Summary: Relief and Hope
Review: I have recommended Dr. Lee's book to everyone I know who is facing HRT. After suffering just about every sickening side-effect of synthetic HRT, I found relief within days with Dr. Lee's regimen. More important, I no longer feel doomed to years of hair loss, weight gain, nausea, depression, etc., which had appeared to be my fate.

Summary: Our doctors don't tell us enough!!!!
Review: I read this book cover to cover in just a few days and found the info invaluable. I think everyone on birth control pills would take pause and reconsider their decision if they were to read this book. The nutrition guidlines are full of truth and common sense. I know how many people are unaware of the toxins that the food industry puts on the shelves and in the coolers of our supermarkets under the disguise of "healthy" foods. I'm truly saddened at how many people think that just because a product has met some government standard that it can't do you any harm, especially when it comes to household products and beauty aids. I'm telling all the gals I know to read this at least once.....

Summary: A wonderful resource for pre-menopause help
Review: I turned 50 recently, and had been bothered for quite a whileby those odd symptoms that aren't "classic" symptoms ofmenopause. I didn't know at first if it was stress, or if there wasreally something physically wrong with me. I wondered if it could be pre-menopause, but wasn't really sure. I didn't have hot flashes, and my moods weren't extreme, though I felt (how do I explain it) "not right". I saw my doctor, who determined I WAS in pre-menopause, and in the course of my evaluation we discussed natural treatments. She suggested reading Dr. Lee's book. I had a follow-up appointment with my doctor and we decided on some of the therapies Dr. Lee suggests in his book. The easiest to supplement were the vitamins.(follow the doctor's dosage instructions) She is starting me on natural progesterone this month. A lot of my symptoms, like digestive upsets, numb hands and the like are diminishing already ! I never had thought too much about looking into natural alternatives for my symptoms. I was somewhat distrustful, and not too well informed. This book was very helpful, it explained in easy to understand terms how hormone balance in the body works, and how it affects all the other body systems, and how to correct your own body's natural balance. I am fortunate to have a great doctor who had read it and was enthusiastic about using the therapies suggested. I've told friends my age about it, and they'll be buying it next! Talk about knowledge being power!Thank God Dr. Lee and others are now getting the information out, we need to make informed decisions on treating our own bodies! Read this book, you'll be glad you did! END

Summary: Not all Patients can tolerate Progesterone cream
Review: I was a patient of Dr. Hanley, and she had me exclusively on Progesterone cream 10% everyday except the last 4 days of the month. I never was tested for Estrogen, FSH, or Progesterone blood levels. I'm in my forties and I started hormones because I had what the doctor's call surgical menopause, I had a tubaligation(Tubes tied). This procedure immediately stopped my periods, and I began to get hot flashes during the day, and I gained more weight, and got more migraines. Dr. Hanley had me use 1 gram of progesterone cream to help with the migraines and hot flashes. This however made my migraines worse and therefore I began getting them more frequently, up to every other day. Dr. Jesse Hanley is a wonderful person and great Family Practioner, but she should leave the hormones to the specialist. I was referred to a world class, awesome Endocrinologist in Santa Barbara. She immediately did blood levels on me, I had absolutely no estrogen in my body. Now, I am getting my hormones balanced on natural hormones, she has me balancing my hormones with Estradiol everyday and then I'm on Progesterone on cycle days 18-28 only. I'm finally beginning to feel better, my memory has gotten much sharper, weight is decreasing, my migraines have almost diminished. This doctor is very sharp. What a wonderful improvement that I feel, plus she has me on this wonderful balanced diet. She wrote a great book, called "The Schwarzbein Principle. Thank God for wonderful doctor's like her!!!

Summary: Me Perimenopausal
Review: I was really looking forward to getting this book, however, the author puts a lot of his findings on Progesterone Cream to cure all your ailments. Although I'm not in the medical field, I do beleive you need to check with your doctor first and get the necessary lab work done, BEFORE you try to self medicate yourself. If Estrodial pills can cause problems, can you imagine what progesterone could do also. Just get your hormones check first.

