Summary: This book saved my twins and my sanity!
Review: My girls were born at 31 weeks -- we got even THAT far because of Dr. Luke and Tamara's book. I read this one from cover to cover several times. It was the only book I was able to find that really explained in detail the difference between a multiple pregnancy and a singleton. I've experienced pregnancy and birth five times, but my twin pregnancy was completely different in almost every way. It was because of Dr. Luke's advice that I put myself into a Perinatologist group's care, and because of their proactive care when I began to show signs of preterm labor, my twins arrived at 31 weeks instead of 26 or 28, as they were threatening to do. Because of this book's eating plan, my girls also arrived at excellent weights for their gestation age -- 3 1/2 lbs and 4 lbs. While I was hospitalized prior to their births, the information this book provided prepared me to handle the interventions that were necessary; gave me enough knowledge to ask the right questions on my specific condition; and helped me to accept without shock and fear the special needs of my newborns in the NICU. We've been very blessed -- our girls are doing fine and are coming home after less than 3 weeks in the hospital. If it wasn't for all the information in Dr. Luke and Tamara's book, I would have been a basket-case! Instead, I understood what was going on at all times, and the need for certain procedures both for me and the girls. I honestly believe that my twins are here strong and healthy because of the information this book provided. It is a must-read for all parents expecting multiples.

Summary: I gave it credit for my healthy triplets
Review: My triplets are now 2 (so I have time to write this). I followed this book's instructions closely from almost the day I found out I was having 3 (at ten weeks). It was alarming on the first read, but throughout the weeks of bed rest I found it to be a great stress reliever. I suspect it's warnings are especially applicable for women over 35.

Summary: Perfect! An amazing resource.
Review: Quads : A Complete Resource. 1. How do you rate this book? 5 stars 2. Please enter a title for your review: Perfect. An Important resource! 3. Type your review in the space below: (maximum of 1,000 words) When I found out I was pregnant with twins, I looked to pregnancy books to help, but they approached twins as "a little extra pregnant". It wasn't until this book that I started REALLY knowing how to care for myself and my 2 babies. It saved my pregnancy and my sanity. A MUST! For example, the worshipped "What to expect when you're expecting" books gave me absolute INCORRECT information regarding exercise, diet, weight gain, working... and I spent the first part of my pregnancy miserable that I was losing weight and feeling awful. Something in my gut told me that 10 pounds in the first half of the pregnancy wasn't enough for twins. Also, the diet they wanted me to follow was making me throw up every day. My body, again, told me to just eat whatever I could keep down, but "THE BOOK" made me feel guilty about even LOOKING at a cheeseburger. Well, again, THANK GOD I found Dr. Luke and Tamara's book. It confirmed everything I'd already felt was right. Plus, it is written with a great positive attitude with so much encouragement. I would not be having such a healthy pregnancy without it. I will never stop being grateful for this book! I've told so many people about it and am happy to spread the word. READ IT READ IT READ IT!

Summary: The most helpful guide for multiple pregnancy available!
Review: The day you are told you are carrying twins or triplets is a day you will never forget. Beyond the joy and excitement of your pregnancy, you are searching for information everywhere on how take care of your babies to give them the best start in life.

I believe that following the advice in this book regarding nutrition, weight gain, resting, etc. enabled me to carry my twins 40 weeks and give birth to a 7 pound, 7 oz. little boy and 7 pound, 1 oz. little girl-- almost 15 pounds of baby! If you are pregnant with multiples I can't urge you strongly enough to buy this book and follow its recommendations for a healthy pregnancy. A pregnancy book based on singleton pregnancies will NOT give you the information you need to carry your multiples to term with high birth weights. This book will give me the knowledge and information I did not get anywhere else, including the doctor's office! My husband and I could not be more thrilled with our two beautiful babies!

Summary: Thank you, Dr. Luke!
Review: The other reviewers are dead-on...this book was far and away The Most Helpful and Useful book during my twin pregnancy. Absolutely. The other books scared me, this one inspired me.

I credit Dr. Luke's guidelines in large part to my twins' high birth weights: 6 lbs. 3 oz., and 7 lbs. 9 oz., delivered at 37w5d. Every single one of the 65 lbs. I gained during the pregnancy was worth it when the twins spent zero time in the NICU and were discharged from the hospital the same day I was. Doctors we didn't know were coming to see them in the hospital, saying they heard about "the big twins" that were born.

Summary: RE: This Book Freaked Out My Wife
Review: This is a follow-up to my review of January 2004:

Contrary to the advice in this book, my wife finally decided she didn't need to spend all day stuffing her face with junk food. She ate when she was hungry and the ammount she felt like eating. My twins were born 6lb 2oz and 6lb 13oz at 37&1/2 weeks. They are 6 months old now and the healthiest kids I've ever seen.

Summary: Read MANY books on Twins, GET THIS ONE
Review: We have 6 children with our twins being the last 2 (we're 40 somethings)and knew nothing about what to expect. This book answered all of the questions and made us feel equipped to deal with the pregnancy. There was so much confusing information out there and this book not only simpified the info but gave us accurate advice from very experienced people. We were able to be more prepared when asking questions at our doctors office and realized that resting was a priority. We delivered our b/g twins at 7lbs2oz and 6lbs12oz at 36 weeks due to this books help. While the book talks about increasing calories and says you can eat "junk" food, it does assume you have some common sense and you are talking to your doctor about your diet. I gained 80 lbs and lost most of it at the hospital after their birth and the rest in 3 and half months without "dieting" so the concern for increased calories leading to an unhealthy gain were unfounded in our case. We referred to this book many times during the pregnancy and you will too. Buy this one first.

Summary: Most informative and best by far
Review: When I found out we were having twins I asked my doctors for information on twin pregnancies and found them lacking in information specific to multiples. So I hit the bookstore and read several books. I chose this one because it was recommended by Twins Magazine. I am someone that likes to have clear specific information and this book is the best. This book provided all of the steps that I was looking for to take the best care of my developing twins. There are days when I can't eat everything that I would like to, but I just do the best I can. This book gave me the tools I needed to understand what my goals should be. Additionally, Dr. Luke includes her website in the book in case you have further questions. I had a specific question and believe it or not, she emailed me a very supportive and informative answer the next day. I will take this book to my Dr.s and recommend not only that they read it but that they recommend it when they diagnose twin pregnancies. It is empowering at a time when things can feel very out of control.

Summary: Finally, a book that really helps.
Review: Yes, this book may seem to go overboard in trying to fatten you up, and I had to laugh at how many references to McDonalds there were, but I think this is one of the best books to prepare you for multiple pregnancy. The point of the author is to eat as much as you can to ensure the health and weight of your babies because they are often pre-term and will benefit greatly from early weight gain. The book is realistic, most people don't have spinach salads (...)every night, in fact she encourages eating fats and milkshakes. I really feel that by following her guidelines, our twins will have the best chance at a healthy birth weight and full term gestation.

My only complaint was that I wished she focused more on complications such as TTTS, but I guess since it's more of a preventative book she didn't have space for that.

Summary: A necessity for parents and parents to be of multiples
Review: You will find this book very helpful if you are expecting twins or more. The eating guidelines to help you have bigger (pounds) multiples is fantastic. Barb Luke was my nutritionist during my twin pregnancy with boy/girl twins and her book was my bible. My twins were 6lb 3 oz, and 5 lb 15 oz at 37 1/2 weeks! My husband read it too. He came to all my appointments with her and was confident and comfortable discussing the topics in the book. All the information in this book is helpful for GROWING HEALTHY BABIES
