Summary: Total Waste of Money
Review: As one other reviewer has said, this book was totally empty of any swimming-specific exercises or information. I have the feeling they simply do a find and replace and substitute "Swimming" for "Football" or "Squash" or whatever. The positive reviews for this book all look like they were put in there by friends or employees, because they obviously a. weren't swimmers, and b. didn't read the book. I wouldn't pay 99 cents for this book, much less twenty bucks. There is nothing here that couldn't be found in other less expensive and better-written books.

Summary: A great swimming specific strength and conditioning workout.
Review: Every swimmer knows that strength and conditioning is everything. The stronger and better conditioned you are, the better swimmer you will be. That's why i bought this book, and it did exactly that. It improves your strength, conditioning, stamina, and endurance, and reduces injuries too. The weight training programs in this book hit the nail right on the head for what I was looking for - a swimming specific workout.

Summary: GREAT SWIMMING BOOK
Review: First, let me give the context in which I bought this book. I am a Coach, I bought this book with the hopes of having an easy to reference resource that I could turn to for insight and information, maybe even some new ideas. I have had trainers come in to my program and give lectures, walk us through a program, but never had anything to reference when I had questions, or when the kids had questions I couldn't answer.

I have not seen other books by this publisher/author, but noticed there are weight training books for just about every sport. I would bet the excersises listed for bowling are the same as the excersises for swimming, football, and ping pong! VERY general excersises (squats, curls, etc.), the only excersise I saw remotely specific to swimming was a rotator cuff excersise that a trainer friend of mine told me could be harmful.

What angered me most about my purchase was the title of the book referenced swimming specifically. Yet not anywhere in the book did I see the benefits of an excersize as it relates to swimming. I would have liked to have known how a particular exercise translated into supposed success in the pool for example. Or this excersise was a shoulder injury prevention excersise and why. Maybe something even more general such as how opposing muscle imbalances cause shoulder injuries. SOMETHING. If you are truly looking for something specific to swimming, look elsewhere. If you play or coach multiple sports and want a general program, this book will suffice for all of your sports.

Summary: A Real Splash!!
Review: I found that this book increased my speed, strength, and endurance. Often times, by increasing strenght, swimmers lose efficiency in their strokes. I found that this book did a great job increasing stroke power, while reiterating the need to maintain stroke efficiency. A GREAT BUY!

Summary: I LOVE THIS PROGRAM!
Review: I have read tons of weight training books over the years, but never one as specifically focused as this one! Every swimmer out there would benefit from reading this book. The program has results that you can notice within weeks.

Summary: Stay away
Review: It is unfortunate how these guys write a single book and publish 20 or more covers for it. This book, or other ones in the series "The Ultimate Guide to Weight Training..." has no sports-specific information in them, period. And, all the positive reviews are curiously vague. At least, they are really bad writers, and that helps to distinguish fake praises from genuine criticism. The bottomline is that you are not going to find anything about swimming in this book. If you want a 60-page manual on weight lifting, go ahead and buy it but there are certainly better books out there for this purpose.

Summary: unbeatable
Review: Of all the training books out there today, this is the only one i have seen that really speaks to the swimmer specifically! This is an invaluable resource for any swimmer or coach. I would recommend this to the novice swimmer or a pro. Two thumbs up!
