Rating: Summary: One of my favorite/most used references Review: I am very happy with this book. I use it daily with two other essential oil references, which give in-depth descriptions of each essential oil. Ms. Worwood's book tells you best how to use the essential oils to treat common ailments and more. This is a great book for the beginner and reference for the expert.
Rating: Summary: A must have! Review: I bought 5 books on the subject of essential oils. This was by far the best. Valerie Ann Worwood is very concise and offers a blend for just about anything you might need...and then some. It is fabulous! Highly reccomend.
Rating: Summary: A massage therapist bible... Review: I have had this book for the past two years. Next to my hands, this book has helped ailments of hundreds of people. It has helped people who doubt and people who believe. This book is clear and easy. I have yet to find a book that compares. This is a book that should be in every household. Drug stores would lose lots of money if everyone would try aromatherapy first. My favorite and most used is the mixture of oils for cold's. It works everytime!!
Rating: Summary: Best Book To Buy To Learn/Use Essential Oils Review: I have literally worn this book out and had to purchase a second copy. This book allows even the novice to open it up, find an aliment and make an oil to help aleviate the problem. In addition, it covers everything from home care, pet care, cooking to children's care. When someone in my family has a discomfort this is the first book we reach for! You get more than your money's worth in this book. I have recommended this book to so many people. A definate buy!
Rating: Summary: This book killed our beloved cat Review: I have owned this book for many years (published under the title "The Fragrant Pharmacy"). I have used many of the remedies on myself and my children. There is a section in the book about using essential oils on cats and there's no warning about the fatal dangers.
On Sunday we found a tick on our 2-year old, beautiful Persian cat Leo. The book recommends putting a drop of Thyme oil on the tick and after if has fallen off, applying Lavender to the wound. Admittedly this advice is not specifically in the Cat section, but there are similar pieces of advice for other ailments in the Cat section. We applied one drop of Thyme and after the tick fell off we applied the Lavender as written. Leo got sicker and sicker despite daily visits to the vet. On Wednesday he died and the autopsy found kidney and renal failure. The vet said that it looked like he had been poisoned. This immediately rang warning bells for me about the Thyme and Lavender. I have been researching the Internet and have found countless warnings about using essential oils on cats. The reason is that cats are not able to metabolise many essential oils, especially those containing terpenes (which are present in Thyme and Lavender). They can cause liver and kidney toxicity and even death, which is what happened to Leo.
I am writing this in grief over our experience and still need to explain the cause of his death to my children and deal with the guilt I feel over contributing to Leo's death.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful book Review: I highly recommend this book for anyone looking into aromatherapy. I'm a beginner and this is the first book I bought and have been duly impressed. Ms. Worwood is a very good and intelligent writer, and provides a lot of information and recipes in a straightforward and practical manner.
Rating: Summary: got it; love it! Review: I love how in depth she gets about how to work with essential oils and work with smells to make healing scents. She has some wonderful suggestions at the back of the book and really makes it very easy to work with her recipes. you won't regret buying this one!
Rating: Summary: very practical guide Review: I love this book and the other books of Valerie Ann Worwood It is easy to read and the order is very good I use the book nearly everytime I work on somebody to refine the search to find the best oils for the person
Rating: Summary: Wonerful book for the beginner!!! Review: I love this book. As a beginner in armoatherapy, I learned a lot of useful information and with the basic care kit, everything was covered. The basic care kit of oils was a wonderful chapter....I saved money by keeping these oils in stock rather than every oil I might need. Pet care, body care, and so much more!
Rating: Summary: Oils for a healing experience. Review: I was first introduced to essential oils when I went for a massage. Soon lavender oil became one of my favorite oils. This book will help research these healing oils and find out which ones can benefit you. One thing you should think about is the source for your oils. Not all sources are created equal. For an excellent source for these health giving oils, look for Reference Guide for Essential Oils by Connie and Alan Higley. They have the best oils and have researched this subject extensively.
