Summary: Essential to the understanding of the 5 Tibetans
Review: If you are a fan of yoga, and have never heard of the Five Tibetans (or even if you have, and aren't quite sure what they are) this book is for you. The author's language is simple, yet eloquent. The reader gets a basic knowledge of the chakras, Kundalini meditation, deep relaxation techniques and basic pranayama ("breathing exercises"). The actual Five Tibetans (yoga-inspired exercises) are well depicted in black and white photos (except for the first Tibetan, in which you spin clock-wise 21 times).

The author claims that these exercises can be done in about 5-6 minutes. It takes me a little longer than that to complete 21 repetitions of each movement, but the effects are wonderful. I find them invigorating, and have started to use them at the beginning of my daily yoga practice.
One word of caution: if you get dizzy easily, cut the first Tibetan short. There are still days that all 21 reps are not possible for me to complete. In short, this book is an interesting, easy read and a handy resource.

Summary: Are you 30 and feel like you're 60? 40 and feel 80?
Review: In the proverbial small package (84 easily read pages) Mr. Kilham has provided his readers with a very good thing - a complete yogic system which, though taking just minutes a day, has the potential to rejuvenate mind and body. Five simple exercises, two breathings, and three meditations are all it takes to find long-lost health, vigor, and clarity of mind. Don't totter around reminiscing about the good old days - try the Five Tibetans and gain control over your health and body.

Summary: Amazing exercise program
Review: Just an update to a previous review. Nature's Gala. I have been doing the 5 rites every day for the past 4 months. Outstanding results. No more back problems. No more shoulder problems. More energy. I even seem to not need as much sleep and yet feel more alive. improved stamina. Have trimmed some from my waist. Only once a day and it takes about 15 minutes. You must try it to belive it. I stopped going to the gym and actually feel better. ( age 48 ).

Summary: My Seven Chakras Thank You!
Review: Long ago I discarded weightlifting and running to become a full-time couch potato. The reason: I very quickly become bored with the repetition of exercise--any exercise. I'd rather watch Fox News girls than sweat through curls anyway, so my motivation to resume physical activity was zilch.

Then, via the magic of the Internet, I heard about THE FIVE TIBETANS, and I bought this slim and trim volume. This was my cup of yogic tea: five exercises--none of them too vigorous--twenty-one reps. And I can easily find ten to twelve minutes a day to perform them. I now enthusiastically look forward to the Tibetans each evening; having utilized them, I now enjoy more energy, sleep better, am more limber. . .stronger. No, the Tibetans are not the regimen for those wanting to look like Olympian gods, but then again, I'm not going to compete in any triathlon; the pace and intensity of these exercises suits me fine.

Christopher S. Kilham has put together a very informative booklet--one that can be turned to time and again for future reference. His breathing techniques are excellent, by the way. I'm less than enthusiastic about his discussions of kundalini meditation and yoganidra (deep relaxation), but that's just me. I'll just stick to the Tibetans. Finally, I'd like to thank fellow reviewer doctor_beth for bringing to my attention THE FIVE TIBETANS. Muchas gracias, amigo!

Summary: Wonderful exercises
Review: The book is a quick read with easy to understand steps and photos. Though the book is laced with metaphysics (good for some, taxing for others) it is the only book dealing with a form of yoga that didn't take several reads to understand the exercises in depth. The Meditations I looked at and tried but found my own more pleasing. The Authors relaxed attitude towards cultivating kundalani is a bit frightening but does emphasize the impotance of preparing the channels.

Summary: We will see...
Review: The book is short and sweet and easy reading - but I think that one must be interested in the topic or be hungry for what it promises. The four brief background chapters before the descriptions of the exercises are helpful in placing the rites in perspective. The descriptions and pictures of the exercises are precise and will allow anyone to begin the practice. The information on Hindu meditation is interesting, but not nearly as engaging as the preceding chapters. I have begun practicing the rites every morning - we'll see if they are as powerful as Mr.Kilham claims.

Summary: The Five Tibetans are an ESSENTIAL yoga practice.
Review: The Five Tibetans enhance the flow of kundalini, the primary enlivening force of the body and mind.Kundalini is the direct link to the creative wellspring of all existence, and is the force of enlightenment. Practice of The Five Tibetans promotes health, and just plain makes you feel good. Having diligently worked with The Five Tibetans daily for almost twenty years, I can say unequivocally that they are a boon to humanity, and offer benefits far exceeding the time and energy required to perform them. I encourage you to practice The Five Tibetans, and I wish you great success and happiness. Bless you all.

Summary: Excellent book, very succinct and practical.
Review: This book is an excellent introduction to meditation as well as providing a series of exercises that are extremely stimulating for the body. I have felt a lot 'fitter' and stronger since starting these exercises. However I would appreciate someones comments; I have found that I am unable to do number 3 as it hurts my knees. Is anyone else finding troubles and where can you get further help?
