Review: I have been on the Atkins Diet since October, 1998. I have lost 32 pds to date. A list of low carb and no carb foods can only help to aide you in the planning of your meals. Don't eat the same thing over and over - Mix and experiment. I've lost 32 and FEEL GREAT - Imagination and low carbs taught by Dr. Atkins Diet Revolution - You can too.

Summary: When i tried it the first time it worked.
Review: I believe the reason why my metabolism isn't working because of expired flour i ate.I started having problems.Please try to help to find a cure for my problem.With your diet my son lost 40LBS.

Summary: Very good as a SUPPLEMENT to the New Diet Revolution
Review: I've read all the comments made about this book and would like to offer the following. This booklet is not meant to be used to "follow" the diet. It is a companion to The New Diet Revolution which is essential reading for anyone on this diet. I have been on it for several weeks now and I'm at the "maintenance" stage. For those of you who are looking up wine in the Carb Counter booklet, it is not listed simply because wine is made with grapes (the highest sugar content fruit) and sugar isn't allowed on this diet.

Summary: Extremely overpriced little booklet
Review: I purchased the "companion" book(let) to Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution . I was extremely disappointed when I saw it resembled not much more that the little booklets sold near the grocery store checkout area (i.e. Calory Counters, Names for Babies, etc.).

The booklet itself isn't a bad little booklet, which contains carbohydrate grams, protein grams and fat grams for a lot of foods, but it's only 95 pages long, each page about 4" by 5", and I've seen much larger, pocketbook size carbohydrate counter books available for a lower price. I just don't think it was worth it.

Summary: At last! A diet that really works!
Review: I am very glad to have the carbohydrate counter book as a supplement to the Diet Revolution. It does take the guess-work out of deciding what you can or cannot eat. I have lost 15 pounds on The Atkins diet and continue to lose. I am what you call a 'Diet Queen' . I have been on every diet known to man and this is the only way if you are a person who has trouble staying away from carbohydrates you will rarely feel hungry on the plan. When I do get that urge to cheat, nothing beats a large bowl of sugar-free gelatin.

EVERYONE...GO ON THE ATKINS DIET! It is safe and very effective.

Summary: Very incomplete and hard to follow
Review: While I cannot comment on the diet itself, the book leaves much to be desired with respect to how it is presented. It is incomplete. Such an example is that there is no listing for the grams of carbohydrates in pasta, which is one of the most widely celebrated carbohydrate foods. Yet there is a listing of the carbohydrates in Dandelions. It is hard to really get to an understanding of what the no no's are...just a few examples. The charts and diagrams are not presented in a clear way, and speak more of the philosophy of the diet, rather than the instruction on how to run it. It also failed to address the common person. There are many exotic foods listed; but not even a mention of whether a glass of wine is acceptable and if so, under what terms. I'm sure that the diet has good merit, but somebody else should have written it.

Summary: Right on - very easy to follow and great food - not boring
Review: This diet is one of the best I have every been on. This is not only a diet, but a way of life that my husband and I choose to lead. He has heart problems and after being on this diet for only 2 weeks he has lost approximately 25 pounds; I about 12 in 3 weeks. His cholesterol and triglycerides are down and his blood pressure. Istill have my chocolate cravings, but they are less. I recommend this book to anyone who has had trouble loosing weight or has a slow metabolism. Great life-style change for the better.

Summary: I'm still a little leary...
Review: I've read both Atkins books and I completely understand the concept but after 4 days of the diet I started to feel awful. My insides felt like they were quivering and I started to get shooting pains down my arms. As soon as I stopped the diet I felt better. I want to lose weight but it doesn't seem like this diet works for me. Should I try to continue anyway? Lose weight and not feel great?

Summary: This book is a small subset of the available information.
Review: Dr. Atkins' carbohydrate counter is a very small subset of the available carbohydrate information available, somewhat similar to a quick reference guide in other fields: Some information, but maybe not quite what is being sought. The organization of the book, into lists of beverages, or grains and breads, or nuts and seeds, milk and dairy, etc., makes it a bit more difficult to look up items -- why not just use the alphabet? I looked up wine -- not an umpopular item in this age -- and it was not listed. The most positive thing I can say about this book is that its small size (less that a quarter inch thick and somewhat smaller than a typical paperback) makes it a good purse or pocket book; just don't expect encyclopedic information from it.

Summary: Full of scientifically supported facts. Easy to understand.
Review: Have tried so many diets and never can lose more than 5 to 7 lbs in weeks. One week just using Dr. Atkinson's 14 day start up weight loss program both my husband and I have lost noticeable weight. Me 12 lbs and he 5 which is unusual as he usually loses much faster. Can't wait to get my recipe cookbook and keep loosing weight the delicious way.
