Rating: Summary: You'll use it again and again Review: This book is truly packed with information. I use many of the recipes for gardening, health and home. Using her advice for garden pests, I finally got rid of whatever was eating my basil and my sunflowers.
Rating: Summary: Great for reference, but maybe not beginners Review: This book is very informative about different conditions and how to help treat them with different arays of oils. The book also is easy to understand and well written, However, this may not be a recommended book for beginners (myself) to learn about the oils and how to properly use them. This is a invaluable book, however, but better served as a desk reference than a teaching manual.
Rating: Summary: Highly Recommended! Review: This book was my introduction to essential oils and aromatherapy. Included in the book are recipes for health and beauty, cooking, cleaning, domestic pet care/health, gardening and pest control. Tables provide information on essential oils origin, part(s) of plant used, type of plant, and typical areas of use. My husband became a believer after I started using the "Irritable/Disagreeable PMS" mixture.
Rating: Summary: The best beginner's aromatherapy handbook out there Review: This book was recommended to me some 10 years ago by my friend Cara Peloso. It is simple to read and use and most of all,the recipes work!!! I am now an aromatherapist in Brazil and I continue to use this book as a reference. My children no longer need anti biotics and i can't remember the last time I was sick.If you want a good basic book on aromatherapy, this is the one.Well written and concise. Lisa Kauffmann
Rating: Summary: Excellent for recipes Review: This is a great book for starting out or for recipes. As noted it doesn't cover the modes of action (turn to Kurt Schnaubelt or R. B. Tisserand if you want that), but it is an excellent book! It starts off with a basic care "kit" of ten moderately priced essential oils. However if you read the WHOLE (unlike those who claim she uses only ten) book you'll find she covers many others. She covers common medical problems (consult a doctor first, of course), beauty creams and lotions, household uses, garden uses, and food. I would research the pet uses first, she suggests giving tansy to a horse which is a good way to end up with a dead horse. When purchasing essential oils always check the scientific name of the plant from which the oils was extracted--otherwise you may end up with something other than you intended (ie. eucalyptus, eucalyptus lemon and eucalyptus peppermint depending upon whom you purchase them from are all labeled eucalyptus, it is the scientific name that distinguishes them) Overall this is an excellent, excellent book.
Rating: Summary: Excellent book! Review: This is absolutely my favorite book on aromatherapy. It is easy to understand, extremely well organized, and contains hundreds of useful formulas for practically every purpose. If I could have only one book on aromatherapy, this would be it!
Rating: Summary: Best Book for the Buck Review: This is an excellent book and the price here at Amazon is the best I've seen. After getting more deeply involved with the subject I did purchase one I found better but at over twice the price ... Use quality oils and follow these guidelines and aromatherapy and essential oils can surely enhance your life!
Rating: Summary: The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy Review: This is an excellent book! Easy to read and to understand, tells what essential oils are and how to use them. I have used mine so much it is falling apart, and will have to be replaced soon. I use it nearly every day. Great explainations of amounts needed to make your own formulas. Tells how to use essential oils in the home, garden, for travel, and beauty needs. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to get started on their own with essential oils.

Rating: Summary: insufficient information on the oils themselves. Review: This is better than many popular works, but, in my opinion falls short in some areas.Ms. Worwood uses geranium in almost every blend. Now, granted, geranium is a useful oil for physical and emotional balance, but she does tend to overdue it a bit. She also really doesn't give quite enough information about the individual oils. A lot of suggestions as to their uses, but if you are trying to research an individual oil, this is not the place to start. I'd also like to see more safety information; she seems to ignore the issue of sensitization. It's not a bad book; but not the be all and end all of aromatherapy information.
