Rating: Summary: Taming Your Gremlin ? Richard D. Carson Review: A little book on a big topic, Taming Your Gremlin, by Richard Carson, is a practical guide to overcoming barriers to your success. The gremlin is used as a metaphor for that voice of doubt we so often encounter when facing a new challenge. Carson takes readers through the steps they can follow to pursue their dreams in spite of their fears. His formula of simply noticing, choosing and playing with options, and being in process, is reinforced throughout the book. Carson relates common scenarios encountered through his many years of counseling practice with his patients. The scenarios are oh so familiar! This book is a quick read on a topic that can change how you relate to the fears associated with taking risks. Each chapter builds on the earlier ones. In the end, the reader knows more about themselves and has tools to tame their voice of doubt.

Rating: Summary: Best book ever Review: As a yoga teacher, I must say this book has made an enourmous difference in my life and in the lives of my students. It makes life a walking, breathing, living meditation for those who want to know instead of "knowing about."
Rating: Summary: Scratch my Booty, I loved it! Review: Before I read this book, I had real mental problems. I hvae learned to say screw that little gremlin and go out and get mine. Thanks R.C
Rating: Summary: Clever, trendy, helpful and easy to read Review: By using the term "Gremlin",Carson has borrowed the popular terminology of the personal coaching movement to label our inner-resistances, negative self-talk, and fantasies about "what will people think?" This is a clever and current way of talking about our super-egos -- to use the classic, Freudian label for the critical voices Carson wants us to fight. His approach is a useful way of externalizing the inner critic that hampers us and will be palatable to many who want to avoid self-blame and remain in the realm of positive thinking. Carson's writing is clear, entertaining and easy to read, and the many illustrations are fun. The most helpful aspect of Carson's book is his clever way of talking about mindfulness. The message is simple -- if you focus on the present moment you won't worry about the future or dwell on the past. Mindfulness is a wonderful stress reduction technique, popularized by meditation gurus like Jon Kabat-Zinn. Carson is unique in that he gives mindfulness the twist of a 21rst century coach rather than a '90s new age flavor. I am a licensed clinical psychologist and personal coach and I would recommend this book highly. To my taste, however, it is a bit too "cutesy" to get five stars.

Rating: Summary: Loved the book Review: For those of us who have been waiting for something more from Rick Carson, this feeds the salivary juices quite well! While the original version was wonderful in it's simplicity, this version has so much more content to go deeper by using the workbook style exercises. Yet it still maintains a level of playfulness and humor with the familiar illustrations and bold print that helps keep it from feeling heavy-duty. It reinforces the Zen theory of change and reminds us that it's more valuable to focus our awareness on how we are rather than why we are. Nice job, Rick!

Rating: Summary: I loved this book! Review: I can't imagine someone being disappointed in this book. Wise, practical, funny, and true, it is far and away the best "self-help" book on the market. I personally know coaches, counselors, teachers and business people who rely on it heavily in their work. If you are a human being over the age of ten "Taming Your Gremlin" will help you live life joyfully.
Rating: Summary: GIVE YOUR BRAIN MORE RAM! Review: I can't tell you how many times the brilliant (yet SIMPLE!) concepts in this book have cleared a black cloud from my mind, freeing it up for more POSITIVE things, which, to my surprise, it bounces right back to. The artwork complements the book excellently, giving it 3D clarity. No need to wonder why you can't think straight-- Don't miss this one!
