Summary: This book changed my dog's life for the better!
Review: The first time I skimmed through the book, I was a little overwhelmed, but after I read it a couple of times, it all made sense. My dog LOVES the recipes in the book and she's just a tiny chihuahua. If she'll eat it, any dog will. I have saved tons of money on vet bills by using Dr. Pitcairn's natural remedies.I would recommend this book to anyone with pets or is thinking of getting pets. It is the most useful pet book I have ever read.

Summary: Unbelievably Logical!
Review: This was my first introduction to natural feeding for our pets, but it's absolutely logical. Dr. Pitcairn has written this book so that just about the time you ask "Yes, but...." he answers it in the very next paragraph. The difference natural feeding has made in the health of my pets is just too wonderful to explain in one little paragraph. I could never go back to feeding kibble now that I have been exposed to this! I recommend this to anyone who is having a difficult time with the health of their animals!

Summary: An easy way to improve the life of your dog
Review: At first I thought maybe it was a little off the deep end. But, in actual practice, feeding your dog healthy food takes no time at all. The difference is amazing. My shihtzu lost most of his puppy tri-colors...3 months later they are all coming back! People comment on how soft his coat is all the time. Now, my puppies know when i am cooking for them and they get so excited. That says something! I have never seen them jump for dry dog food before. It's worth a try. The book also has a great reference area for caring for your pet if you suspect they might not be feeling so well. A must have book for people who love their little people.

Summary: A great starter book but with plenty of details.
Review: This is the first book on natural health for pets I've read, and I love it. He gives good advice but with no sense of judging us for valuing our conveniences. I especially appreciated the candid section on vegetarian feed for pets. It's always been a dilemma of mine: should I be trying to limit my their meat intake just like I limit mine? I feel confident now about what my pet is eating (and not eating).

Summary: An excellent guide book for your pets healthcare
Review: When my Eskie pup was diagnosed with patella luxation (slipped kneecaps),I was shocked and surprised that my vet recommended to put her on anti-inflammatories for life and if she got to a point of lameness, surgery. Which by the way is not guaranteed to solve the problem. That started my search for a natural approach. Dr.Pitcarin's book has helped me see that a natural diet is the start to a much healthier pet. I've been using the receipes for 4 months now and I find both my dogs have responded very well. The book also encouraged my to find a holistic vet to care for my puppies disorder. She is on natural supplements with no side effects, unlike anti-iflammatories, and is playing and sprinting about like a puppy should. On the subject of vaccination, Dr. Pitcarin is to the point when he says overvaccinating actually weakens the animals system and can be harmful. When you stop to think about it, would you vaccinate yourself or your child EVERY year for measles? No, it's a vaccine thats administered once in a lifetime at a very young age. I highly recommend this book for your 4 legged kiddies!

Summary: Most useful pet book on the market today.
Review: Dr.Pitcairn's new updated edition is without a doubt, one of the most useful books in market place. I feel any pet owner should have copy in their library and refer back often. We have placed our Borzoi on the natural diet and I am impressed with results. Since we breed Borozi, we are always looking to increase the quality of each animal. Feeding this diet does just that. They are happier, have more vitality, increase coat growth and the pigment in the coat is deeper. I also appreciate the work that went into the vaccination section and we have changed our protocol for vaccines in our kennel. Thank You! I would appreciate any way to get more information on the subject of vaccinations and thyroid disorders asw ell as immune problems caused by 'over vaccinations'. I feel this is very true and many animals could easily do with less vaccination. Finda vet in your area who is willing to follow the guidelines in this book. Summary: This is the EASIEST and most reasonable holistic pet guide.
Review: Before this book, I had decided it would be WAY too much work to switch to a natural diet. This decision was based on other holistic resources that went hard-core overboard, suggesting elaborate (and often kooky) lifestyle and perspective changes.

This book is soft-core, describing many reasonable "baby steps" you can take that will make your pet's life better with only minor effort on your part (like a cottage cheese supplement for dry chow). If you are like me and the reader above, you will eventually feed your pet exclusively the natural diet and you will gain a holistic perspective about his/her health. You may then crave more hard-core information.

Summary: Excellent source for natural and holistic nutrition!
Review: When my seven-year old dog, Sierra, developed an autoimmune disorder (megaesophagus), I was hurt, angry, upset, and all the other emotions you must go through with illness. Sierra was my best friend, and now she was terribly ill. After over $1,000 in diagnostic testing and Western medicine, I turned to a homeopathic vet, who gave me a few recipes out of this wonderful book. Even though Sierra had much difficulty swallowing and keeping foods down, the high-quality nutrients I was giving her by following these diets helped her to remain alert and happy for a few more months. She even gained some weight! Unfortunately, I had to make a terrible decision and sent Sierra on a beautiful journey where I hope she can, once again, eat whatever she wants! But these recipes continue with me, as I have a new pup, and two cats! You probably won't feed your furkids the commercial stuff after you read this book

Summary: A Lot of Helpful Information Here
Review: I bought this book about 2 years ago and I am very pleased with it. I started making my own cat food as suggested and I solved a chronic loose stool problem that wasn't even helped with perscription pet food from the vet. The recipes are very detailed and I like that. He really explains exactly what you need to make the food and gives a lot of choices and substitutions. This is the first holistic pet book I would recommed to someone wanting information on holistic pet care. I find it more reliable because it is written by a vet rather than a layperson
