Rating: Summary: Very helpful Review: I have read this book and find it very helpful. With tests, interviews, and even with difficult conversations with my spouse. The mental practice that he teaches works. As you get used to the mental practice that the author speaks of, you get more confident and better prepared, with whatever you are doing.I especially like what he says about negative reinforcing. I believe that we all talk to ourselves worse then we would ever let anyone talk to us.
Rating: Summary: The best Mental System program I have come across. Review: I met a gentleman from Korea who was personally taught by Lanny Bassham. Eun-chul Lee won an Olympic gold medal in the 92 games. After his advice I read the book and applied the techniques. I must admit for me it took some time for the results but the wait was well worth it. The mental management system helped me accomplish a National title. This is a book you need to read more than once. Take the advice from Mr. Lee who has won. Use the system.
Rating: Summary: This technique works! Review: I read this book years ago when I was a competitive rifle shooter, and my scores went up quite a bit after reading this book and practicing Lanny's techniques. To this day, I still practice his techniques regarding negative reinforcement. This is a great book no matter what sport you participate in.
Rating: Summary: Helped me Win 2 World Titles Review: I recieved this book, from a friend, as I was reaching the top of my shooting career. It IS the very best mental managment system there is. It helps me when there seems there is nothing else to improve on. With Mr. Bassham's ideas I earned 2, back to back world skeet titles and have reached the consistance in my shooting that I have always wanted. I recomend this to anyone who seriously participates in any sport, not only shooting. 2001 and 2002 Ladies Junior World Skeet Champion
Rating: Summary: Well worth your time & money, if you are a competitor Review: If you are not a competitive shooter, or a competitive person, don't buy the book. However, if you are a competitive person, and especially if you're a comptetive shooter, then order now!! I've been a competitive shooter for 30 years off and on, and this book really opened my eyes. I have learned things that I should hae seen before but didn't. Now I understand some of the reasons why pistol shooters like Robbie Leatham, Brian Enos, and Doug Koenig (all of whom I've shot with) are consistent winners. They utilized at least some of the aspects of the author's book. Gosh, it was right in fornt of me and I didn't see it until now!! I would bet that this book will make any average shooter improve his scores dramatically if you follow just half of the system presented by Bassham. If you do all of what he suggests, you WILL get better scores. Any wannabe champion shooter must have this book on their shelf... it is to the mental aspects of shooting what Yur Yev's classic book is to the physical aspecst of shooting. My only complaint is that Bassham could have gone a little deeper into the mental preparation techniques and shown some illustrations of his schedules, plans, diaries, etc.
