Summary: Maintain A Healthy Lifestyle
Review: Fad diets are only quick fixes and often weight lost in this manner comes at great risk to the physical and psychological. The keys to losing weight and feeling good is (1) always consult your physician before starting any weight loss/exercise program - they can provide a referral to a dietician/nutrtionist, (2) learning all you can about healthy eating (which includes consumption of foods from all food groups - even carbohydrates), learn what the benefits of the foods found in all food groups are (there are differences in what we call "carbohydrates") the importance of vitamins and minerals, and the importance of psychology by reading all you can. Discern the information wisely, ask your physician questions about anything you don't understand. Daily exercise, 15 to 20 minutes of walking, etc., in combination with healthful eating will work to take off and keep off weight. It is also great for the spirit, a healthy attitude can be a major factor in gaining control over your weight loss. You may not see "quick" results, but the safest way to take off weight is slow and sure - gaining many health benefits along the way as opposed to sacrificing your health to be thin the "quick" way. You will also be less likely to "rebound" and more apt to develop a healthy routine for the rest of your life. Remember, the weight didn't appear overnight, so we shouldn't expect it to disappear that way!

Summary: A CAVEAT
Review: In the previous post, I said I "eat whatever I want" during my allotted carb hour. However, I've NEVER been a junk, fried, frozen, takeout, packaged-food kind of person. By "whatever I want," I mean healthy, home-cooked potatoes, homemade pasta, corn, fruit, etc. A cookie or two for dessert. You can't eat disgusting food, and eat it like a sow, on this plan. The good thing is, you won't want to.

Summary: It works!
Review: This book is no work of literature, but it is THE ANSWER to my weight problems. I never would have believed it before I tried it. I've lost 20 pounds COMFORTABLY, and now consider the plan to be my permanent way of eating.

Summary: It makes sense
Review: This book lays everything out that you should be following. It is less technical than any of the other similar diet books on the market.

I haven't tried the diet yet, but am planning to start this weekend. I have tried other programs and wondered why no matter how closely I followed them that I failed.

I can't wait to see the results from this plan. It sounds so wonderful not to be deprived. How long can you live without the good things in life?

Summary: Great book and diet that works!

Summary: Very Good but somewhat confusing!!
Review: After seeing them on oprah I had to try it. After one week I have lost 2 pounds. I feel great and i'm not moody. But the book I have states soda is ok if it has no carbs/ then I "hear" no diet soda is allowed. Can I have sugar subsitute in my coffe in the morning? Should I read all the books. Help. I have a "Killer" dress to wear to my Mary Kay Siminar next August, this lifestyle change is the way but I want to do it right from the begining.

Summary: Ho, hum
Review: Diet fads run in cycles. Back when I was a teenager, trying to diet myself down to a weight that Nature never intended me to be, calorie counting was king. Then we had low-carb, high-protein diets; then it was liquid protein; then protein got a bad rap and everyone was into carbohydrates; now protein seems to have made a comeback. High-fat foods have come, gone, and returned. Sugar was out, then in again. And meanwhile Americans just keep getting fatter -- doesn't anyone see the connection? This series of books would have sunk without a trace too if Oprah hadn't proclaimed it her latest discovery. I predict that it'll go the way of all her other fad diets, and I hope that she realizes what she's doing to herself before she gives herself a truly serious health problem (being overweight is NOT a serious health problem, in spite of what all the diet-doctor-sponsored "research" would have you believe). This book, and the others in the series, have absolutely NOTHING new to say. Don't waste your money.
