Rating: Summary: Thank you for writing this book Review: This is the BEST non-fiction book I've ever read. Anyone who reads and applies what they learned from this book will have a richer life because of it. Dr. Baker articulated things about happiness that I've suspected all along: Having a great deal of money doesn't make you happy or that people need to feel productive to be happy, and too much leisure time isn't good for a person. I finally feel like my decision to be an elementary school teacher has been validated. The book is full of fascinating case studies without the psycho-babble. You will finish the book with strategies to make your life happier and ways to help those you love to be happier.
Rating: Summary: A Life-Affirming Read Review: Transfixing and eye-opening, this simply written book offers many opportuities to pause and reflect on your own life through the experiences of the author. Many times I had to stop and digest various thematic elements presented, so powerful is the message and the delivery. While the last third of the book loses some of the zest of the first 5 chapters and the supplement recommendations at the conclusion seem incongruent with the rest of the writing, this is a fabulous find.
Rating: Summary: Great info, beautifully written Review: Very clearly presented and helpful information that makes a ton of sense
Rating: Summary: A Wonderful Book! Review: WHAT HAPPY PEOPLE KNOW is a real wake-up call -- an invaluable treatise on graciously accepting the best parts of who we are and building on them in order to gain a true appreciation of how wonderful life can -- and should -- be. I've been in a bit of a funk lately and Dr. Baker's book seems to have launched me right out of it. A "must read" for anyone looking to fall back in love with life.
