Summary: Power to your Mind and Body
Review: This is the first book I ever read on Physical Culture, and I must say that I'm hooked on it. I've read numerous other books and delved deeper into the science of training, but the further I go, the more I appreciate Power to the People. All roads lead back to PTP. It is simple, easy to learn and more effective than any other program I have encountered. It is a lot more than a program of sets, reps and excercises. It is a liberal philosophy towards all physical culture, which can be manipulated towards whatever your strength goals might be. Whether you want a strong, wiry physique or big muscles, the ideas presented here will work for you.
This is about the most user-friendly textbook you will ever read. Consider it the "Owner's Manual" for your body. It tells you exactly what to do, when, how and why you do it. And if you don't want to, it will make you do it! You will not find a more concise, fun to read, humorous, well-constructed book on training out there. This is the best of the best, and you owe it yourself to try it. You will experience a surge of strength you never thought possible.
My personal experience has been a two-fold increase in my pulling strength and a 70% increase in my presses. Unlike my previous experiences with weight training, these gains were functional. I now run faster, jump higher and hit harder. Forget trying to find an easy way out. No magic pill or miracle machine will give you results; lifting heavy and training smart is the only way!

Summary: Good Starting Point
Review: PTP is a great book for people new to strength training. It is not for strongman cadets (unless as a starter). PTP concentrates on building some functional strength and core strength and could be used for a lifetime, provided your goal isn't to bend bars and throw boulders around.

Once you have built the fondation of core strength you may want to look into Pavel's Russian Kettlebell Challenge. The RKC will allow you to continue building your functional strength WITHOUT becoming a bulked up gym-rat.

I do have to say that the size WILL surprise you. This is a pretty thin book for the money. Some magazines are thicker. For a taste of Pavel's writting check out Muscle Media Magazine.

Summary: Expensive
Review: This book teaches you basic form of building power without gaining muscles and gives info about how to the basics, however it is expensive compared to the info like all Pavel books. Some positions are dangerous and nearly for weightlifters and must be applied very carefuly. If you have a problem with your spine never do these!!

Summary: Power to the People! : Russian Strength Training Secrets
Review: Save your money and look for a real book on Powerlifting and or strength training. This book basically talked about deadlifts, floor presses(dangerous) and military presses. It's basically a book on powerlifting for someone who is not interested in bodybuilding, powerlifting, or getting bigger. You might get stronger than the average couch potato with the routines he provided in his book. You will not get the muscle mass density or strength of a powerlifter or bodybuilder. If you want to get strong you have to lift big and when you do, you will get bigger and stronger muscles. You will even lose bodyfat in the process. Look for books on Powerlifting to get stronger. Their basic powerlifting routines will increase your strength and muscle mass a lot faster than those lightweight routines Commie man placed in his book. I heard that World-Renowned Powerlifting Champion Ed Coan has a book out and that's the book I want to get.

Summary: Strength without bulk if you want it- can't beat it
Review: I began using this program. I already note more stability in lifts and more strength. This program agrees with other Eastern European sources I have and is also based upon old American techniques which have been partially forgotten in their homeland. I had heard of Liederman through Sensei Richie Barathy's obituary in Kung Fu, and spent fruitless years searching for a book which embodied his ideas. Well, here it is.

All of the techniques are designed to be economical (you only need an Olympic weight set and a place to use it), safe and effective. You will not need any expensive machines, a spotter, nor even a warmup (Mr. Tsatsouline shows why warmups are a waste of time and are counterproductive). You can do the entire routine in as little as twenty minutes.

The book is aimed at non-technical people who want to grow strong. True, there is no bibliography, but there are citations throughout the book. The program is safe enough that you can forge ahead on your own without worry of injury. The size of the book is kept to a minimum by keeping it simple, direct and to the point, a philosophy which runs through the work like a thread.

Does Power to the People! mention bodybuilding? Yes, there is mention of this program for that use. Mr. Tsatsouline does mention how to achieve large muscle size, and shows how to modify his program to achieve that goal.

Anybody who wants to be strong should have this book.

Summary: Excellent book
Review: This is a book I highly recommend. The author has sound and unique theories on strenght training that I have used in my own workout sessions with great results. Truly one of the best books on strenght training I have read. - Rudyard Moncayo, Personal Trainer.

Summary: Bottom Line-It works
Review: Written in a clear concise format with its share of Russian humor. If you want to be stronger and harder than you have ever been in your life, then buy the book!! If you want to attain these goals and keep your workouts to 30 minutes or less-buy the book!! This guy knows his stuff. There is more information and concepts on training than in a textbook on the subject. Everytime you pick it up you learn something new and useful.
Buy the book and get to work!!

Summary: The best book on gaining strength there is
Review: This is without a doubt the ultimate authority on gaining strength in the iron game. I have only been using Pavels techniques for a short time however the gains I made would have taken me years using my old Bodybuilding techniques. These are the russian secrets which has made them dominate the iron game for 50 + years. This book is worth double its weight in gold for the strength trainer.

Summary: A must read for Martial Artists
Review: I've been a student of the martial arts for over 15 years. In particular Moodukkwan-Taekwondo and various other systems. Strength has always been a determiner in both competition and general training. Finding a program that emphasized strength and not mass has been hard. Until now that it is. Pavel has put together a great book. This book finally defines how to gain strength without adding the mass. I've added 30 pounds to my bench press with only 6 training sessions in 1 month. My deadlift has also gone up 100 pounds too. All of this without gaining additional bodyweight.
I definitely recommend this book to anyone who is serious about their Martial Arts training.

Summary: Awesome Book
Review: Whether you want to increase strength, size, or both. This is the only book you will need. Pavel is the man.
