Rating: Summary: useful adjunct to Barry Sears' books Review: I've lost 30 pounds on the Zone Diet so I know it works, and it's not complicated to follow. Although I'm very familiar with the principles of the plan, I find this book a useful and inspirational addition to my low carb diet book collection.
Rating: Summary: moronic writing, misleading advice Review: I was profoundly disappointed by this book, which reads as if it were written by a bad artificial intelligence program. The entire CONTENT of the book could have taken up about ten pages -- the rest of it consists of the SAME tired sentences, repeated (I kid you not) WORD FOR WORD -- like a dense seventh grader trying to fill up the required pages in a book report. But that's not all: the diet plan itself is needlessly complex and misleading. Any weight you lose on this plan will be lost because the diet is VERY low in calories -- not because of the wacky combination of foods the Daousts (or the AI programs behind them) suggest. Save your money; save your time.
Rating: Summary: So good! Review: So far so good, we just read the book and have began discussing the types of meals we can have that wll work for us and go along with this program. Most of the diets do work for the first month or so we will see. Curtiss De Vedrine author - "The Second Coming Of Age"
Rating: Summary: it really makes things clear Review: the diet plan and easy way to understand the facts and details of the diet are great. The meal plans make the book and it all makes sense. It is easy to understand
Rating: Summary: easy to follow Review: After reading the first book the Dauost's had written on the 40-30-30 diet I could hardly wait for the new updated version. It is easy to read therefore making it easy to understand.I can recommend this version as well as the first with the confidence that you will enjoy it and will be able to follow it with ease. Not all diets make sense and are hard to follow. If you are thinking to buy any diet book put the "The Formula A Personalized 40-30-30 Weight Loss Program" at the top of your list.
Rating: Summary: I loved it! Review: I've been trying to find a diet that helps me drop some weight, while maintaining muscles. I'm 5'5 and was 118 lbs. In order to fit in my wedding dress in October, I wanted to lose some fat and gain some muscles to look better on the big day. The plan was easy to follow, and it's a no guilt system. I only follow the book for breakfast, lunch, and snack. I kind of just watch my portion with dinner, and guess what, in one month, I've lost 4 lbs. I know it's not much, but to me, it was quite difficult since I wasn't overweight. Now I'm looking better (since I work out 3-4 times a week), and I have energy, and I feel stronger. This diet doesn't leave me hungry or feeling dizzy. Besides, the zone diet also emphasizes on "Portion". It's about time for America to down-size a bit, and remember, by the time you feel full after a meal, you've already eaten more than you need. Hence, extra calories will be stored as fat. Besides, the book offers many recipes are easy to prepare and great in taste. I think everyone will benefit from this diet even if one doesn't need to lose any weight. It promotes a balance meal, which I believe it makes more sense than following the Atkin's diet.
Rating: Summary: Not much new from the '97 Daoust book Review: I bought this book because I already owned a copy of 40-30-30 Fat Burning Nurtrition, published in l997 by the same authors, and was wanting more recipes. I found this book, published 4 years later, was basically a rehash with very few new recipes, so I am disappointed. However, if you are a newcomer to the 40-30-30 way of eating, this book will tell you what you need to know.
Rating: Summary: Formula for Success Review: I never had a weight problem but after turning 45, age, gravity and a lifetime of careless eating began to take its toll. For seven years I tried to lose 10 pounds that I thought would make a difference. I had no idea how difficult that could be. Whether it was metabolism or ineffective diets, I don't know, but nothing worked. On a cruise last summer, the nutritionist suggested The Zone for my age, body type and goals. I got the Barry Sears Zone books and started the diet, with immediate weight loss as a result. I loved the idea of the Zone but found the system difficult to follow. Finding The Formula was a stroke of luck. The pounds melted off and I never "dieted." I have a new way of eating and I love it. I had fifteen pounds weight loss (141 pounds to 126) with no effort. I love the healthy, balanced meals and can't thank the Daousts enough for making a great diet even better. It is way of life for me and something I want to pass on to my kids and grandkids. A friend of mine just told me of her 22 pound weight loss and credits the great recipes in The Formula book that made it so easy for her. Don't hesitate to try it--what you will lose is weight and what you will gain is a balanced and healthy way of eating that makes more difference than just weight loss!
Rating: Summary: Absolutely amazing book! Review: I bought this book and began using the recipes in March of 2003. I have lost 5 inches from my waist and 40 pounds. My fiance has lost 25 pounds and 3 sizes. The food is good and the recipes are easy to follow. I recommend the Taco Soup and the Beef Stew.
Rating: Summary: Realistic, Effective yet So Simple!! Review: I am a hypnotherapist who specializes in weight loss. Anything I talk with my clients, I try first on myself, so I tried many weight-loss methods; Atkins, low-fat with complex carb, fasting, you name it. Emperically, I believe this book offers the healthiest way. I did not become animic, craving was easy to control because of the great balance, and so many easy-to-fix menu never bored me. Very do-able. Now along with my hypnosis, I offer this book to many clients, especially who seemingly have some kind of reaction to wheat and starchy food. They are losing weight very steadily!! There is no magic or miracle in weight management, but this book most effectively puts together information and demystifies diet. It has become a great tool for my hypnosis practice.
