Rating: Summary: Not funny or insightful Review: I was hoping this book would be entertaining and/or insightful, but was very disappointed. The advice and humor is very simplistic. "The Boyfriend Test" by Wendy Walsh is a much more helpful book at men and dating.
Rating: Summary: Take Men Are Like Fish to the "Mars Venus" TV show Review: Men Are Like Fish is a wonderful metaphor. Steve Nakamoto's strategically placed tidbits of wisdom and humor keeps the reader involved. Steve, take your insights to the "Mars Venus" TV show!
Rating: Summary: LOVE, NOT SEX IN THE CITY! Review: I heard this author on a radio interview and decided to give Men Are Like Fish a try. It's definitely a fast read and is loaded with a surprising number of relevant quotations and cartoons. There's a lot of positive attitude, self-esteem, and letting go of the past material along with principles for meeting quality men, carrying on a conversation, creating an attachment, and reeling them in. The metaphor is pretty strong throughout the book althought the "catch & release" part is a bit of a stretch. Most of all I like the new thinking that went into this concept. We've all probably heard all the advice out there on this subject, but this one gets you to think about love differently. I'm usually highly skeptical with these kind of relationship/dating/men books because they are mostly demeaning to women's intelligence, but I'll give my rare okay on this particular book.
Rating: Summary: A Great Metaphor! Interesting Man's Perspective! Review: The salon that I go to had a copy of this book on display so I took a peek and was pleasantly surprised. As a regular reader of Cosmo, I get more than my share of monthly "dating" and "relationship" advice. This book is more of a conversation piece than strictly about advice. At first I wasn't too into the "fishing" metaphor, but as I got through the book I began to see how it all fits together. My friends and I are having a good time playing with this thing. I hope others will see how different this book really is.
Rating: Summary: Breaking the mold for self-help books. Review: Men Are Like Fish is a very refreshing departure from the usual dry, wordy self-help book. Both the content and the layout are designed to entertain as well as to inform. Steve's book is chock full of wit, wisdom, and warmth. He helps us gain a simple perspective on what can seem a comlicated issue. So when's your next book coming out, Steve?
Rating: Summary: Clever Women Catch the Big Ones Review: Love is life's most important value. The "Men Are Like Fish" tells you how to make love really work. It illustrates the essence of finding, attracting, getting, keeping, and enjoying a romance. The book is based on the American proverb "a man chases a woman until she caches him", and tells what every woman needs to know about catching a man. The Steve Nakamoto's "Men Are Like Fish" offers a fresh angle on how women can capture the love of their dreams by understanding the true nature of men. That's not only fun and easy to read, but also packed with helpful pointers, universal truths, and unique insights. Most of the world is covered by water. A fisher(wo)man's job is simple: pick out the best parts.
Rating: Summary: Men Are Like Fish Review: A delightful book written with honest acuity. Steve Nakamoto doesn't take pages to say what can be said in a few lines. Some of his thoughts on relationships may be something you think you already know but he puts it in a way you won't soon forget. This is a book you will want to share with your friends.
Rating: Summary: Review of dating advice for women Review: I enjoyed reading this book. It was entertaining and thoughtful. The male perspective provided insight that is unusual and that I believe is accurate--for example a girlfriend of mine never has a lack of dates due in part to her fun, fresh, excited about life attitude. It's an easy and entertaining read that gives some thought-provoking, practical advice.
Rating: Summary: Enlightening Review: This book provided me with an enormous amount of insight into the psyche of the male gender when it comes to being "caught". I was able to understand the different concepts of the book and how they can potentially improve my own relationship. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in "catching" the real thing.
Rating: Summary: A Fun Perspective on Relationships Review: Steve's book would have shocked me if I hadn't read 'The Rules' a few years back. Many of my relationship mistakes were finally explained. Steve's book adds tremendous credibility--the man's perspective. His book is fun and easy to read and contains many practical ideas to help a woman find true love.
