My greatest fear was that unexpected guests would learn my secret--that my home was a mess! I had read about getting my home and schedule under control, but I had never actually done it. After following the FLYLady system, my home is now company-ready all of the time. My husband and I have fewer conflicts, my children have a sense of order in their lives, and best of all, I feel so good about myself. Marla Cilley (FLYLady) walked me out of my dungeon one step at a time into a dream home of my own making. My life will never be the same. If you're ready for a transformation that will have you smiling every day, BUY THIS BOOK.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Transformed my life... in 15 minute segments Review: I LOVE this book! Marla shows us how to transform our life... in 15 minute segments, zones, quick routines and more. I was TOTALLY in CHAOS (what she calls "Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome"), and am still amazed that I can walk through a completely clean and transformed home at all times. It takes NO time to clean my home now, all my years of clutter is GONE, and the positive energy is spilling over into other areas of my life, and completely transforming them too! God Bless you, Flylady, you're helping women find themselves again. Once we get rid of the clutter that drains us of energy... voila! The true woman emerges! Full of energy, love and great ideas! I truly feel you're helping us MUCH more than keeping our houses clean. You're giving us a new way to think. You're so right.. that you can do anything for 15 minutes. Thanks again, Flylady!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: All the Emails in One Place! Review: This book is a very organized group of emails!FlyLady doesn't mess with her wonderful system by writing a new plan, this is the emails you get on a daily basis in one handy book. For those who get overwhelmed by the messages and don't know where to start, this book is for you. Marla has broken the steps down to chapters and it's even easier than the emails make it seem. I was able to find new ideas from the book that I somehow missed during the months I have been on the list. The motavating testimonials are also in there! I haven't found anything missing from this book.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The ONLY book you'll need to get truly organized! Review: Last summer, I happily donated my organization books (and let me tell you, I had a library and a half!) to our public library. Earlier that year, I had become a FlyBaby and thanks to FlyLady's incredible system, had baby stepped my way into a completely transformed way of living. I will always be grateful! FlyLady's wit, wisdom and just plain talk speaks to everyone who has ever struggled with organization. I know I speak for thousands of women all over the world who benefit from her system when I say, no one teaches organization better because she doesn't just address the unmade bed or the piles of unwashed laundry. She's been in the trenches, struggled herself and speaks from experience and with victory over the problem. And that makes all the difference in the world. I also need to mention that I personally know FlyLady (after becoming a FlyBaby) and will vouch for her personal integrity: she walks her talk, every single bit of it. I am buying several of FlyLady's books to give to friends and will treasure my own personal copy, too.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Stepford Wives??? Review: I really don't know what the negative reviewer meant by this comment, but I just bought this book and I am far from becoming a "Stepford Wife"- actually I am a single stay-at-home mom, who stayed in my pj's all day and basically was L-A-Z-Y! This book transformed my life! By taking "babysteps" which Marla explains in this book, I was able to change my outlook on life and make my home a place of peace and calm- all to PLEASE ME- NOT SOME HUSBAND- LIKE A STEPFORD WIFE! I now make my bed in the morning (never bothered before..I mean who was going to see it??) I get dressed- down to my shoes and am motivated just by this little act to do other things -rather than being a couch potato, wasting my day. This book is EMPOWERING! Marla, you are a a wonderful, postive influence on so many people!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Help is here - you don't have to like the style to benefit! Review: I think I fall somewhere between the reviewers who love or hate this book. While I give it an unqualified thumbs up, that's not to say I like the style. I don't. I am spiky, cynical, irreligious and unsentimental. I cringe when Marla talks about "blessing the world" and "purple puddles" and her "DH". But here's the thing. This book works. I am not a Stepford wife - I'm a senior executive for a national organisation and I have no family at all, no parents, siblings, partner or children - not even a pet. Because I have absolutely no time for myself and no priorities apart from work, my house was utter chaos. Thanks to Marla Cilley it is now livable and I am able to have friends over without drowning in shame and am gradually reclaiming my life away from the office. This book contains practical ideas that made me completely rethink my approach to my home. I am not cleaning out of moral duty or to please someone else, but because I deserve a nice place to live. The concept that it is better to do something imperfectly than never to start completely changed my thinking. And permission not to finish - to just do 15 minutes worth and stop - has made a huge difference to my life. And while I don't like the syrupy stuff, I also suspect that someone without that homespun sweetness could not or would not have written this book and offered this help. So I am just grateful, and Marla can be as religious and as honeyed as she damn well likes, because I truly appreciate what this book has helped me do, and only an idiot throws out a rare gift because the wrapping doesn't suit them - particularly when it is genuinely well meant. And to the patronising cow who can't believe people don't have time to throw out old toothpaste tubes - not everyone has as much free time as you do, and not everyone has the self-esteem necessary to put their own needs first. Clearly you are lucky enough to have plenty of both time and ego. Perhaps you can now invest in some insight to match. Thanks, Marla, for your generosity and common sense.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Two books helped me get my life on track - this was one Review: As much as I hate to admit it, my life was full of clutter that I was unable to conquer. I was overwhelmed, and seemed to be drowning in "hotspots" and piles of JUNK everywhere. I had all the excuses - too busy, too tired, gone too often to clean - you get the picture.
