Summary: The BEST!!!
Review: This is absolutely the best book out there. This book saved my 13 year old Yorkie's life. She was overweight, always hungry and couldn't exercise due to a collapsed trachea. I have been feeding her the Weight Loss food for 2 years and she LOVES it!!! She wouldn't be here right now if it wasn't for this book. It also helped me heal her after she had dental surgery and gave me ideas for what to feed her during this time. I found the beginning of the book extremely interesting - but beware, after reading it you won't be able to feed your pet regular pet food ever again!!

Summary: Happy Healthy Dogs
Review: This book was recommended to me after one of my three dogs was diagnosed with arthritis. I did not go completely natural with their diet yet, but I plan to soon. People have recently pointed out how much happier & healthier our dog seems. Her coat is thicker, more shiny & she seems to have less gray hair now. She is also more energetic. Our other dogs seem very happy with the new diet too. I am so happy with this book, I am buying another one for a friend.

Summary: A "must-have" on the shelf of every dog or cat companion
Review: This book was actually an "upgrade" for me as I had the Pitcairns previous addition. I am thankful this husband and wife team decided to update their work as it was needed. The old book was written in an age when fewer people had access to good quality natural food stores with their now common staples of herbal and homeopathic remedies. Reflecting recent research, and continuing the constant educational crusade of alerting the human companions of dogs and cats to the truth about pet food, the Pitcairns continue to offer alternatives to highly-processed, poor-quality food that literally kills (or drastically shortens the life) of our beloved dogs and cats.Like many of the reviewers for this book, I could regale you with real-life stories of my previously unhealthy pets (adopted through animal shelters or rescue societies) who were changed by altering their diets, much to the astonishment of their veternarians. I would rather alert you to the fact that, as with everyone, what an animal eats is crucial to its health and two of my wonderful animal companions (a cat given up for a allergic (human's that is) reaction and a dog with chronic skin problems with big vet bills attached) would not have been given up had their previous owners spent approximately 8 dollars more a month on either a higher quality food or fresh food easily made into a raw-foods diet. For anyone with cats interested in exploring their animal's health in depth (or who are endangered of needing to give up a cat due to a family members allergic reaction), I would also strongly encourage you to buy Anitra Frazier's The New Natural Cat.

Summary: This should be read by all cat and dog owners
Review: This was the start of home-cooked and uncooked feeding of my three dogs. I started this search for information because one of my Westies who we adopted at the age of 10, was arthritic and I just wanted for him to have a longer and happier life. My other two benefited greatly! I have since gone on to read Billinghurst's books as well as other well-known, anti-dog kibble proponents. This should be one of the mainstays of the pet-owner's library

Summary: If you have pets, you'll need this book.
Review: This book is a pet guardian's bible. It provides invaluable info on nutrition, health care, homeopathic and herbal remedies and cases of emergency. It really paid off for me when my kitten had an infection in August 2001, the vets of my area were all on vacation and I was desperate. And following the info on this book, I chose a homeopathic remedy (with fingers crossed). My boy was fine in a matter of hours. Now I keep it close to my bed for fast access.

Summary: Great Book!
Review: Ten years ago, my dog was diagnosed with terminal cancer, and the local vet with the best reputation insisted that he must be put to sleep to put him (the dog) out of his misery. The vet said my dog would not live more than a couple more days. I didn't think this dog and I were done with enjoying each other's company yet, so I refused to follow the vet's advice. I obtained every book and consulted every holistic consultant I could get a hold of quickly to find alternatives. Pitcairn's book was the most valuable book I found. I followed many of its recommendations, and my dog and I continued to enjoy each other's company for a couple more months. When my dog did die, he did so in my lap, wagging his tail, and so peacefully. I knew I had done the best for him. Now that I am getting a cat, this will be the first book I get, although I will get this newer edition.

Summary: results of diets for dogs and cats
Review: Within one week of feeding my dog and cats the diets featured in this book the energy leval of my pets has been amazing. They are all over the age of eight but act as if they are puppies and kittens again. I would recomend this book to anyone who loves their pets. It really dos'nt take that much time to prepare the recipes and they really love it.
