Summary: It Works!
Review: Since I was a young girl, I have struggled with my weight. I had tried EVERYTHING, from working out like a maniac to trying fad diets like the popular Atkin's Diet. But none worked and the Atkin's diet actually made me sick. Then I found this wonderful book which explained why I was gaining weight, why I craved carbs, and what to do about it. I followed the plan fairly closely, but adapted it to my own lifestyle. After the first week I lost 5 pounds and after 3 1/2 months I had lost 30 lbs! Try it! It's much more healthy than the Atkin's diet and far less restrictive.... and it works!

Summary: Makes very good sense!
Review: Some nutritionists come down on this diet saying that it is just another low calorie one or that one does have to change the types of food they eat. Well....Duhhhh!!!! It probably does have fewer calories but studies are saying we should have fewer and with this diet one doesn't crave more calories. It does maybe mean changing to slightly different foods but it sounds like the ones one is eating now aren't working if this diet helps. As for me, I'm losing fat, gaining muscle, feeling better and more alert, and sleeping better. It must be doing something right.

Summary: This book is a nutritional Bible!!
Review: The 40-30-30 plan is really not a diet; it's more like a way of life and eating. It simply makes sense. And what is even more great is that you actually EAT!! No more skipping meals, no more starving yourself. Combine this plan with exercise and I guarantee you will lose weight. Believe me, I'm a registered nurse who needed to drop 20-25 pounds. In 6-8 weeks I accomplished what I thought would take me 6-8 months. Don't keep putting it off--Just DO it!

Summary: Never DIET again!!! Enjoy food and lose weight
Review: The 40-30-30 way of eating has proved to be the most effective way to not only lose weight, but also maintain your weight. This book includes easy recipes and can be made with food you have. No going to the Gourmet Store and spending a bunch of money. The recipes also taste great!!! I lost 25 pounds and went from a size 8 to a size 2 following the guidline the Doust's talk about. I even gave many friends a copy and watched them become healtier and more fit!!!!! This book is a must have for anybody who wants to change their eating habits to an easy, great tasting, way of life!!!

Summary: Open your mind Sarah
Review: The concerned dietetics student might just consider that this book represents the state of the art, and think about what this diet accomplishes. This notion of hers that the body NEEDS 55% of its calories from carbs is just silly. Come on now, Sarah, open your mind and question some of what you are learning. THAT is the point of liberal education!

Summary: Easy plan for implementing a Zone diet
Review: This book is a quick read for those who wish to implement Barry Sears' Zone dietary guidelines. Although the Daousts' book does not contain the technical detail that Sears' book contains, it does give an overview for those who just want to 'cut to the chase'. Daost provides some meal plans and tables for planning further meals, to get you started on a Zone diet. Overall, I think the Sears books ZONE PERFECT MEALS IN MINUTES and ZONE BLOCKS are more complete for long-term use. Daost provides a table for calculating dietary requirements that classifies the reader into a dietary group; meals are then based on this grouping. Sears methodology is more precise, utilizing actual lean body mass calculations. Overall, a handy, quick read to get you started on the Zone plan.

Summary: Excellent summary of "The Zone"
Review: This book is an excellent summary of Dr. Barry Sears' revolutionary diet plan, The Zone. The authors were key members of the original clinical nutrition team that developed the 40-30-30 diet and developed the nutrition programs for 3 start-up companies that make 40-30-30 nutrition bars. The book makes a wonderful gift to anyone you know who is wanting to learn about The Zone. The scientific explanations are easy to understand with visual charts. The book also includes 1 week quick start menu plans for regular meals, fat burning, and even for vegetarians. It also includes food lists for the correct servings for staying in "The Zone". This book is a must for anyone who wants to achieve peak physical health & performance. For more detailed reading, you may want to get The Zone by Dr. Barry Sears and Mastering the Zone by Dr. Sears. (of those two, I like Mastering the Zone the best)

Summary: Most wonderful for-life eating plan I've tried!
Review: This book is really easy to read if you've had trouble with the gram counting part of the zone! I have lost 10 lbs and 9 inches in 4 weeks and I have never felt better! I really feel that I will meet my goal of 10 more lbs. because I do not have cravings between meals or otherwise.

Thank you for this easy to read and understand book. I love the recipes and the tables that tell you how much to eat for your body type.
