Summary: Cure by Diet
Review: Not only is the information and advice logical, it actually works. The cravings that used to 'control' me are barely nodding acquaintances now. I found that the thorough study-- from moving back and forth through the book-- actually encouraged me to consider more thoughtfully (a) what my issues might be and (b) what type commitment I was willing to make to trying the ideas. Ingesting supplements of any sort SHOULD be undertaken after due diligence and consideration.I don't practice enough discipline to pack up the 'later day' vitamins and aminos to take at work. But regularly taking the suggested types (appropriate to how I tested) each morning has still created a very positive effect for me. It is obvious that Dr. Ross's theories are valid and useful. I, for one, truly appreciate her fresh and ACCURATE information. Thank you, ma'am.This book is an excellent addition to my handiest bookshelf, or will be if I ever decide to let it move from the nightstand or from next to the computer where I order my vitamins online!

Summary: Wonderful book packed with helpful information!
Review: I love this book! It is not your usual "diet" tome. For most folks, trying to eat healthy can be tough. Cravings are hard to overcome. In this book Julia Ross describes how to use supplements to help control your cravings. As you read through the book, you identify your problems ie blood sugar imbalances, sluggish thyroid etc. and then follow the supplementation she suggests to rectify the problem. There is alot of information here that I have not found anywhere else. However it is not an easy read. It takes a lot of time and effort to plan your program, especially since she "jumps" around alot in the text. I also feel she could have been more specific about a few issues regarding the amino acids. For example if you have more than one problem is it safe to combine all the amino acids listed and at what doseage? The back section with information on what to eat for health could have been beefed up more also. Still I gave this book 5 stars because the information in it has been so useful!!

Summary: Impressive book, impressive results, awful title!
Review: Julia Ross isn't kidding about "now." On the 2nd day after starting on the program that seemed right for me (counteracting bad brain chemistry), I got out of bed with no problem. By day 3, I was able to focus on work more than 5 minutes and had more energy than I've had in years. Two cautions, however: (1) the book is extremely well-written, but the subject is complex and takes time to absorb, and (2) swallowing that many dietary supplements throughout the day takes a real commitment. And contrary to a previous reviewer, I found her approach to vegetarians (of which I am one) very helpful and supportive.

Summary: My cravings for candy and pasta are over!
Review: I have always been a big carbohydrate eater. I could eat pasta all day. I have been taking the amino acid supplemements for a week now, and I really don't want to eat carbs! It takes a day or two to get used to all of the pills, but stick with it because it really works. I am even losing weight, an added bonus.

Summary: Great information... confusing book.
Review: I found this book to be confusing yet educational. Figuring out your supplementation needs and schedule is next to impossible and even if you can figure them out you'd be taking dozens of supplements a day! I'd only recommend this book to people with some prior nutritional counseling.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: I'm excited to get started, but....
Review: the book is confusing. I tested out having seven of the eight problems listed. One of my problems having to do with the thyroid, I have a lump in my throat and have trouble swallowing pills. With all of the supplements that I will need to take, combined with this problem I'm not sure how I'm going to do it. I wish there was a list for people with my exact profile of what to take and when, instead of trying to combine all of those lists! There has to be an easier way to make the book less confusing.

Summary: I can sit in front of my old favorite foods and not want any
Review: The chocolate cravings are gone! The ice cream cravings are gone! refined carbs are not a part of my life anymore and I don't miss them. 6 weeks on the Diet Cure and I am down at least a size in clothing and I feel better than I ever have (EVER). Thank you Julia Ross.

Summary: Lots of great info here, but...
Review: I am currently reading this book, and having read just about every diet or nutrition book ever written, I find this to be sensible and do-able. I haven't started the amino acid supplements, but intend to as soon as I finish reading the book. There is just one problem...there is too much "skipping around" between the chapters. I find that to be very distracting. I will probably read the book again, and take many notes, so I don't miss anything interesting. I can't wait to try it!!!

Summary: Hooray for Julia!
Review: I want to shout from the rooftops how thrilled I am about this book! I have been saying for years that fat was not the culprit, sugar was. But, try as I might, I could not give it up. I knew I was addicted. After years of binging, I tried what the book outlines and within 24 hours the cravings were gone.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: My sugar cravings stopped immediately.
Review: In spite of her (I believe) uninformed prejudice against vegetarian diets, this book has a lot of useful information. Every doctor I've seen over the past 12 years I have been a vegetarian (and there have been very few) has accused me of having low iron, but my blood-work always checks out like a teenager's! Also, I breezed through menopause with nary a hot flash or mood swing. However, my vegetarian diet did not protect me from years of dieting before I became a vegetarian, and my uncontrollable carbohydrate (particularly sugar) cravings. This book helped me within 24 hours like it said. The author is a product of her own experiences, and I don't think we need protein in meat or animal products -- not ever. I've gotten the protein she recommends from beans, tofu, etc. I feel great, so I have adopted much of what she recommends. But no one has perfect information, so I recommend Fit for Life by Harvey and Marilyn Diamond as supplemental information.
