Rating: Summary: Amazingly successful Review: I asked for this book for Christmas, giving me time to read it during the holidays as I planned to start on this meal plan for the new year. When i started this easy-to-follow plan, i weighed 252 pounds (I'm 6'3") with 29% body fat (according to my scale). I lost 13 pounds in 4 days, then more gradually, with occasional slips. I am now at an incredible 218 pounds (not even 3 months later) and 22% fat. I feel incredible, i can work long hours (self-employed)and my physical stamina has gone through the roof! I am in so much better shape than I was when I started this program... My cardio is great, i catch my breath a lot faster, in short, I'M A NEW MAN!! Thanks Gene and Joyce!
Rating: Summary: Terrific book but where is the index! Review: I found the information and recipes in this book terrific but was very frustrated by the lack of an index which can make locating information or recipes very difficult! WE NEED AN INDEX! On the other hand, the information and recipes are 5-star. This is an "easy to live with" 40-30-30 plan. Recipes are delicious and easy to make.
Rating: Summary: Life Saving Book- Review: This book has saved my life. I am a diabetic and my overall blood level was over 8.1. It is now 5.6 which is a normal blood count fora non-diabetic person. I love the receipes and the explations how the proteins, fats and carbohydrates work together. My doctor has said if I continue to loss weight I will no longer have to take medicine. I would love to see them do a cookbook. Everyone who wants or needs to loss weight should read this book. What a life style change. Thanks again.
Rating: Summary: Nothing new here Review: While I believe in 40-30-30 nutrition as a weight loss program and lifestyle, this book does not have anything the first book didin't. In fact I think the first book had more. Plus is was a small handy nice looking book. This one is large, doublespaced with large margins....like it's trying to "look" like a comprehensive book to justify the price. Luckily, I didn't buy the hardcover...definitely not worth the cover price! It also doesn't read professionally; it sounds sort of amateur and not really very scientifically based. I will keep it on the shelf for the meals, but I willl probably refer to the first book (40-30-30 Fat Burning Nutrition)much more often. I had spent $3.00 to get their meal planner booklet when I bought the first book and found all the meals in The Formula to also be in my $3.00 booklet.....still it's fun to get re-motivated by reading a new book!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: A Plan For Life Review: Most of us go through life with very little knowledge of how to eat. We pick up pieces of information here and there or follow a variety of fad diets that are too restrictive to stay on for any sustained period of time. This diet is not focused on the getting thin quick, although you will notice results within the first week. Instead, it presents you with an eating regimen that is balanced, sustainable and easy to fit into a modern lifestyle. And the food is Yummy too! I now have an eating plan to last me a lifetime, I have reached my target weight and body proportions, and I have seen a profound effect on my mental atitude and approach to life. You must buy this book!
Rating: Summary: The Formula: A Personalized 40-30-30 Weight Loss Program Review: It's a miracle! I can't believe how well this new, healthy way of eating works! I have tried every diet in the book - I have never seen results like this with other "diets". This is not a diet though - it is a way of life. It is also incredibly easy to follow and so satisfying. I've already lost 2 dress sizes in less than 2 months. I highly recommend this book to everyone! Thank you Gene and Joyce!
Rating: Summary: What a formula! Review: I cannot believe how clear this book makes eating right. This book contains menus that everyone in my family enjoys. My family is eating healthier as a result. I received a bonus that I did not expect. My son no longer wants the junk food or fast food. He wants to eat good foods like Mommy and Daddy. This floored me! I began to see results a couple of days after starting the fat flush eating plan. I could not believe the scale. It was encouraging. My husband claimed that he was hungry so I bumped him up to a proportion that fills him without causing any weight issues. He likes the food. I tried every other eating plan, diet, supplements that are out on the market. I was on the high protein-low carb diet. I have so many crazy excercise machines that I could open up a store. This book states that you do not have to excercise to see and feel the difference. This gave me new hope. It really made me rethink my eating ideas. The excercise did speed up the fat loss. My family never feels deprived. We are happy and energetic. We are losing weight and fat. Our immune systems are better. We are sleeping better as a result of this meal plan. This book I highly recommend. The theory is sound and the menus are wonderful. My only wish is that the meals took less time to prepare and did not require so many ingredients. But the time put in yields results.
Rating: Summary: The Formula Review: I just heard about this book and had not heard of the 40-30-30 program before either. Both my wife and I just started the "new way of eating" on 2-18. I started out at 240 and will post again after the 21 day fat flush session.

Rating: Summary: Challenging to adapt for those unable to tolerate dairy Review: I found this book to be very informative. It provides you with the basics of the plan and gives useful tips for eating away from home. I have not yet tried any of the recipes, but they sound good. Being allergic to cow dairy products, it is going to take a lot of effort to alter the diet and stay within the 40-30-30 guidelines. It would have been nice if the authors had given consideration to the many people like me who cannot tolerate dairy products.