Summary: Educational For All Women
Review: I was shocked to read the symptoms I've suffered over the past 5 years where all written down in a nice organized manner! I had already started using natural progesterone cream when I began to read this book. The changes are incredible! I have been sleeping like I did when I was 21 years young. I feel so much better in every way and this book has been a tremendous aid to me! I highly recommend it to all women no matter their age.

Summary: Please use with caution, it made me feel much worse...
Review: I would like to caution all readers to PLEASE use natural progesterone ONLY after blood serum tests (not saliva tests) and proper diagnosis by an informed endocrinologist or health professional. This is not a benign product and can really cause problems when used inappropriately. Several months ago I began to have numerous symptoms (horrible brain fog, exhaustion, depression) which were related to a severe drop in estrogen. Homeopathic doctors treated me with progesterone, DHEA, and everything BUT estrogen, even though they knew my estrogen level was really low. The progesterone totally sedated me, and I have since found out that too much progesterone can sedate as powerfully as Valium! The simple fact is, if you are estrogen deficient nothing, and I do mean nothing, will take the place of the estrogen your body needs. Often younger women experience a low level of estrogen many years before menopause. If this turns out to be your problem, progesterone will only make you feel worse. I strongly recommend you read Dr. Elizabeth Vliet's books, "Screaming to be Heard" and "It's Your Ovaries, Stupid". I am on a steady dose birth control pill now (Ovcon 35), and day by day my symptoms are improving. PLEASE consider buying her books. They just might help you as much as they've helped me. Good luck!

Summary: START HERE , but do a lot more research
Review: I'd cautiously recommend this book to other women suffering, as I do, from premenopause. Written for women who take an active role in their own health care, much of this book provides enlightening information, in layperson's language, about our ever changing hormones and the role they play in a woman's health. The author's theories on causes of hormonal imbalances are provocative, and I'm inclinded to believe that toxic chemicals can cause hormonal upsets, but these theories are as yet unproven. If you have a serious health concern, please do more research...read, read, read. There is a tremendous amount of information on line that can be of help. This book does excel in providing important information about the link between diet and a healthy hormonal balance, and I am following a number of the recommendations in this book. Progesterone Cream, recommended by the authors, may not be the cure for every symptom of premenopause. The jury is out on the use of progesterone cream to treat uterine fibroids, a condition that affects between 30-50% of women in their 30s and 40s. My recommendation for this book is to read it thoroughly, but cautiously... and to follow up with more research on line. I wish you good health!

Summary: more educational and informational than my doctor
Review: I'm 38 years old and had a baby three years ago. Since then I have had mood swings, crying bouts, extreme irritability (for me), emotionally sensitive and on day 14, my breasts would painfully hurt. After 3 months of trying the cream, the vitamins and exercise I feel better. What I like about the book is that it gives a wholistic understanding of my body and doesn't just look at one part. I felt validated and understood what was going on with my body. When I first began I didn't know how much cream to use and I noticed one day I was lethargic, a possible side effect that John Lee states in his book. So the next day, I only put it on one time and put less on. I was then fine. I have used it only from day 14 until I get my period. Because it has had a positive effect on me, I am motivated now to find a doctor who is open to this approach and will monitor my saliva/hormone levels because I do believe it is a powerful alternative. A much more powerful alternative than talking to my previous doctor who only suggested anti-depressants which I believe may have more side effects.

Summary: Look No Further
Review: If you're looking for testimonials for women diagnosed with fibroid tumors who used the information provided in this book to treat the fibroids, look no further.
While an ultrasound showed my four fibroids were not unduly large, one had grown through the uterine wall, causing excessive bleeding each month, leading to anemia.
Other symptoms indicated I had excess estrogen, for which this book suggested taking natural progesterone. (Note this is completely different than having low estrogen.)

Nine months after beginning natural progestone treatments, another ultrasound showed all fibroids were gone. Four months into treatment, the anemia was gone and my monthly periods had returned to normal.
I recommend this book to all my friends, not because it offers a single, sure-fire cure for everyone, but because it provides a wealth of hormonal information in one volume. Information that no gynecologist or GP had EVER provided me with. When I was originally diagnosed with fibroids, my doctor told me to have any kids I planned to have, then have a hysterectomy. I didn't know anything about hormones at that time, but I knew there had to be another solution.
This book provides detailed, fact-based information on the human hormonal system.
