Rating: Summary: What Your Doctor May Not Tell you About Menopause Review: This book was recommended to me by my sister-in-law who is a pharmacist. Ironically since becoming a pharmacist she has immersed herself in natural remedies for prevention etc..I have been encouraging her to become a nature pathologist with her knowledge. She told me that she uses this book as her womans health bible. She told me the title really doesnt do the book justice. She is only 29 and I am only 30 and it it already helping both of use with many health questions that have nothing to do with menopause. I encourage all woman out there to purchase this book and share the information.
Rating: Summary: Personal Testimony Re: Natural Progesterone Review: I had not experienced many menstrual problems throughout my life, but began to about one year ago. As I was unaccustomed to having to deal with these extreme and very violent symptoms, I was quite disturbed and anxious. I had heard about Dr. Lee's book, and sought to first learn of natural remedies before seeking professional medical help on the matter. Since natural progesterone cream would not harm my body, it was worth a try first before going down the traditional medical path. A natural nutrition consultant told me that my symptoms were classic perimenopausal (pre-menopausal) and that she believed this would be beneficial for me.I bought a tube, and began applying the small amount twice daily as was instructed. I actually forgot to do it many times, and so my use of the cream was sporadic. I had a one month's supply last for four months. Nevertheless, the results were phenomenal. My condition has been turned around almost 100% within these several last months. I am amazed, because I really believe that if I would have gone to a traditional medical doctor, I would have been initiated into estrogen HRT and perhaps a hysterectomy. I am very pleased with the wonderful results, and to know that I am not "doomed" to go down traditional menopausal and aging path. I can postpone menopause and lessen its eventual symptoms. I applaud Dr. Lee's courage to take the road less traveled. Even if a scientist and pioneer has to go against the grain of political correctness in his field, he can take great comfort to know that he has not done so in vain. Dr. Lee has done a great good and benefitted many, and time will only increase the level of awareness and success stories, to the detriment of the old guard "good old boys club" (AMA and pharmaceutical industry). Kudos to Dr. Lee!
Rating: Summary: THIS BOOK IS INCREDIBLE!! Review: This book is absolutely incredible! All the weird symptoms I've had since I was a teenager are starting to make sense. I never realized so many problems could be related to estrogen dominance. I've known I had "too much estrogen" for about 8 years ever since my first surgery for endometriosis. But I could never figure WHY. Even though I cleaned up my diet, the endo eventually returned with incredible pain. I also realized the increasing pain in my knees and back are probably osteoporis and arthritis setting in (at 37!) because of a hormone imbalance. It is all so clear now. This book is written very clearly with the layperson in mind. It is a must read for every woman from teenager to 100 yr old. Especially those who want answers to the barrage of problems we suffer with, that most doctors can't fix without tons of drugs and surgery.
Rating: Summary: What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Menopause Review: This book is a "must read" for women, no matter what age. I use this book as my text book and guide. It is easy to read, concise and thorough. It touches on every issue from pre-menopause on through post-menopause.
