Summary: Health found after years of getting the runaround by MD's
Review: This book contains a lot of very useful information concerning eating a well balanced diet in combinations that are readily assimilated by the body. I enjoyed reading this book because it is light and humorous and yet contains a lot of very useful information. I immediately followed the recommendations suggested by R, Diamond in his book and was amazed at the changes my body went through after only a short time of following its guidelines.

Summary: Excellent hands-on info on how to be fit for life!!
Review: This book provides you with a hands on approach to changing the way you live. From exercise to food, these authors have the perfect combination. The book also offer knowledge on the way food works with your body. A true wake up call!!

Summary: I really value this book.
Review: This is a wonderful book. It explains, in a clear and intelligent way, how and why one's body functions as a result of the food one eats and how to use that knowledge to the best advantage. My biggest reaction to the book was "Of course!! This makes perfect sense!" I recommend it every chance I can and the reaction is the same. I didn't follow it to lose weight but I have; I have more energy and I'm never hungry. I still enjoy and look forward to meals and there are plenty to choose from the great recipes that make up half of the book. I know this sounds like a ridiculous info-mercial but it's truely the way I feel. I hope you give it a shot.

Summary: Just the way you feel makes it worth it!
Review: I tried this diet after going the low fat route and ending up stuffing myself with low fat carbs. The result was an overall gain in weight of fifteen pounds. I started this diet just three weeks ago and I no longer crave carbohydrates and I feel just great - clear head, calm and am sleeping literally like a baby - just these benefits alone are worth it, here in my mid life. Digestion is much quicker and I am never bloated. The added bonus is that I have already lost 7 pounds and I'm never hungry! - amazing. I'll definitely continue to incorporate the prinicples as much as I can to continue to reap the benefits! P.S. It's so easy to follow and no measuring.

Summary: In The Middle
Review: I really appreciate the "natural hygiene" half of this book. Trying it even briefly demonstrates that it's pretty much on the mark.

The food-combining half, though, was another issue for me. I will not knock that many people have benefited from this. However, I think that everyone has different food requirements, stemming from, among other things, body type.

I find from personal experience that a "Zone" (a la Barry Sears) approach leads to better health. The Zone approach is the opposite of the food combining approach. I heard Sears on the radio, and he said that the stomach is essentially a huge acid pit that dissolves everything, and that the acid or base quality of food really doesn't register.

I say to try this book out and see if it works for you, but don't be surprised if you don't have the same results that others have.

Summary: Read this in 1986!!!! Changed my life........
Review: Read this13 years ago when I was 22 and my life changed forever. First time out with the program lost 30 lbs. Had a baby in 1988 and put on 65 lbs. Took it all off with this program. Had some life traumas and slipped back into my wicked ways for some number of years. But I NEVER ever, ever ate any kind of meat again (not chicken or fish either). I became a true-blue vegetarian, gave up smoking forever - and when I started to get out of control always came running back to the Diamond's for nurtuing and self-love. I am now back and faithful. I really want more info though, it's 1999 they must have a web-site, right??

Summary: A COMMONE SENSE APPROACH TO LIFE
Review: I bought this book 10 months back. Although it made great sense, I did not do anything until my weight and size of the waiste started bothering me. Although I am a vegetarian and do workout for 1 hour, 5 days a week, inches from my waste and pounds from my body were not coming down.

Then on August 31, 1999 I decided to start the program mentioned in the book. Today is the thirteenth day, and I have lost ten pounds, and one inch from my waiste. I have never felt more energetic.

It works, BIG TIME!!! Thanks Diamonds!

Summary: The ONLY Natural, Fool-Proof Way To Eat!
Review: This is the best way, and the natural way God intended for us to eat and thereby remain perfectly healthy. I LOVE it!

Summary: amendment
Review: I sent in a review yesterday, and now I feel like a wretched sinner. In the final sentence I called the author a rather inflammatory term, and one really ought not do such things. Please delete this entire final sentence with this offending word from my review of yesterday. Thank you.

Summary: Some practical value but with bogus science.
Review: These Diamonds may have a few good notions, which they must have stumbled over by luck. They certainly are not qualified to judge anything with any sort of scientific judgement. As a result, they should not be trusted. Perhaps the most egregious example is Mr. Diamond's definition of an enzyme: he says an enzyme is the essence of an atom or molecule in a living system, that is has no substance. Any high school biology student knows enzymes are large proteins that catalyze reactions, they are well known and frequently synthesized. Do you really want to take advice from some kook who thinks enzymes are the ghosts of atoms and molecules?