A good friend told me about Marla's website, flylady.net, and her simple step-by-step (baby-step) approach really helped me slowly regain control of my home - and my life, too! It also helped me realize how truly out of control my house was. I wanted to purchase this book to go along with the email system, because I had heard so much about it. Yes, much of the information is quite familiar, but it is so nice to have a paper copy of everything she says about her system - and it is easier to explain the whole "flylady thing" to a friend when I have the book on hand to show. :o)
For people who are struggling as I was (and sometimes continue to do), I highly recommend this book. I would also like to recommend the book "Prayer Steps to Serenity" by LG Parkhurst (ISBN 0595313043). It is marketed as a 12-Step book, but I realized that baby-stepping my way through his book, I could apply his devotions to my daily, flybaby life. The two books combined have been a true blessing to me. Prayer Steps tells me that my life is overwhelming and out of control, and how to regain control of my life. Sink Reflections tells me step-by-step how to gain control of my home.
The flylady method works!
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Naysayers, shame on you! Review: I subscribe to Marla's FlyLady website and love her system; it has made a huge difference in my attitude toward household management and cleanliness. I agree with many readers that the info in this book is repetitive of the materialon the website. If you don't have regular access to a computer and prefer to have a hands-on manual, try the book.
NOW, for those of you who DON'T like Marla's book or her FlyLady system, you are entitled to your opinion. But shame on you for berating those of us who find it helpful! One reviewer said that this book is only helpful to depressed people with low self-esteem, which I find insulting. I am certainly NOT depressed, and I resent those generalizations. However, I am a working mom (with a job outside the home) with a toddler and a husband who's in grad school, so housekeeping was low on my list of enjoyable things to do, and my house was a mess. I preferred to spend my time in the evenings with my family, and I was so overwhelmed by the state my house was in that I couldn't bring myself to climb out of the hole we had dug for ourselves. With the help of the FlyLady's suggestions and my helpful husband, we have made great strides in cleanliness and organization without sacrificing our family time.
I admit, I do not find every single one of Marla's suggestions helpful or relevant to me. But overall, I have benefitted from her help, and so have many other people. Her system is all about making routines that suit you and your family, which may mean adapting her instructions to suit your needs. If you didn't like this book, please say so and explain why so that others will be able to decide if this book is for them. But seriously, lay off the insults and be kind to others! Honesty is necessary and appreciated, but your intolerance and rudeness is not.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: LOVE CLEANING AND HAVE MORE TIME FOR YOU! Review: Although, I successfully teach how to get kids to complete their chores smiling... I never believed that cleaning a sink could be SO enjoyable... that is until now! Marla, brings fun back into the cleaning equation and offers simple step-by-step strategies WHILE providing fantastic support. Marla also, accomplished the impossible - she made a book on cleaning a book that you just won't be able to put down!
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Its all on the Website Review: I love the "Flylady" and her system. I was introduced to her this summer (6mo ago) and have been visiting her website and getting her daily emails. I found the book contained almost the same info as I had been getting for FREE online. I recommend going to the website and save your money. Her whole plan is babysteps. I like how the babysteps are presented online better. I don't have the time to read the book and then try to implement the ideas.
