Summary: Easier to understand than The Zone
Review: 40-30-30 takes The Zone approach and makes it understandable. It gives you all the information you need to know without all of Barry Sears' gobbledygook. Procedurally, this is much easier to follow. It does, however, fall a little short on recipes.

Summary: Clear, concise, easy to understand and to use
Review: After 35 years of struggling with not only losing but maintaining a weight loss, this book has set me free!! Free from diet pills and stimulants, free from feeling tired and just plain lousy!

My body is now partnering with my efforts to stay trim, healthy, and vital. I have more energy, sleep better, think more sharply and am trimmer than ever.....no more loose flesh. I am told that I look as good and as young as my 21 yr. old daughter!!

This book gives you the freedom to work with foods you like, and there's no special foods to buy, except maybe the balance bars. However, these are so wonderful and help to simplify an afternoon snack away from home. On this food plan, I can honestly say that I am never hungry. It actually gives you permission to eat....food!!

My diabetic daughter is able to follow this plan as well with a positive effect on her blood sugar control. I would recommend this plan to absolutely everyone!!

Summary: hype the book make money
Review: Although the book has some good tips I had trouble getting started and once I did well lets put it this way i did not stick with it for long. The only reason I am keeping the book is because it list alot of foods and how much protein, carb, fat information is in them. They hype the book up and I fell in hook line and sinker. I guess that old saying applies right about know " If it sounds to good to be true Etc...." 40 carb 30 protien 30 fat dont cut it. But I did figure out how to loose weight and keep it off; Its simple I got off my lazy butt started to excersise ate better and walla 10lbs lighter and working for more AND HERES THE CATCH ITS FREE walking 30min and common sense tells you wich foods in your fridge are good and bad for you.

Summary: Changed the way I eat!
Review: As a trainer, aerobics instructor and 5/dy/wk worker outer, I too just came across this book. What made me buy it was the fact that the authors said this diet can increase your performance...well, I have only lost about 3lbs in 2wks, however it is easy to follow, and I find I can work out harder than usual. I know I am following the right eating plan, but I am hungry sometimes, which I dont like. The diet should be amended for those who exercise frequently or the athlete because sometimes you do feel like you are starving. But for those of you looking to make a change, this plan is easy and the meals are great!

Summary: lifesaver
Review: Authors- Last March my brother George sent me the greatest birthday present possible--your book. I began the "fat flusher's programe March 17,1998, less than six months later, Sept. 1,1998 these were my results: (a) fifty pound weight loss, 260 to 210. (b) loss of eight inches-waist, size 46 to 38. (c) cholestrol drop from 210 to 140--my doctor took me off medication in August. (d) blood pressure drop from 180/100 to 137/75 my doctor plans to take me off medication soon. I will be 70 years old this April 4th, these are my activities: (a) I walk two miles at a brisk pace every day or do forty minutes on the treadmill at 3.5 miles/hour. (b) I do ten minutes of exercise everyday with light hand weights. (c) I play golf at less four times a week, when I play nine holes I walk. I have maintained my weight at 210 the last three months but plan to lose another twenty pounds in the next six months. My doctor who indicated to me that when they taught nutrition at med school he napped now recommends your book to his patients. His wife also has him on the plan. In conclusion thank you for your effort in writing the book and to my brother, who has achieved the same results for sending it to me, what a wonderful birthday present.

Sincerely, Nick Trakas

Summary: Easy to follow plan in place of the Zone diet books
Review: Excellent book, well balanced with nutitrional background and sample meals. The authors have narrowed their diet to the core of the Zone diet, maximizing the cellular metabolism for a healthy life, free from the yo-yo diet affects of other diets. Could use more sample meals.

Summary: Starvation plan
Review: I am a major fitness buff who is close to competing in fitness competitions. I just needed a little help with the diet so I looked for a book. This book has the right idea in balancing out the food groups but they sarve you to death. I am 5'4 and 120 lbs (all muscle). They had me eating 1,069 calories a day. I can eat however I want and lose weight on that amount. A person has a basic set of calorie needs just to live. You add on top of that your caloric needs for your activity level. Then you either exercise alot or cut back no more than 200 calories a day. This book is a joke. I suggest that you research this and go with the PR Bar company. Its a 40-30-30 plan also but they detail it to your weight, height and activity level. It comes with a cookbook and they are there for 24 hour support if you need them. Talk to Rob he is my support person and also a personal trainer. If you are going to do it do it right! Good luck.

Summary: IT WORKS!
Review: I am overwhelmed with the immediate response my body has had to 40-30-30 eating. The 40-30-30 information could be our national treasure - why isn't it touted more? This, combined with exercise, has brought me back to where I should be. Plus, the preparing and cooking are far easier and less expensive than the way we used to eat. I'm hoping the Daoust's have more meal plans for us in the future.

Summary: This book worked for me twice!
Review: I bought this book in December 1998, at the recommendation of the womens gym where I had been exercising. I followed the "Fat Flush" sample meal planner and lost 16 pounds. Now it's April 2004, I am 5 months post pardum, and have lost 10 pounds in 5 weeks, using the same meal plan. I've lost the carbohydrate cravings and truely feel great! The sample meal planners are satisfying examples. Chapter 8 "Putting it all together" provides all the tools you need to creat your own 40-30-30 meals in the portions right for your weight and activity level. Chapter 4 "The Glycemic Index" is an excellent resource for good-better-best carbohydrate choices.
