Review: I have purchased every Riso or Riso/Hudson project, my all time favorite being the revised, orange-covered "Personality Types." The style and content of "Wisdom of the Enneagram" is broader than "Personality Types" and perhaps tries to accomplish too much, with the effect of losing some of the clarity and succinctness of "Personality Types." BUT (!), ANY Riso/Hudson book about the Enneagram is a GOOD one and a MUST HAVE! There are lots of fresh insights and "spins" on Enneagram wisdom in this one. Of all the growing number of Enneagram authors out there, Don Riso has been, is, and will likely remain my favorite. His understanding of the Enneagram - in both theory and application - is rich and deep. Something about his interpretations seem to resonate more harmoniously with "how I see it", too. A definite "must" purchase to round out one's collection of Enneagram literature!

Summary: An excellent crisp book
Review: I read few books on Enneagram before I picked up this one. Reading the Wisdom of the Enneagram was a very valuable experience for me in that it summarized everything I ever read before into crisp definable elements. Finally the pieces of the puzzle fell into place and started making sense of the types and their growth patterns. Very enlightening, very easy read, I highly recommend it.

Review: If you only read one Enneagram book in your life, it ought to be "The Wisdom of the Enneagram". It gives you clear and concise explanations of the system and the types along with tests and exercises to not only figure out your own type, but to learn from it and grow! Every time I read this book I feel that God is speaking directly to me through these words and I am able to let go of some more of my baggage. The message is brought forth with compassion and clarity without ever being condescending. It is an invitation to live a more fulfilling life. Don't say no! Read this book!

Review: Incredible work! This is THE BEST Enneagram book available, combining the psychology of the personalities with the spiritual force at work in all of our lives. This powerful combination allows the reader to move from mere typing of themselves or others to an actual practice of learning to release him or herself from their ego mind. This book is the real stuff, a true gem from gifted spiritual Teachers who come from a place of understanding.

Review: Riso et Hudson, en plus d'expliquer clairement et de manière précise les différentes caractéristiques de chacun des types, amènent des nuances très intéressantes et nous permettent d'étudier et de comprendre les divers niveaux de "santé" relié aux types (i.e. niveaux de développement). Puis, les auteurs ouvrent la porte au développement personnel. En bref, le livre le plus complet qui m'a été donné de lire jusqu'à présent sur l'ennéagramme.

Review: The above quote is not myne, it belongs to a man that became known as Meher Baba, a contemporary spiritual master from India. This man "observed" silence for 44 years, that's right 44 years. And yet he said humbly, "Listen Humanity". The point that I want to make with such a strange quote is that truth of the "self" is not, and will never be, given in books or ANY kind of guide. Even if that is my starting attitude towards those "guides", I decided to give that book a try and read it. My first oppinion was not only confirmed, but even got stronger. So here it is: YOU WILL NOT AWAKEN AS A RESULT OF READING THIS BOOK, PERIOD.
You may, perhaps, get some insights about the necessary requirements of the "Work", but again, they are not coordinated in the book.
One example of the mystake made by the authors. It is not explained the role of planetary influences on the definition of a certain "type", which is the basis of the science of human types taught by Mr Gurdjieff. Although mentioned, the concept of essence and personality makes the reader confused, and I have met many people who became more "ignorant" about themselves by mixing those two very different concepts. Gurdjieff, the father of this "System" enphasised the need for a correct use of the language and the correct understanding of the terminology, which is not observed by those authors.
Today certain key concepts of the Fourth Way are in "life" used by people who became, as Gurdjieff called them, "power possessing beings", i.e., they are not really concerned about the fact that those ideas were given to the world in order to have a different use. They are enjoying the $$$ made through those extreme wiseacrings.
What use is that? Do your research. It is there waiting to be lived by every sincere seeker of higher states.

Review: The answer is yes. I can easily say this book will astound you. This is NOT a cult book. Now that that's out of the way, buy this book, pass it around. I am not exagerrating when I say that this bok will show you things that you never even knew about yourself. This book will at LEAST challenge you. Basically, this is a self-discovery book, and you'd be amazed at how little you know about yourself. Give the Enneagram a shot, and do it with this book. This is by far my favorite Enneagram book and I HIGHLY recommend it for beginners.
