Summary: A very practical "how-to" guide for women of all ages
Review: Now in an expanded second edition, Men are Like Fish: What Every Woman Needs To Know About Catching A Man is a humorous yet ultimately very, very practical "how-to" guide for women of all ages and backgrounds who embark upon the quest for a male companion. Here detailed from cover to cover is the arcane and ancient art of finding and keeping a personally fulfilling romantic relationship with a good man. Emphasizing the importance of proper self-care, high self-esteem, knowing what one wants and being willing to go for it, Men are Like Fish is a thoroughly readable and uplifting guide, especially for women who feel clueless about what really is going on inside a men head and heart.

Summary: fewer fishy quotations, more practical advice needed
Review: This book is packed with cute little quotes and proverbs, some related to fishing. While this is cute, I was looking for more specific pearls of wisdom. Everyone knows if you start a conversation with a man and fumble it or appear awkward, you probably aren't going to get anywhere with said man. I would like to have seen some more "Do's" and specific good start examples vs. "Don'ts".I found Dr.Nancy Fagan's book "Desirable Men: How to Find Them" much more helpful!

Summary: Bouillabaisse of Condensed Wisdom and Wit
Review: A proactive must read. Straightforward and honest. It helped me recognize the many mistakes I was making spooking away the big Keeper prize. The book's condensed wisdom and wit lures us and catches our attention. On the surface, it is fun with antidotes, cartoons, and quotes. You immerge into depths of self-awareness to learn what to do to become your best so you can net the best catch. Mr. Nakamoto's book is like Bouillabaisse elevating the fish recipe (ideas) into a delightful, insightful feast. Reading the male point of view was particularly helpful. The truths and self-tests have challenged me to streamline my mind, body, and spirit to be more alluring to the elusive prize who seeks me.

Summary: A Waste of Time & Money
Review: I bought, read, and immediately resold this book--a rarity considering my 1500+ volume personal library.

Mr. Nakamoto offers nothing new or interesting in the burgeoning "get-a-guy" book market. Most of the book is taken up with supposedly inspirational quotes and Mr. Nakamoto's uninspirational interpretations of those quotes, as if his reader was too stupid to make connections for herself. Too, he explains his ridiculously simple metaphor repeatedly, again demonstrating a lack of respect for the intelligence of his readership.

Summary: Don't be "too smart" or "too tall"...
Review: lest you intimidate and therefore "spook" your "fish"! This book alernates between glaringly obvious advice - don't wear too much perfume, don't start talking about marriage on the first date - and downright insulting "advice": Don't be too much of a "character", don't be too smart, don't have successful exes, because your date's fwagile wittle ego just *can't take it*! All men are really scared little boys, right? Please. I'm not running a daycare center here. ...

Summary: Essential reading for singles
Review: ...I've seen many practical yet superficial love and romance self-help books that avoid the real issues. So I was leery of yet another book to help women understand men, but Men Are Like Fish took me by surprise. It's clear Steve Nakamoto has put tremendous thought and care into developing this into a fun and information packed book that even men would benefit from. Too many people blow new dating situations because they say or do the wrong thing, talk too much or too little, or because they don't listen. Steve gives lots of great yet easy to overlook advice to help make you shine and improve your chances of getting past the nervous dating stage and moving into the happily committed relationship stage. I especially like Steve's no holds barred writing style as was evident in the Internet Dating Strategies and How Women Spook Away Men sections. The advice in these sections alone is worth far more than the ...cover price.

Summary: If you liked "Chicken Soup For the Soul"...
Review: ....you'll like "Men Are Like Fish." Like Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen, Steve Nakamoto is a motivational speaker. "Men Are Like Fish" has an inspiring quotation on almost every page. This book will give you a positive attitude, as well as practical advice about how to meet and marry the right mate.

Summary: More women should learn how to fish
Review: I heard this guy on a radio talk show and at first thought it was gonna be just another vehicle for women to complain about the shortcomings of men. But as I listened, I found I was intrigued by Steve Nakamoto's use of a fishing metaphor in describing relationships. I decided to buy his book and was pleasantly surprised by his humor and insight in describing the dating ritual; i.e., the man does the chasing and the woman does the catching. Like fish, men are basically simple creatures. With the right bait & the right hook any woman can reel in the big one. The Bottom Line: I wish more women would take Steve Nakamoto's advice and utilize the fishing approach to dating.

Summary: Great read on Love...Most important thing in life!
Review: Steve Nakamoto has written an outstanding book on love, in relation to fishing - two of my favorite subjects!
Great insight into how to find love with fun quotes sprinkled in-between. This is great guide book to love...use it wisely!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Cute Take on an old subject
Review: This book is very easy to read, very entertaining and even helpful. As Steve Nakamoto states in his text, he is not telling us anything new, but his simple metaphor really drives home what you already knew, and gives you lots of ideas to follow through on. If you are after some quick answers, or a little rusty on attracting men, you will find it a worthwhile read. If you are willing to think a little about how you might apply the metaphor and willing to read some other materials, and do some work on yourself and your approach to men, you will get a lot out of this book.
