Summary: I Already See Results
Review: For years, I have been trying different diets and various exercise techniques. These diets frequently involved eating next to nothing and the exercise techniques were never effective, as I was never sure what I was doing. After reading Mr. Villepigue's and Mr. Rivera's fitness book, I have learned how to eat right, without feeling hungry all the time, and how to exercise properly. The Body Sculpting Bible For Women is extremely detailed and informative. I have been following this book for about one month and I already see results. I have lost weight and my body is more defined. I thank Mr. Villepigue and Mr. Rivera for producing such a well-written book on fitness. Finally, a fitness book that is not impossible to understand! I highly recommend this book to any woman that is sick and tired of diets and exercises that do not work.

Summary: One of the best of its type
Review: I've read a lot of fitness/bodybuilding books, and have been training on & off for many years. I think this book is excellent, especially for beginners (but also very handy for experienced lifters too - there's a lot that I *thought* I knew, and was surprised to learn more i.e. super slow reps aren't necessarily the best way to work a muscle).

The detailed exercise instructions are by far the best feature of the book, as is the emphasis on commitment and the "mind-muscle connection" (they call it "zone-tone").

There were only a few problems I could see: 1) there are a LOT of typos and spelling/grammatical errors. Although it doesn't affect the excellent training & diet advice, that kind of thing always bothers me, because I think it reflects poorly on the professionalism of both authors and editors. 2) The diet section does not accomodate vegetarians or vegans in any way, and not everyone wants to eat this much chicken & fish, esp. considering all the hormones/antibiotics etc. in them. 3)The customer service is shady. In the Appendix section, it mentions that a companion workout/diet journal is available for purchase on their website, but it is not, I checked. When I called the cust. service phone #, I got voicemail, left 3 mssgs., and no return call. I tried another #, and it was disconnected. I searched all over the internet for this companion journal, to no avail. I even exchanged emails with one of the authors of this book, James Villepigue, but have not gotten any further info.

Other than that, I think this book gives excellent, solid workout and nutrition advice. It is not trendy, fly-by-night, low-carb nonsense, or "lose 10 lbs. in a week" stuff. It's very inspiring, and makes you want to hit the gym *consistently*!!!

Summary: all the info you need
Review: This book is about 10 times more helpful than several others I have purchased. It describes excercises in complete detail & has several pix of each, spells out exactly what excercises to do & when, when to switch up etc.
Not only that- it also has a complete nutritional guide, detailing what to eat to get the results you want- which is half of the battle!
So really it is 2 books in 1: a body sculpting & nutrition book.
AND there is a website where you can post questions & the authors actually answer them!!!! What could be better than that?? Besides a personal trainer- nothing.

Summary: Five weeks in...
Review: I first saw this book on display at the store, and was intrigued by the title (I mean, it's the "Body Sculpting Bible," I must chuckle...)

The book has several pros and cons, which I will spell out; and then I will tell you what my experience after five weeks has been.

But first, some background. This book is a BODY SCULPTING book, and anyone who took 5 seconds to peruse it in the store would realize and should accept that this book is ideal for gym training (ie. it requires the use of weights and machines) rather than purchasing it and complaining about this later.

The pros about the book:

1) the authors have a truly motivating voice. They themselves have been through a lot of ups and downs, and it shows through in the writing--they are really sensitive and want to help.

2) the pictures are good; the descriptions of the exercises are good and detailed as well

3) good background--why it is necessary to juggle things around after 14 days, the benefit of doing cardio in the morning rather than afternoon, metabolism, etc.

4) nutrition recommendations for those who are interested

5) great workouts--tells you exactly what to do.

The cons:

1) really needs an index

2) not especially good in telling you by how much you should periodically increase the weight

So far, I've noticed that I'm getting stronger (stronger hamstrings and triceps especially). BUT I haven't lost any inches or dropped any pant sizes or lost weight, despite being on this for 5 weeks now, and doing the Advanced plan (6 heavy-duty cardio workouts and 6 weight workouts a week). I've been devoting a LOT of time to the gym, and have been REALLY watching my caloric intake (my nutritional diet is fantastic--low carb, good protein, low fat). I'm a little disappointed about this. Is it me? Or is it them? I don't know yet.

I DO know that I am stronger, and that maybe 5 weeks isn't enough time to cast judgment. I'll do a 6th week, and then re-start with the Week 1 lessons at a higher level, like the authors suggest.

I'll let you know if I lose any inches.

Good luck!

Summary: The best book on weight training for women....period!
Review: The Body Sculpting Bible is the best women's weight training book I have ever read.

The authors present a vast collection of information on nutrition, motivation, and outline an exercise plan that is tailored to a woman's needs.

Unlike other books, The Body Sculpting Bible for Women is extremely well-organized, easy-to-follow, and comprehensive.

The exercise descriptions are very well written and detailed and the photos provide proper form which is key for success.

The appendix includes muscle charts, and a section on exercising during pregnancy and other special circumstances which is invaluable.

Finally, the authors present a sophisticated yet understandable training schedule which provides variety and intensity as needed.

Well done and recommended. Excellent job!

Summary: WOW!
Review: Before I bought this book I would spend 1-2 hours a day in the gym and get minimal results. I couldn't believe that I could spend an hour a day and get great results. I have only been doing this workout for 2 weeks and I am already noticing a difference.

I also had several questions in regard to the workout and Hugo responded to my questions almost immediately, I was amazed.

This book is defintely one that shouldn't be passed up.

Summary: Excellent Reference Book
Review: I've been working out pretty seriously for over a year, and have had great results.....following the Body for Life program (two challenges), working with a personal trainer, currently following Tom Venuto's Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle E-book.........it's a real journey, and yes, at this point, I enjoy going to the gym 6x per week! (Let me note that I don't spend hours at the gym; on alternate days, my cardio takes 30 minutes, and my weight training days are between 45-60 minutes.) I do it because it's a habit now; I love the results, and look and feel strong and vibrant. I guess you can say I'm a bit of a fitness junkie, and enjoy educating myself.....like a golf swing or anything else, you can always improve your level of sculpting by refining your form. I purchased this book after seeing it in a book store, and give it my top recommendation for it's detailed information about the best, tried-and-true weight training exercises.....I've been able to learn fine points on virtually all the moves that I do, to increase their effectiveness......also gives notable cautions, etc. The introductory information at the front of the book is solid. Even if you don't follow the program this book sets forth at the very end of the book, it is a great addition to your library. (Another book I recommend is Supervixen - for a step beyond this one. Check out the reviews of this on Amazon to see if you're interested.)

Summary: Don't trust the reviews
Review: Clearly about 80% of the reviews ofthis book have been written by the same person. The same format is used, the same spacing, the same words, always thanking the authors by name like an infomercial. Look at all the "Thank you James and Hugo!" reviews. Please, what a joke.

Summary: A GREAT & INFORMATIVE BOOK
Review: This is one of the best books I have read on women's weightlifting. It answers a lot of questions that other books don't. The book is filled with tons of information on weightlifting, nutrition, diet, etc. It has several workouts to choose from whether you are a beginner or if you have trained before. An excellent resource that you will go back to again and again. Thanks so much for such a great book.