Rating: Summary: DR. LEE'S BOOK IS A GODSEND Review: In eight years I became "hot natured," gained 20 pounds, began to search for words and for the most part walked around in a fog. Chores I once accomplished with ease required great effort and I became impatient when I could not find things. Even more disabling-my occasional headaches increased to up to thirteen a month and became migraines. Since I'd just turned 51 a friend suggested it might be hormones and recommended I get a hormone saliva test. While I was waiting for the test results another friend gave me some progesterone cream. The results were almost immediate. The frequency and intensity of the migraines decreased, my mental fog lifted, I felt more relaxed and I had more energy. In short-I was my old self again. My hormone saliva test confirmed my suspicions-my estrogen and testosterone levels were normal but my progesterone level was near zero. That's when I found Dr. John R. Lee's book "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You about Menopause." I was shocked to learn that most menopausal women of western industrial countries have estrogen dominance (they've become deficient in progesterone) because they've been exposed to more estrogen substances in their meat, detergents, pesticides, herbicides, auto pollution and plastic household utensils. The combination of environmental pollutants, lack of exercise, cultural attitude and a diet rich in animal fat, sugar, refined starches and processed food leads to Western women's estrogen levels to be twice as high as women in the Far East and in third-world-countries whose passage through menopause is mostly symptom free. To correct the progesterone deficiency Dr. Lee recommends natural progesterone made from Mexican wild yams or soy products as they can easily be used and eliminated by the body and have no known side effects. He said synthetic hormones like progestin are not the equivalent to natural hormones and put women at risk of endometrial and breast cancer, autoimmune disorders, osteoporosis and other symptoms. I was surprised to learn that since the 1800s natural substances such as progesterone cannot be patented. Since man-made hormones are more profitable for the pharmaceutical companies (who delineate the protocols for research) they have a huge impact on science. Because of advertising many people, including physicians, think that progestin, a synthetic product, is actually progesterone. For example, estrogen alone is credited for a decrease in heart attacks and an increase of bone mass in post menopausal women but the confounding effect of progestins has never been studied. Dr. Lee's own research shows reversals of osteoporosis without the use of estrogen supplements. Best of all natural progesterone cream may help reduce or prevent migraines as it counteracts blood vessel dilation, restores normal vascular tone, and helps with blood sugar control. Since I've read Dr. Lee's book and started the natural progesterone I've heard many "miracle" stories about the cream from others and I'm delighted to ad my own.
Rating: Summary: A must for all women to read! Review: This book and the one Dr Lee followed with: "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Premenopause" should be on every woman's "must read" list. Natural progesterone works for those unwanted symptoms of menopause, early menopause, P.M.S., etc., and makes logical sense to all of us who don't accept the idea of using medication that can produce dangerous and perhaps life-threatening side effects. I for one am thankful that there is actually a physician out there that cared enough about his patients to veer from mainstream thinking and make his own discoveries in this area of women's health.
Rating: Summary: Attn: Women-This Book Could Save Your Life!!! Review: Thank you Dr.Lee for this very informative book!It really opened my eyes big time on the subject of treating menopause. I hope every woman, concerned about her health, will read this book.
Rating: Summary: Relief at last Review: Over the last two years, I have struggled more and more with PMS, weakness, weight gain, and extremely heavy, irregular periods. After thousands of dollars of tests and no cause found except slightly irregular thyroid levels, my doctor put me on Synthroid. However, she told me if this didn't work the only other solution was a complete hysterectomy. At the same time I started taking Synthroid, my sister convinced me to try progesterone cream. My symptoms improved immediately. I was so happy to be feeling normal again, I didn't care whether it was the Synthroid or progesterone! Then a few months later I ran out of progesterone cream and stopped using it completely. My symptoms returned immediately. I rushed to the local GNC to get more progesterone, and the owner told me about Dr. Lee's book, which I purchased the same day. It was so comforting and helpful to finally understand what was happening to me, I nearly cried! I strongly believe that a woman with reproductive problems should consult her doctor as the first step, but when the doctors and their tests find nothing wrong, Dr. Lee's book may provide answers, and relief.
Rating: Summary: Women: read this book! Review: My gynecologist recommended this book to me when I complained about the insomnia I was experiencing during PMS. After almost a year on progesterone cream, I assure you it has made a huge difference! Not only does it help the insomnia, but my moodiness and night sweats are gone! The only time these symptoms reoccur is when I neglect to use the cream regularly during my cycle. I am particularly glad to know there is an alternative to estrogen replacement therapy since my older sister was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Please do yourself a favor - read this book to make an educated choice for your premenopausal and menopausal healthcare.
Rating: Summary: Title Tells it All Review: Read this book and take control of your own health. Achieve the strength, confidence and knowledge to tell your doctor what kind of tests or treatment YOU want! Just when you thought you were going off the deep end Dr Lee will show you how to help yourself and realize you are not alone. Terrific resource.
