Summary: The easiest diet ever
Review: I would highly suggest this diet to anyone who's ever "tried everything. I have done the Adkins diet and lost 5 pounds in 4 days, but couldn't stick with it. This diet allows you a reward meal each day and that makes a BIG difference! The first thing I noticed was my appetite was completely under control. When I eat carbs at every meal I starve to death! Also my fluid retention, energy and mood are much better. The only downfall is if you eat a large portion of carbs during your reward meal you may have a hard time losing weight, but rest assured you won't GAIN weight. If you distribute carbs and protein during your reward meal you should start to lose. This eating is a way of life for me. Also you should expect to only see about 1-2 pounds of weight loss a week. But who cares when you don't even feel like your dieting!!! Good luck :)

Summary: Starving by dinner time
Review: I've only been on this diet for two weeks, but I haven't noticed any signifigant weight loss. The problem with this diet is that during the day I feel light-headed and, as a student, have trouble with my memory. By dinner time, my reward meal, I am starving. For example, I can wolf down a bowl of pasta, a bowl of cereal, a huge bagel, and a peanut butter sandwich within an hour and still feel hungry. I hardly see how consuming over a thousand calories in an hour is going to benefit me. I know carbohydrates are the reason I'm overweight (seeing as how I eat under 1,500 calories a day and jog 5 miles without losing a pound), but it seems as if a fine balance between them and protein is the way to go.

Summary: After the honeymoon phase....
Review: I found this diet to be monotonous. This is not even the way Rachael Heller lost her weight! *Her* way is described in the book's introduction. It's a very interesting read. Far different from the much stricter diet described in the book.

I got tired of the same vegetables day after day, and I am a former vegetarian! I love vegetables! Upon further review of what constitutes a "carbohydrate addict", it turns out that *anyone* could be a carbohydrate addict. The questions in the test are so simplistic.

I'm not "addicted" to all carbs. I wasn't wanting to eat more and more and more carrots and squash, and legumes, etc. I got caught up in believing that all carbs are bad, and it was hard.
"No, I can't have that stuffed squash right now, I'll have to save it for my reward meal"...

I found it cramped my lifestyle. To quote the Heller's from their Lifespan Program book (the "updated" CAD): "In order for any program to be successful, it must be personalized to fit YOUR needs, YOUR preferences, YOUR lifestyle, and correct the cause of YOUR weight problems". (Emphasis was not supplied, it's a direct quote). Well, the cause was not as extreme as I had thought. I simply cut out the junk, and the manufactured foods. THAT was the cause.

Summary: Not even 1 star, I'd give it -5 if I had the choice
Review: I tried this diet because, like Rachel Heller I have PCOS. The quiz said that I was severely insulin resistant (and an endocrinologist recently confirmed this). I followed this diet and if anything, it made my symptoms worse. I had horrible mood swings and could not concentrate because I had a foggy feeling. My blood sugar was at an all time high when I was on this diet and I did not lose any weight. I noticed an immediate improvement of my symptoms and a return of energy when I went on Weight Watchers and started eating several small meals a day balanced with both carbohydrates and protien and I lost 30 pounds within 6 months. Buyer beware, it didn't work for me.

Summary: Very Disappointing
Review: When I saw the title of this book I thought "This is for me!". I fit the severe CA profile. I was looking for a plan would allow me to stay on for the long term. I read about 1/3 of the book and decided to start while continuing to read it. I have to admit that I never felt hungry after eating the complimentary meals. However, I began to feel dizzy and disoriented about the third day until I got to my reward meal (dinner). So much so that I could not function well. I followed the plan to the letter. I deducted that it must be hypoglycemia.

I am sure with all of the other glowing feedback that it must be working wonderfully for some. Just not for me. By the way...I did eat what I wanted at the reward meal and never gained. However, I never lost either!

Summary: It Works !!!!
Review: A few years ago, I tried this diet and lost 25 pounds...my goal at that time. My husband said that it is the ONLY diet that I have tried that keeps me smiling. I am never hungry. I am very cranky with any other kind of diet as I feel deprived and resentful.
Over the years, the pounds have crept up again (I didn't stay on the diet) so I am on it again and have lost 14 pounds in 13 weeks. I intend to stick with it this time when it's time to maintain. A good thing about losing slowly is that your skin doesn't sag. Good luck to you!

Summary: Very Contradicting Views!!
Review: It seems to me nowadays, anybody can write a bestseller diet book!!

In short, the content of this book is mainly Dr. Atkins Revolution diet (unlimited proteins & fat) and a little bit of The Zone Diet ( where you should eat at each meal 30% Proteins 30% Vegies 30% carbs & 10% Fat). In brief, you can have three meals a day (without any snacks) two "COMPLIMENTARY" meals where you should only have proteins and one "REWARD" meal.

Beside combining Dr. Atkins & The Zone books, the writers added few extra unhelpful advices which are very contradicting. To make you very happy and think "WOW, THIS BOOK CAME TO MY RESCUE" they will mention in more that half of the book how you can have a REWARD meal every day where you can eat anything you desire(which should be the beauty of this diet).

Then in two pages only of the book the writers will say well it is not exactly what you desire it should be a balanced meal in the ratio of 30% proteins, 30% carbs (including dessert), 30% vegies and 10% fat!!

Well my friends and I did this diet for a week, Unfortunately, we gained extra pounds!!

Summary: Eh...it's okay
Review: The whole concept of the "reward meal" is kind of a tease. You anxiously await your reward meal, as visions of pizza and cookies dance in your head. However, after a full day of eating very little, your stomach is going to shrink. I know mine did. So, you race home, light-headed & starving, and begin shoving in the food as fast as you can before your "hour" is up. Only a few bites into your lasagna (or pizza, burgers, etc) you're stuffed. You have to wait 15-20 minutes to digest. But, guess what? The clock is ticking, and you still want to get that precious chocolate cake in.

It's hard to enjoy your reward meal, because you can't take the time to really savor it. Generally, people eat dinner, wait awhile, then have dessert. You need a little time to let the food settle. An hour isn't enough time. Just my 2 cents...

Summary: This book has changed my life!!
Review: This book has changed my life. I have never felt better in my whole life. This is the simplest plan I have ever tried, it's not even like dieting. I have been on the diet for 8 weeks and I have lost 13lbs. This is definitely a life change and something I can do for the rest of my life. I didn't even realize why my previous diets weren't working until I read this book and found out that I am a severe carbohydrate addict. This is definitely the book to read if you have given up on dieting like I had.

Summary: Carbohydrate Addict's Diet
Review: Well, I'm sad to say that this book didn't work for me. I had such high hopes that it would. When I read about this book, I thought, "They're talking about me!" I really believed that I'm a carb addict and I was sure that this book would help me break the carb cycle and to lose those stubborn 10 pounds. Unfortunately, it didn't. I may have lost a pound or two, but nothing significant. I did really well during the day, but by the time I got to my Reward Meal, I had a hard time controlling my portions. I seem to do better if I count calories, because I think very hard before I put ANY food in my mouth. Since I didn't have to count with this plan, I know I ate too much at the Reward Meal. Plus, there's only so much protein that a person can handle! I'm a picky eater, which really limited my choices-it seemed like I was eating the same foods over and over. I stuck with it for one month, then called it quits.
