Rating: Summary: This book has changed my life Review: This book is excellent. Very easy to read and not so much medical terminology. I changed my diet after reading this book, lost 10 pounds and gained lots of engery.
Rating: Summary: A Wonderful And Easy Way to Lose Weight Review: The Carbohydrate Addicts Diet is the best "diet" I have ever been on. I wouldn't even call it a diet but a new way of eating that enables you to end your constant cravings, eat what you want and still lose weight. I would recommend this book to anyone who has tried everything else and still is overweight. It's not too good to be true as I first thought, it's just a wonderful and easy way to lose weight and feel good about yourself again.
Rating: Summary: Great start in the right direction. Review: I was so excited to find a book that addresses the problem I have had my entire life and still continue to battle. However, being a vegetarian I was a little disappointed that the recipes were not as helpful for me.
Rating: Summary: This is the answer! Review: Tried Atkins. It worked but couldn't stick to it. This book is the answer. Have been on it for two weeks and lost 7 pounds. I'm never hungry. I have had no cravings and I don't even think about food. It feels liberating not to constantly be thinking and craving food all the time. It's the first diet I've been on that hasn't been painful. I thought I'd go nuts at my Reward Meal but most of the time I'm not even hungry. I eat about a quarter of what I normally did. I'm sick of diets. I'm fed up with constanly watching and worrying about everything I put in my mouth. This is the answer!
Rating: Summary: Great book, great lifestyle change. Review: I love the diet. It's working for me and my husband. Thanks Drs
Rating: Summary: This book has changed my life Review: I have tried a million diets. This one makes sense and it really works
Rating: Summary: Great for non-dieters Review: I am presently reading the book, and I am impressed with the "diet". It doesn't forbid food intake at all, just re-distrubutes when you eat them. I am impressed that I have no hunger cravings at the present time, and the foods described in the book are delicious and healthful for you. Just be sure to add some cardiovascular exercise, and eat your reward meal with some moderation. I doubt they mean for someone to eat a chocolate cake with 500 calories in it after a 400+ calorie meal. Water during the day also helps. Overall, buy the book.
Rating: Summary: Changes to the Reward Meal! Review: I really like the original CAD program, and have been doing well on it. I did buy the new Lifespan program, and there have been some changes. Personally, I think if you're doing fine on CAD... stick with it. If things slow down, try the 2-cups of salad before your reward meal. With Lifespan, the reward meal has to be balanced... 1/3 protein, 1/3 low-carb veggies, and 1/3 carbs (whatever type you'd like). The hour time-limit still applies. They also talk about possibly limiting sugar substitutes (if you're sensitive), caffeine, taking GTF Chromium, and other things. These are all called "options" and you can add them if you are having difficulty losing weight with the program.
Rating: Summary: I Do Have WILLPOWER!!!! Review: Thank-you Thank-you to the authors!!! Now I understand why I craved and seemingly had no willpower. I now eat 2 low carb meals then have a high carb meal. I have taken their ideas and made them fit to my life. People are starting to notice weight coming off of me. Everyone in my life knows what a battle my extra weight has been, because I was doing everything that I thought possible. One of my favorite things to say to my close friends was "Wanna feel my but?" because it would be rock hard from all the exercise, but I was still VERY large around the middle. What is ironic is the I was practically a vegetarian, staying away from all those "fatty meats". Now I eat cheese, organic meat, and donuts!!!! After all these years I get it now. Less carbs, more protein. I do not obsess anymore about food. I can't believe I only eat 3 times a day!!! One word of advice though----listen to your own body AS well as the smart advice of the authors. You know yourself best. I am finding out what my truths are. For example, when it comes to that wonderful week before my monthly cycle, I really do want extra Carbs, because as soon as my period begins, the cravings are gone!!! So I make it work, if it indeed slows my weight loss down, I DO NOT CARE, because I am not into tormenting myself over food anymore!!!! So I am a happy, healthy gal. I was on the verge of being diagnosed with adult onset diabetes... and I was at the time "eating properly to lose weight for two months".... WoW!!! My blood sugars are normal now. Thank you thank you to the authors. P.S. I gave the book only a four star rating because I do as well feel it to be outdated, and feel that there should be a disclaimer of sorts... Do the authors have plans for an updated version???
Rating: Summary: Amazing explanation & resolution of why I have carb cravings Review: No more carb lunches and ravenous cravings at 3:00PM for me. Too many carbs & too many pounds go hand-in-hand but no longer for me. I am thinner, happier than I have ever been! Best money spent was buying this book. Thanks!
