Review: I have 2 Siamese cats who are 15 and an Oriental that is 10. All 3 cats have been vomiting off and on for many years. A friend recommened this book and within one week, there has been only one episode of vomiting. The Oriental has been told to loose weight and one of the Siamese needs to gain weight. The diet has worked for both. The Oriental is the most playful I have seen her in years. I highly recommend this book for animals with any type of problem.

Summary: Absolutely fantastic!
Review: I rescued a horribly abused dog from a terrible home about 8 years ago. He had multiple problems, including a chronic ear infection (or so the vets told me). He was lethargic, had no "twinkle" in his eyes, chewed his feet constantly until he'd whimper from his self-inflicted pain. I literally spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars (and, I might add, valuable years) to help him get well! I tried all the diets and foods the vets recommended, including the expensive foods you can purchase only at their facilities, again spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars. Nothing worked. Groomers even tried to help. I switched vets and groomers several times. One day when my groomer (who breeds small dogs) was cleaning my dog's ears, she noticed signs of ear mites deep in the ear canal. She applied her own remedy, and talked to me about Dr. Pitcairn's book, and told me the name of an excellent over-the-counter (and inexpensive) treatment for the ear mites. I purchased the book and began reading it; I couldn't lay it down! I had felt for years that commercial dog food was the root of most animals' problems, but continued to purchase the highly-recommended foods the vets suggested (and sold). After just six weeks of following the advice and recipes in Dr. Pitcairn's book, and treating the ear mites as suggested therein, my loveable "little guy" was (and still is) a completely changed dog! Ear mites are history; lethargic is no longer in our vocabulary; his coat is shiny and healthy, he has sparkling eyes, clean teeth, has quit chewing on his feet, romps and plays like a 1-year-old (he's 11 years old!) and even tolerates his active "sister" who's a year old! He's no longer fussy about his food--food that I personally wouldn't hesitate to eat. We grow our own veggies and herbs, organically, and he eats them right out of the garden--including garlic! Dr. Pitcairn should be given a medal for writing such a long-needed book! It's one of the best investments I've ever made on behalf of my dogs, and I'm looking forward to their longevity and "growing old together." Thanks for the opportunity to review this book; it's a must-read for cat and dog lovers everywhere!

Summary: One of the best books on the subject of alternative diets
Review: As an animal nutritionist for some years, and a breeder of German Shepherd dogs, I find this book to be one of the best written on the subject of alternative diets. Whether or not there are references to back what he claims, as far as Mr. Pitcairns knowledge is concerned, he is right on the money. I actually have been using diets that are close to what is in this book for a lot of years, and after doing years of research into both domestic and wild animals I have managed to build a complete database on the results of feeding companion animals diets such as are written in this book, and to an animal we find then healthier, longer living, and have less problems in old age. My dogs have lived to a ripe old age and never been to a vet in their lives. I am glad to see that this type of nutrition is finally out there in book form, and as far as I am concerned, long overdue.

Summary: Astounding
Review: We have a 1.5 y.o. Llaso Apso who has had dry skin since birth. He started really scratching in the Fall nearing his first birthday. Then the loss of fur, scratching so bad that sores appeared and change of fur texture. His back end and legs are the worst areas. The groomer had been suggesting we look at Dr. Pitcairn's book for some time but we were very 'ignorant' to the books kind of approach. Finally we had to do something! His temperment and bright personality didn't change but you just knew he was uncomfortable all the time. The recipes and suggestions of homeopathy were the way to go, for us and our little furry friend. It has lead us into a new world of health and cure. We have found a wonderful Homeopathic Specialist who's treatments were great. It has been a couple of months and the change is amazing!!! He has always been complimented on his beautiful coat and now his whole body is beginning to look healthy again. All of you out there who own a pet MUST get or read this book. You will be astounded at what you will learn and you will see questions asked and answered like 'why are there so many human diseases like cancers showing up in our pets?'. Thank you both for helping us and our little 'baby boy' whom we adore!!!

Review: This book does for dogs and cats what "Prescription for Nutritional Healing" does for humans. It talks about natural diet and nutritional supplements, and it has a large section on ailments with suggestions for herbal, homeopathic and nutritional remedies. There's also a section on first aid.

Review: After reading about what is put in pet food, I purchased this book for its recipes for home made pet food. I have found it to be worth so much more. It is a great reference book that all pet owners should have in thier collections. It contains everything from selecting a pet to treatments for common ailments. I couldn't say enough about this book.

Summary: Most of us treat our pets like family, now fead them as such
Review: A friend of mine let me borrow her book so that I could copy some of the recipes to use for my new puppy. I found myself reading and interested in everything in this book from front to back and am buying myself my own copy! I think this is going to be real beneficial for my cats. I have noticed that they are not as in good health as they ought to be. Things like cuts don't heal very quickly and almost always leave scars, and they don't have very shiny coats makes me sceptical of their overall health. I think this book will definetly help. I want my pets to live as long as they can; I can't imagine being without them!

Summary: A Holistic Approach: It's about time!
Review: This book is a must for every dog owner. I've watched helplessly as my 9 year old dog's health detoriated. My mother inspired me to make home-made dog food, insisting that my dog needed higher quality nutrients. Admittedly, I was reluctant. But she was right! My dog was doing better w/i 3 months, simply by eating better. Then I found this book, and it confirmed everything I suspected, as well as taught me even more. Thank you, Dr. Pitcairn, for saving so many dogs! Now, we just need to get this book into the hands of every dog owner AND vet!

Review: Dr. Pitcairin's book gives you everything you need to feed your dog or cat using foods that most of us normally have in the house. The book contains some of the best hostolic treatments for most common injuries. I've used this book for the last 20 yrs, and have given it away as presents. The best there is on feeding your pets and caring them for.

Summary: Good health, great information and sweet breath
Review: After reading about the evils contained in conventional pet food, I immediately went home and apologized to my two miniature dachshunds. I also began using Dr. Pitcairn's recipes and have noticed an increase in energy that I'm sure will translate into health benefits. The recipes are easy to make and have done more to help that awful situation of dog breath so often found in smaller dogs.
