Summary: Baby Steps DOES make everything fall into place
Review: This system is so much more than a book or an email mentoring site; it gives me the freedom and time to enjoy my life, family, job, and friends, all while living in a pleasant, well-organized home environment that nurtures me instead of enslaves me.

Some people are constantly trying new ways to "organize and clean," spending all their time, energy, and emotions without ever achieving their goals of a peaceful home.

If you're tired of trying to keep up a crazed 1950s cleaning schedule, if you're tired of living in a pig sty, or if you've simply hit rock bottom, you can open this book and decide to give it a try.

It does work ~ once you get past the "whining" and trying to "do it your way," which Marla so sweetly points out, is not working or you wouldn't be searching for yet another "organizational system." If your way is not giving you the results you want, what do you have to lose?

After several months of reading the site and book I decided to "just do it." I followed her plan exactly for several months. WOW! Now that I've "gotten it," I've personalized and improvised until her system is now my system...and my home is happy and healthy and basically self-cleaning!

The first step is the Baby Steps...Yes; everything else will (eventually) fall into place if you begin with her "shine your sink" and "dress to the shoes," rules.

There's no Stepford wife here; just a happy woman enjoying the blessings of her life.

Summary: Reflecting on Reflections
Review: Reflecting on the impact of Sink Relfections...it is an honest, common sense, no-excuses book for the overwhelmed. Through the personal discovery and "ah-ha" moments you learn that the CHAOS of everyday living is a sympton, not the problem. "FlyLady" empowers each person to have the courage to assess where they are and to take the first step to make a change. As the Chinese Philosopher said, "A journey of 1,000 miles begins with the first step." FlyLady's direct approach let's you know that with a few, well chosen routines, your life will change...whether you are a teen, grandma or somewhere in between. It's not a book about HOW to clean your home (let the Queen of Clean do that!) it's about cleaning away the obstacles that keep you bound.

It is true that most of the information is available online. However, the book is a good introduction and handy reference for those not online 24/7.

Though not written for everyone...everyone can get something out of the book, if they put a little bit of themselves into the book. It would be easy to flip through the book and just see a lot of common sense ideas; however, FlyLady really does blend mind, body & spirit to help you help yourself.

Summary: Not a Stepford Wife Book
Review: I follow the system Marla lays out in this book and I'm no Stepford Wife. I'm a full time school teacher and bring work home with me. My house is neat, and I have more free time than when my house was a mess. One reviewer stated that there was "irreducible time" for doing housework. True, but I spend 3 minutes doing my only bathroom that the whole family uses, and it looks great. I don't do housework on weekends, get all my errands and housework done during the week, take classes for my master's degree, and still have time to relax. As a matter of fact, this system saves me so much time and money and helps me stay in such a positive mood that I'm beginning to plan how I'm gong to accomplish something I've always wanted to do and didn't have the time or money for--I'm going to learn to fly a plane! (Stepford Wives don't fly planes!)
Now, Marla isn't any Shakespeare, but that's not why you would buy this book. Shakespeare is wonderful, but he doesn't tell you how to find peace and be organized. Marla does, and she knows whereof she speaks. After all, she's helping you find peace, not trying to write the Great American Novel. Take it for what it is--a great way to be more organized so you have more time to read those great works of fiction.
By the way. Her system helped me become so organized that my husband and i can leave for a great 3 day get away now with just 15 minutes notice. That's because now, everythings clean, ready, and put where it should be. We just got back from 3 days camping and mountain biking--we packed,.loaded the bikes, notified the kids and neighbors and left in 15 minutes (Another non Stepford activity!) Marla helped me organize my life so I can HAVE a life! Thanks, Marla

Review: I think this is an awesome book especially if you want to stay on track and can't have your control journal with you.As for 'wish i'd saved my money' I'm sorry you didn't like the book. You must be a BO (born organized) person who (in the words of Dr. Phil) 'just doesn't get it'.I enjoy both the book and the website.

Summary: thank you Marla
Review: Anyone that has a problem with this book is either not reading it right or rebelling against their own perfectionism. I have 3 small children, and although I am at home a lot of the time, the times that I have to leave vary constantly. It can be done. I've found that if you start with only the basics and fill in with what you have time for, you'll catch on quick. This book and the flylady web site have saved my family from living in filth. I'm far from perfect but now I know that I can do anything if I break it into segments.
My main problem was that I was whiny and didn't want to do it. I got stubborn and said "I'm not doing it" like a small child, and Marla helped me see this. If I were a stepford wife, I wouldn't have been rebelling for as long as I did. It takes a real woman to admit she has a weakness.
You go Marla!

Summary: It isn't JUST about CLUTTER!
Review: I suspect there'll be hundreds of reviews coming in -- as Marla/FlyLady's 200,000 subscribers respond to "Wish I Had Saved My Money".

I bought the book long after I'd subscribed to FlyLady's mailing list -- and the book truly reinforces what you learn from the reminders, Marla's written-on-the-treadmill essays (musings), the Testimonials, and the website's helpful hints.

I joined to learn to be a much better housewife -- instead, I learned to stop whining, and just DO IT!

And I learned that even with serious illness and almost NO ENERGY at all, in the midst of grief and trouble -- I COULD live in peace.

For me, I give thanks every day that I found the web site -- and the Book -- a year BEFORE my husband died. Our last year together was almost our best year together, despite "all of the above". My "Dear Husband" enjoyed Marla's essays (read aloud by me, in my best oratorical style!), -- and loved our peaceful home even better.

For someone who isn't Born Organized, who is living in CHAOS (Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome) -- who is buried in clutter (or whose family IS) -- this book is a lifesaver.

So is .........

It's not for everybody -- Born Organized people don't need it unless they have to teach their NOT-Born-Organized children. Clutterers who are living in denial AND CHAOS -- when you're ready for a teaching -- the Teacher will come. READ THIS BOOK -- and start doing things, 15 minutes at a time. Living in Peace is wonderful!

Summary: It's all about empowerment.
Review: I have read Ms. Cilley's book and have been following her plan for a couple of months now and have never felt less like a Stepford Wife in my life. What I do feel is empowered, in control, inspired, confident and in charge. I am a career woman with no children at home. Nevertheless, I was tired of the clutter that was always tearing at my need for organziation. Who knew it could all be so easy? Thank you, Marla. You're my hero!

Summary: Sink Reflections
Review: This system has saved my life and made my life so much easier. After having a mother-in-law in the hosptial for 69 days before she passed away I was able to maintain my home. On the day she died I was able to come home and have my house company ready in under 25 minutes.

If you want to help get your life back in order, order the book!!! If you think she talks down to you - you haven't a clue what you're talking about! This system is wonderful for anyone from a full time working mom, to a single stay at home mom to a grandmother with all the kids out of the house. She takes clutter, hard work, and chaos and makes it fun!

Thanks again Flylady!!! You're the best! Keep up the good work
