Review: This book has changed my life! A common sense approach to take charge of your life and eating well. Not to mention loosing weight! I have never felt so good in my life. So, far I have lost 8 pounds in less than a month. I don't feel deprived or cheated. It is a marvelous way to get your life back after years and years of trying everything! Try it! It is remarkable!

Summary: If the "Basic Food Group" is so right, why are we all so fat
Review: Evidently we are all eating more and enjoying it less as we watch our ever expanding waistlines. Anything that we read that promises that we can eat all we want and lose the excess pounds seems like a dream come true. We surely get every thing that is in the basic food group plus! Who wouldn't rather have a box of Godiva chocolates then a dish of broccoli? I have the Dr. Atkins paper back version printed in 1972 and the concept is pretty much the same as Heller's except for the meal where you can eat what you want. It works for me and also lowered my cholesterol over thirty points which is still a mystery to me because I am eating all the wrong stuff according to my doctor. I don't know how it works and I don't care just as long as it does work.

Summary: Finally a way to NOT diet!
Review: This is the only food plan that takes the obsession out of eating. I started the diet to prove it wrong, there was no way I could eat a reward meal every day of anything I wanted and as much as I wanted, these people didn't know how I could eat! I have only completed the first week, with a loss of 7 pounds! I have calmed down about food, the cravings are really gone, and I don't get sleepy during the day anymore. You owe it to yourself to try it, you won't believe it. It's a plan you can live with. There is no reason anybody would have to fail on this one. Listen to me people, you can eat!

Summary: It really works!
Review: As a lifetime dieter, this is the easiest to follow, and the most rewarding. I lost 11 pounds in 8 weeks, and have kept it off for 7 months now. Anyone serious enough about their weight,can follow 2 restricted meals, to eat one where they can have anything they want!

Summary: Simple Solution
Review: I started the carbohydrate addict's diet 12 weeks ago. As of my average last Sunday, I have lost 23 pounds. I have never been able to not eat between meals without getting hungry. This diet is amazing. For the first time, I think I can lose weight.

Summary: JUST A QUICK P.S. TO MY JAN 6 MESSAGE
Review: Things are still going very well, meaning 'EASY' on this plan, and a few people are starting to make comments on just the few pounds I have lost. One thing I want to mention, especially to those who are pretty new on this plan is this: Mainly BEWARE of those people who don't WANT to, for some reason or another, see you succeed! The Hellers were right about watching for the 'ENEMY' Mine lives in my house, and is constantly saying to me 'Come on, try this, it's a new recipie and I think you will really like it! A couple of bites isn't going to matter on your stupid diet; don't be so boring, and besides, you're not going to be on this thing forever!' After I got him used to the fact that I WILL eat it, just a little later, that was okay. AND, he is starting to notice my weight graph, and can't figure out why HE can't lose weight, because he's doing the same thing that I am, EXCUSE ME, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT! I HAVE EYES IN THE BACK OF MY HEAD, AND I KNOW THAT'S NOT TRUE! Anyway, hang in there; don't let the enemy win; just wait and see how long it takes for them to really notice the change, or better yet, the expression the face when you say 'I need to go shopping for some new clothes; I'VE LOST TWO SIZES AND AM SWIMMING IN THIS WARDROBE; WHERE IS THE CREDIT CARD? Only then will they admit they are DEFEATED! Good luck, everyone!

Review: The book had good information but it's not designed for people on the go, eating on the run etc. it seems to be designed for people that have time to cook and follow diet plans. I didn't find it very helpful for my lifestyle.

Summary: And it keeps on working...
Review: I read this book nearly seven years ago. Desperate to lose 30 lb. I had gained from quitting smoking seven years earlier, I tried the Hellers' approach. I lost the weight within 6 months and have since been able to keep my weight in the range between my 2 target goal weights. I have also read the Hellers' subsequent books but have been too happy with the less restricted original plan. Occasionally, I'll borrow parts of the later books if my weight starts to rise. I have weighed myself for daily for over 6.5 years and averaged my weight weekly. It is important to see this way of eating (and living) as a plan forvever rather than a temporary diet.

Summary: Unbelievable (again)!
Review: I lost 3-1/2 pounds the first week! I've leveled off a bit now, which I expected, but what great motivation to drop that much so quickly -- and so easily! I can't tell you how painless this is. I'm an inveterate diet cheater -- could always rationalize anything I wanted to put in my mouth. I haven't cheated a single time on this plan. Try it, try it, try it!

Summary: It works, but don't expect quick miracles
Review: I've been on the diet for about a month now and have lost 6 pounds. Some people are raving about 11 pounds in the first week; maybe true, but certainly not healthy. Slow and steady wins the dieting race. This book is very helpful and makes a lot of sense. I used to nap when my kids did once a day; now I have so much energy, I can't fall asleep during the day. This is a great eating plan, and I would certainly recommend it. About every other day or so I'm down a pound, which is exactly what I'm looking for. Hope it works for you.
