dollars to read a book that points out the fact that words aren't neccessary to this Understanding and can even stand in the way. He should've heeded his own advice and just remained silent this time. Maybe posting the short "reminders" in this book on his website would've been a nice gift to all the readers who bought The Power Of Now and made him a very wealthy man. I certainly don't mean to imply that he's in it for the money. In the world of "spirituality", the author is the real deal... which is rare in itself. But everyone who not only purchased his first book, but did their best to put his teachings into practice in their lives, deserved better than this as a follow up.

Summary: Stillness Did Not Speak To Me
Review: This is a book that I regret reading. The material is nothing more than scraps from his first book The Power of Now. The ideas presented here are for the most part rather silly and off the wall. There is no order to the book. It's like Tolle just sat down at his kitchen table and began writing. Finally, there are more blank spaces that spaces filled with print, which makes this not really a book, but a book in the making. I hope that Tolle produces a true book in the future that his fans can appreciate, instead of little one like this, which was disappointing to say the least.

Review: WOW, I was really looking forward to this book, but sadly there is not much here to get excited about. I could read the book in one sitting because the material is not thought provoking. What a let down and a negative surprise from an author who wrote his best work in his first book The Power of Now.

Review: This book is beautiful in its simplicity. Eckhart conveys deep and powerful truth with a minimum of words. He gets right to the essence. In my humble opinion Eckhart Tolle is the creme de la creme of contemporary spiritual teachers. Joan Tollifson is also one of my favorites.

Review: if your in need of comfort and wizdom,this but will do.i read thousands of books in my short time here on earth.and i must say tolle is what i have been looking for.he does not try to get you to belive in religon like others.thats why i have great respct for the man. this book is not like the power of now. i dont think it was meant to be.even still its just as great...rember spirituality and religon are two diffrent things.ps its not about how small the book is come on people wakeup!

Review: The content is essentially the same as that in "The Power of Now," but repackaged into bite-size contemplative nuggets. If you like opening a book at random, reading a few lines, and meditating upon it, then this is for you. Here's one of my favorite thought-bites: "Surrender to this moment, not to a story through which you interpret the moment and then try to resign yourself to it."
